A totally relaxing atmosphere, great location, really good food available from on-site restaurant and competitive pricing. Good, friendly hosts, and we met lots of returning guests. Yes parts of the hotel are tired and need maintenance, but this did not bother us; it was evident that a lot of upgrading is being carried out. Our only issue was that our 'Superior' Room had next doors bathroom built in to our room (as is often the case) and we would have preferred better 'sound proofing'! Would definitely return.

After originally being put in the cottage we had to be moved because the cottage was freezing and clearly hadn't been cleaned as there were cobwebs and bugs everywhere! The room we were moved to seemed nice and roomy until entering the bathroom where again it had clearly not been cleaned properly, the floors were dirty and left our bare feet black and the shower looked grubby also. Although the wedding itself was lovely the staff were rude and very abrupt when approached and not very helpful at all.

While care has been taken with the gardens to make them an ideal location for wedding parties the same cannot be said for the hotel for normal travellers. The overall hotel is dated and needs an uplift, the heated towel rail was off in my room making the bathroom and towels cold with no way seen to turn it on. The menu description of the food I ordered did not match what I was served which contained items I was allergic to and would never have ordered due to the allergic consequences. When I complained I was asked if I would like something else but had to select something from memory as the menu was not offered. The alternative was dearer than the unsuitable wrongly described original but I was charge full price with no goodwill offered. Luckily I spotted the problem before I became ill.

What a great hotel, Keith and Carol were so helpful and friendly . They made us feel so welcome. I stayed for 2 nights and I could not have found fault with it if I tried . My daughter and Son in-law had such a lovely wedding at the Lavender . No one I spoke to over the weekend had a bad word to say. The Gardens were beautiful , Bedrooms comfortable , And service second to none .

Keith and Carol, you and your team are 2nd to none! Our wedding day was absolutely incredible your hospitality and humour helped make our day so memorable in every single way, your food was lovely, the rooms are so comfortable and clean , nothing was to much trouble! Our wedding day went without a single hitch because you all are absolutely incredible at what you do. It's taken me a couple of days to recover from our day to be honest lol. Thank you for everything it took 2 years to eventually get to have our day at your beautiful hotel but it was so worth the wait! We wish we could do it all again 😂
