We booked the barns for a hen weekend of 20 and it did not disappoint! It was immaculate, beautifully designed, could feature in a country living magazine, every tiny detail had been thought out, the owners really did have great taste. Mike and Matthew were very accommodating and even let us use the greenhouse and bbq as it was raining and even gave us tables and benches and helped us put up decorations. We had an amazing time, their hospitality made the weekend thank you!

Anran is amaaaaazing. The hosts were so gracious all through our stay. They gave us the full farm tour, introducing us to the village and all parts of the working farm and venue. The food and produce grown was amazing. The rooms were so well designed, comfortable beds, hot showers, well-working wifi and kitchens, but my absolute favorite part was walking around the grounds and swimming in the lake. The hosts have excellent style and have designed various spaces around the grounds to perfection! Amazing spot for events and photo shoots. 12/10 would recommend!!!

We wanted to get out of the city and our short stay at Anran was just what we needed. Situated in the south England countryside, the farm is tastefully decorated and beautifully renovated. Very comfortable bedroom, luxurious bathroom and modern kitchen.
On top of the fantastic amenities, the two owners were very helpful and welcoming. They showed us around the farm and took their time to advise us on activities we could do nearby.
Our son loved the 2 playful dogs and the space to run around.
I already missed the calm and peaceful atmosphere there. We surely will return in Summer to enjoy a different season at Tidwell farm.

Edwin and Mike have created a fantastic country retreat that's perfect for disconnecting from hectic city life and reconnecting with nature and loved ones.

My group of ten friends and I stayed in the barn rooms which were perfect for our large group. The configuration of the beautifully designed rooms/studios allowed everyone to have plenty of space and privacy while also providing communal space for us to gather and share meals.

The large property was perfect for wandering to take in the views from the hilltops, visit with the alpacas and pigs, the gardens or stroll into the village for dinner at the pub. Our group also spent a day at the lake, swimming, enjoying the perfect summer weather and playing with Mike and Edwin's sweet dogs Gibson and Bradley.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Anran for a quiet retreat with a partner or for a celebration with friends.

My husband and I have recently returned from a two night stay in the junior suite and we enjoyed every minute of it. When we arrived we were shown around the Manor house where you really feel like lady of the Manor. There are communal rooms downstairs you can use including a huge open kitchen breakfast and family room where we had a beautiful breakfast every morning courtesy of Mike and Edwin. Tea, coffee and milk is provided with a communal fridge so you can cook yourself a meal if you want too. Mike often popped a homemade cake he had whipped up earlier that day into the kitchen to help ourselves to and there was always plenty of fruit on the breakfast bar picked from the orchard outside. The house is very tastefully decorated and very clean. They have a no shoes policy in the house and provide you with cute slippers. The surroundings are simply out of this world. There are huge grounds which include a lily pond where there is a very private deck where we had our dinner one night with a bottle of wine. We were approached by a curious deer and we are told that they are regular visitors. There is a also a huge lake through the orchard where we watched the sunset with another bottle of wine. There are chairs dotted around perfect for social distancing! This is one of very few places where there was no noise, no traffic, no plane or trains etc, just the occasional tractor in the distance. My husband and I have stressful jobs so this is just what we needed. The kitchen and house is available throughout the day for you just to chill out and relax. There is a beautiful outdoor pool and changing room with towels provided. We didn't get chance to try it out but it looked amazing. You could just spend your days enjoying the acres and acres if you wanted. We were also introduced to the two alpacas on site (a must see) as they are so cute and Edwin gave us some food for them. Very cute! We would absolutely visit again. There are a couple of things that could be improved though such as the bathtub in our room needs a non slip mat as I couldn't lie back as it was just too slippery and I didnt want to end up under the water, provide a carafe of water in the bedroom (junior suite) would be good as otherwise it is a traipse down two flights of stairs. Same with tea and coffee. You have to go downstairs to get some which some people may not like. Also the rooms upstairs were incredibly hot and although fans were provided it was not enough. I think a freestanding air conditioning unit would be better. Also in the junior suite we were unable to use the razor charging point as there is no shelf and it was so high up that the lead was not long enough to just rest the razor on the floor (same with electric toothbrush). A bedside cabinet on both sides of the bed would also be better. Fantastic range of toiletries were provided.

We had the most glorious sunrise and view from the windows of our junior suite and it's well worth getting up early to watch it. All in all a fantastic stay you will not be disappointed. Will we be going back? Absolutely but next time we will try out a barn. Thanks Edwin, Mike and the team!

We were travelling down to Cornwall for a week away and decided to find somewhere to stop for a couple of nights. Wow, what a place we found.

Literally located in the middle of nowhere down some very small lanes. This really is a special B&B. We stayed in one of the barn rooms which really is special. They have found the balance of bringing luxury facilities but all the charm that you know you are staying in a barn.

Would recommend opting for the breakfast. This is brought to you on a tray to cook yourself. They bring you absolutely loads of food and have us a nice relaxing morning. Really good quality food also. Kitchen faculties have everything you need and even includes a dishwasher and washing machine.

Although very much off the beaten track there is a pub close by where we visited for pizza and beers which is also recommend.

Could not recommend more, such a lovely place!

