This is a brilliant place for a family holiday - Alison and the team are so good at providing everything you need to make it all easy, from toddler cutlery to a stairgate to even a three-wheel buggy for taking on walks (our London one really isn't up to bridleways :) ) Plus there is so much to do without leaving the site: animals to feed (and Alison is wonderful at involving the children with this); a swing; a barn full of toys. And it's in a beautiful place near lots of lovely things to do. I came away relaxed, despite having brought the kids (aged 1 and 5) :)

A friend of mine recommend Stickwick Manor Cottage. She loves the cottage, heartwarming family and facilities for the children (playing barn, feeding the animals every day). Well.. so do I now. I really want to come back in the nearly future.

We visited Stickwick for 3 nights with two children (12 and 10). They loved it, especially the variety of animals (chickens, ducks, turkeys, donkeys, goats, sheep, rabbits, cats). Bob (turkey) was the favourite - surprisingly sociable! They helped feed and groom the animals each of the 3 mornings. Alison and Richard were so friendly and relaxed with the kids, even when we let one of the rabbits escape (oops) - Linda caught it very impressively! They also loved the v large garden, and toys (e.g. swing ball). We didn’t use the excellent play barn much as we had good weather. But my son borrowed some wellies from a big selection in there. They had thought of everything. The ‘Farmhouse’ cottage was clean, comfortable, well equipped, pretty. When we arrived there were arrangements of fresh flowers and cupcakes. We loved waking up to a view of the field with sheep. We ordered scones and also bought bacon, eggs, charcoal, burgers and more from their ‘larder’ which was right next to us. The ‘toasting shack’ is a bbq area in a beautiful setting that we put our names down to use one evening. They supply a wheel barrow to transport food etc to the shack (1 min walk) - the kids loved that. They looked at the rabbits and played whilst we cooked and drank wine at sunset and after our bbq we toasted marshmallows (from the larder) in the dark. Lovely to see the stars. We visited Hound Tor (thanks Alison) and Haytor - they LOVED this. And visited Widecombe in the Moor village (the old inn for lunch) , Canonteign falls was pretty, we also cycled the Granite Way on our way to Cornwall. If we had more time we would have visited more historic locations - ancient ruins etc.

A thoroughly enjoyable family break at Stickwick farmhouse. The well equipped charming property is set in a stunning location. Welcome provided by Alison, Richard, Liam went beyond expectations. The accommodation had fresh flowers and homemade cake; delicious. Alison asked if we were comfortable several times and had everything we needed. We did indeed. The farm experience was wonderful. Animals are gentle and accommodating. Our grandchildren were thrilled to be ‘hands on’ with feeding, grooming and egg collection. Gently, encouraged and educated by Alison they enjoyed getting to know the animals, embracing farm life. A highlight was having a fire/barbecue at the toasting shack. A great space to enjoy the surroundings in the evening. Thank you for a memorable holiday.

Stickwick is a really wonderful place. Beautiful luxurious rooms, everything you could need, v clean. But more than this the facilities are just fantastic - v v well equipped games barn, outdoor pizza oven/bbq/marshmallow toasting shed, outside space and play equipment for kids - it is perfect for get togethers, catering for up to 24 across three properties, two of which can be linked together - I really recommend this place. On top of which the owners are so lovely, gently involving the children in farm activities as they wish, including donkey feeding, bunny cuddles and egg collecting.

I am from Devon but have lived in the US (California) for most of my life. I brought my family here to visit my home for a week in July. If you are looking for a quiet getaway (yet close enough for the beautiful towns and beaches of Devon) this is the place! It is absolutely fantastic! The farmhouse was perfect for us, it had everything we needed and more. It was comfortable, clean, beautiful and we hated leaving. The hosts are wonderful - they made sure that we had everything we could possibly need, yet they left us alone to enjoy the property which was greatly appreciated. We walked to the village, walked the fields, fed the animals, had picnics on the grounds and really took advantage of the location. The farm is very close to Bovey so it was easy to get to town to buy what we needed. We would definitely return!

From the moment we made contact with Alison to view the property prior to booking, to the moment we sadly had to leave at the end of our stay, everything was perfect. True rustic old style Manor House, with modern facilities, the Toasting Shack is a great outside meeting place for larger groups, just ideal for all ages! We will definitely be back!

Having visited with family from Australia last June we booked Stickwick again for the rest of our tribe, staying in The Farmhouse. It's a very comfortable Georgian property in a very attractive setting. It's well equipped with a large range cooker, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer, dishwasher and loads of crockery, cutlery and pans. Our two year old grandson loved helping to feed the animals each morning with Alison and had a great time being pushed in the Booty Barrow when we used the Toasting Shack. The Play Barn, slide and swings were a great hit too. There is a well stocked Larder Room and Alison and her family are lovely, welcoming hosts. We can't praise Stickwick highly enough!

Such a wonderful Georgian manor with all home comforts and much more! We were there for a family long weekend and had a fabulous time enjoying the garden, the BBQ area and the games barn. So much to do it was difficult to pull ourselves away to enjoy the lovely countryside and the beach at Oddicombe (about 30 minutes away). The on-site Larder room was a god send and saved a trip in the car to get groceries. It’s an honesty pantry where the burgers and sausages from the local butcher were some of the best I’ve ever had. Alison had done so much to make our stay easy and enjoyable, was welcoming and available but never intrusive. We would definitely recommend Stickwick as a place for a large gathering no matter the season. Simply wonderful.
