Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having been regular visitors to the area we have always thought what a wonderfully situated hotel this is. Booked a last minute stay in a family suite and fab 4 star service, will go back - didn’t have a chance to use the spa (16+ much to my 12 year olds annoyance) but the indoor pool was lovely, when the weather is good the outdoor pool must be stunning

We have been going to Saunton Sands Hotel for the last 15 years. It never disappoints, good value, great food, top notch accommodation, classic sea views. It goes on and on. I recommend the wonderful walk down to the beach, literally below the hotel. Oh and by the way, for keen golfers, it is situated alongside a first class Golf Club

I'd wanted to stay at this hotel for years and finally had the chance for a two night break. Check in etc is all completed digitally before arrival, and you have a digital pass to be able to easily charge items to your room during the stay. The spa, indoor and outdoor pools are amazing, and the service and friendliness of the staff really first rate. We had a seaview room which was lovely, the beach is stunning and there are dryrobes and surf boards to borrow from the hotel if you want to take a dip. A super place for a short break, we will be back.

Pros; service, excellent spa, fab views, great location, bar area is lovely, very comfortable beds. Cons; rooms a little dated, shower was bad, evening meal was disappointing - found the menu quite odd. Not a lot of choice and didn’t feel like fresh local produce - the halloumi burger didn’t taste good. We did have some light bites in the bar area though in the daytime and they were very nice.

The hotel was so clean with fabulous views. I like a little touches they offered complimentary found all the staff very helpful and polite. The food was very good quality and well presented, One of the best breakfasts I've had……. Only thing was that our room was way too hot, even with both windows and a fan on but didn’t ruin our day, fabulous place and will be back again.

The hotel is a 1930s art deco hotel perched on top of a cliff. It has been very tastefully updated in keeping with the original style. It was very much like the setting of an Agatha Christie novel. It is an easy walk down to the beach and there are beautiful views from the hotel. I had a sea view room which was a good size and beautiful views. It had everything I needed. Breakfast was cooked to order and was good quality ingredients. had The spa facilities were fantastic. A recently modernised pool and thermal suite. I wish I had more time to spend there. There was also a gym. There is a children's play area outside as well. The hotel was perfect for singles, couples or families. Check in wasn't great. The receptionist was too buzy fussing over a male guest and carrying his suitcase to be bothered with an older lady guest. I had to carry my own case and ask other guests to direct me to my room. I also wasn't given my free welcome prosecco which was included in my deal. I ended up buying one instead. The worst thing was, I had already paid for an evening meal, a week before I got to eat it, the hotel then tried to charge me a second time. I had to query the bill in detail before this was corrected. I think this was very naughty. I may be old. I may be female, But I am not stupid. I won't be booking a bed, breakfast and evening meal deal again. Some members of staff were very good. Stephen the waiter chatted to the guests, made them feel at home, and gave them tips about the area. The hotel was expensive, I would have given 4 stars for value for money, however the spa facilities and location mean that I have given 5* for value.

The staff, location, food, facilities were super. My only observation was the rooms / hotel interior could do with updating. But v clean nonetheless. The Spa was fantastic and really loved the treatment.

We had a wonderful friends reunion weekend , view, service and food all excellent . Having a sea view is worth the extra expense . Book the thermal suite as soon as you arrive to ensure you are able to see the sunset from the jacuzzi !