My wife and I would like to thank owners Mike and Edwin for the excellent service and hospitality they offered at ANRAN. Our room was spotless, smelled pleasant and they even have Molton Brown products for guests. The breakfast was amazing and the surroundings were so peaceful, we could take a stroll around and take in the fresh air truly a retreat from the busy city life.

Do yourself a favor and get yourself to Mike & Edwin’s beautiful English country estate. For a big event like a wedding or a reunion it’s perfect but it’s also great for a simple unplugged family weekend.

Mike and Edwin have overhauled this country estate to the most modern conveniences — our room was unbelievable— so stylish and modern in and old county home - we had a free standing tub and the most comfortable bed/bedding ever!— every detail was taken care of. And the location blew our minds. I don’t know how they do it all, but what they’ve created is something extremely special.

We had a lake side cocktails with a five star food. We had a pig roast with Moroccan pillow seats. We had an 80s dance party that would make you blush! They even had a special cake made for an eight year old’s birthday, that happened to be the same weekend— so thoughtful. And I even caught Edwin blowing up the pool toys himself for the pool party ( that pool is so gorgeous too).

Every part of our weekend was so unique and special, we’re still talking about it a year later and we want to go back as soon as we can. This is one of those magical places you return to over and over.

We had AMAZING food, all our activities were scheduled perfectly and executed with class, charm and fun. They have such an eye fir design , ever building is more beautiful than the last…The staff was so friendly and helpful.

I just can’t say enough about Anran- Tidwell Farm and Mine & Edwin themselves.

What a way to destroy what should have been a special experience. If you are booking your wedding here, please BE CAREFUL. I received hateful, vile messages from the owner and was left distraught.
I recently got engaged, and had Anran at the top of my list for venues. I was so excited to book a visit, secure a date, and get planning. Following a Zoom call with Mike where we had a good chat about Anran, I immediately emailed the 'Anran Info' email account to express my gratitude, and show how keen I was to book this venue.
After a string of emails, where I was trying to arrange viewing times/get further information, I was absolutely shocked to randomly receive a HORRIBLE message from Edwin (the owner). I have attached photographic evidence for proof, as it truly is quite unbelievable otherwise.
Edwin told me that he 'detested' people like me, and called me rude and ill-mannered because I started my emails with 'Hello' instead of 'Hello Edwin'. Please read the email to see for yourself how awful.
I cannot tell you how sad it made me, to receive such nasty comments, simply because I had not addressed Edwin by his name in an email chain.
If you are a Bride or Groom, please be careful. I would absolutely hate for another person to be treated so badly, over something so miniscule.
I am so glad that we hadn't yet officially booked and paid thousands and thousands of our own money, to be treated like this.
Clearly the owner has a temper, and can get very angry. He also has no awareness of how detrimental it can be for someones well-being, to speak to people the way he spoke to me. So upsetting.
What a horrible and traumatic experience.

Response from Michael Jowett, Owner at ANRÁN @Tidwell Farm
Responded 8 Feb 2023
Dear Annie Burke, Thank you for your review on the experience that you had whilst considering our home for your wedding, and in particular the conversations that you had with my partner Edwin. Constructive feedback is always welcome. There are always two sides to every story. I have read the email correspondence and overheard snatches of conversations between you and him. While not particularly adversarial, neither were they particularly polite, especially in the context of his culture. Respect for one another is very important in the Asian culture, and this perhaps did not come across in your dialogue with him. As owners, we like to think we build relationships with the couples that we host at ANRAN. And because this is our home, we do have the luxury of being able to choose our friends and the people who hold their weddings here. We receive many enquiries every day and this is the first time that there has been such a strong reaction to a couple. Given the subsequent virulant email from your partner Alfie Fer, it seems that he was right to think we would not be the right fit for your special day. My personal take on all this is that text messages and emails can often be misconstrued or taken out of context, especially when there is a language barrier. We apologise for any offence caused but neither of us are the demons that you suggest. Perhaps one lesson to learn from all this is to pick up the phone and sort things out before it escalates due to miscommunication. Regards Mike

The decision to take a 4-day break at Anran was not an easy one...we were a mixed bunch. We were a family of four ( with two children under 8), and two adults, not related to the family. Only one of us had been to tHE UK before so we thought Anran would give us another perspective of England by besides London. Misgivings included the journey from London plus we weren't sure if there is would be enough to keep the active kids occupied.
We needn't have worried. The soothing set up, the gorgeous yet homely barn rooms., The attention to details and the very expansiveness of the grounds made everything magical. The photos we saw on their website might have made us book our getaway, but they didn't do justice to the 'farm'. Our time there just spend out and the most reluctant people to leave were the children who thoroughly enjoyed exploring the surroundings..ie the vegetable gardens, saying hello to the alpacas....
However the experience would not have been complete had it not been for Edwin and Mike. The hosts. Busy as they were in the run up to Christmas, they (especially Edwin) made time to make our acquaintance, and let the kids 'help' in decorating the Christmas trees. Such a sweet gesture to ensure the kids had a memorable time. Mike too, went out of his way to help with useful tips and suggestions re: day trips..
We would really like to go back there again, perhaps in Spring to enjoy another facet of Anran.
Edwin and Mike, our apologies for the belated review, but here it is. It was The Best Time Ever (according to the six year old')
