We have consistently stayed at the Berry Head Hotel in Brixham for many years, staying for 1-2 weeks at a time, sometimes multiple times and spending £3000+ each time on accommodation and in-house food. We love the view, the area and the hotel, often visiting local family and daughter in law who rows for the local Brixham Gig Club - a beautiful boat house situation on the harbour. However, we're extremely sad and upset at the approach taken to loyal, returning guests regarding a cancellation made with nearly a year's notice. My husband suffered a severe stroke and therefore we cancelled our booking, made not more than eight weeks ago - we were told that without insurance they could do nothing and we would lose our deposit. We acknowledge and accept that insurance is required to safeguard monies paid. We certainly recommend that guests of the Berry Head Hotel **ensure** they have such to cover any events, mainly due to a highly cutthroat approach to deposits paid, even when nearly a year's notice is provided. We thank you for the many years of happy holidays. Still, we now feel this isn't somewhere we want to return to - with the money spent over the years, generous tips provided to staff and repeat bookings, a goodwill gesture would have been a better approach, even with the 'policy' in place.…

We stayed here to attend a family wedding. The room we were assigned for over £200 pounds was really small and was not value for money and the excuse was that it was fully booked. The breakfast was not of good standard with the waiting staff being too casual and not actually providing service. The limited buffet also ran out of food and this was not replaced. We expected better food and service.

I am very sorry that we did not meet your expectations though we did have many compliments from others that weekend. The hotel was fully booked which will have limited available rooms. I am particularly concerned regarding your comments at Breakfast. We do offer a very comprehensive buffet and in addition we offer breakfast cooked to order and some a la carte choices if desired which is stated on the Breakfast menu. Did you raise an issue with the Head waiter? I can only imagine if the buffet was not replenished that they were coming toward the end of Breakfast however anything that you wanted should have been immediately supplied.

The Berry Head Hotel is incredible. The staff were so lovely. The food in the restaurant was amazing and so was the breakfast. The Berry Head was so clean. Our room was lovely. We stayed in room 23 and had a lovely view. You can walk into Brixham from the hotel which was very handy.

We had a fantastic and restful time. The team clearly enjoy working there, are all very friendly (particularly Mel at reception) but also the staff at the restaurant (whose names I have sadly forgotten) who were more than fun as well as very professional. The food is excellent, well presented and varied. We stayed in one of the self catering apartments - they are spotless, comfortable, warm. The hot tub (each apartment has one) is well worth the extra fee, I wallowed for hours! The one thing that was missing for me was an espresso machine, next time I'll bring my own...

The self catering apartment was like having a fancy apartment by the sea with the added amenities from the hotel. It was very clean , modern, warm and very comfortable. Everything was provided that you could want for your stay. We didn’t take advantage for the hot tub but definitely will next time. Parking for the apartment was very close in its own private area and the added bonus of EV charging pods. the pictures on the website are true to the property.

Stayed in one of the apartments (b24), which was lovely apart from on the last night when we went to use the hot tub and found it was empty, we noted other people were using theirs , so It would have been nice to be informed when we checked in about this. We ate both nights in the bar and the food was excellent. We have been visiting this hotel now for many years and my only complaint is, I wish the management would invest in training the front of house staff, who at times are almost useless, although they are lovely willing people , they just lack proper training.

Thank you for your kind review. You should have been informed about the hot tub on booking as we only set them up on request. I am sorry if you were not. Staffing has been particularly difficult since the pandemic a fact that is regularly referenced. We concentrate on looking for the most willing and enthusiastic staff and their hard work is regularly commented on and appreciated here. Rest assured we do invest in training however this does take time and the most important thing is attitude and the person.

Really enjoyed our 2 night stay at this hotel. Fabulous setting, with glorious views over the sea from the restaurant. Rooms were of a good standard, but the best part of our stay was the food in the restaurant. The table d'hote menu was imaginatively put together, featuring the local seafood prominently, and we had excellent meals on both the nights that we stayed there. This was food of a very high standard!

A beautiful setting for a very fine hotel.Our room had a wonderful view of the sea and we had the same spectacular view every morning with our breakfast. Our room and our bed were very comfortable and the choice of food served in both the brassiere and restaurant was excellent . The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Our family of 5 had a wonderful lunchtime meal for my husbands birthday at this lovely property. Highly recommended is the crab, bacon & corn gratin and the absolutely delicious pot of muscles in white wine & cream sauce, with a garlic bread order on the side for dipping. All serves were generous, staff were very efficient and friendly, the venue comfortable and the view is stunning. Parking was easy and a space found on the grounds. This would be a wonderful place to stay for a holiday break as they offer accommodation. Overall a great experience with everyone leaving very satisfied.
