Mitchelcroft is set in 5 acres of hayfields and garden and lies within the Dartmoor National Park, nestling in a beautiful patchwork of hillsides on the edge of the moor. Scoriton makes a good base for a longer stay. Wonderful walking either on the coast (a short drive away), the National Trust's Hembury Woods with its wild daffodils, bluebells and river dart at its base, or, of course, Dartmoor is on the doorstep. There is secure bike storage and some wonderful routes over Dartmoor direct from the house if cycling is your interest. A five minute walk from the house takes you to our lovely local pub, The Tradesman's Arms, serving great food every night of the week.Mitchelcroft is close to Holne, Ashburton, Buckfastleigh

Detailed Reviews
This is a delightful B+B in a stunning location with fabulous views of the Dartmoor National Park. We stayed in the pretty Hembury Room, with a seating area on the verandah which was the perfect spot to relax after a day's walking on the moor.
Debbie and Michael are welcoming hosts. The room had full tea and coffee making facilities, so it was quite a treat to be offered a tray with a pot of tea and home made cake on arrival. Breakfast was excellent with a range of choices.
We hope we will be able to visit again in the not too distant future.

I cannot find enough superlatives to describe what a wonderful B&B this is.. I have been fortunate enough to visit three times in the past few months. The pond room is idyliic with a lovely private decking area overlooking the pond.. The shower is huge and the bath just perfect for a leisurely soak after a day's sightseeing. The room is spotless with very high standards of housekeeping throughout the property... Breakfast is a gourmet affair with so much choice.. I have now booked a further five stays in 2021...

Mitchelcroft is an excellent B&B with faultless provision and amenities on the edge of Dartmoor and perfect for a range of beautiful walks. Each comfortable room has its own private seating outside area and the bathroom is very well equipped. We had a lovely break and Debbie and Michael were great hosts and made us feel totally relaxed. One evening we tried the platters available ( Mediterranean and Vegetarian) and they were so good. This was our first visit and we will return for more Dartmoor walks.

We stayed at Mitchelcroft for 2 nights in September. Debbie and Michael were wonderful hosts, nothing was to much trouble and they both made us feel very welcome in their stunning home. Debbie made us a pot of tea with the most delicious cake on arrival and even booked us a table at the lovely local pub for our evening meal. Our room was fantastic, spacious and spotlessly clean. We really couldn't have asked for more and can't wait to go back.

A very welcoming and high standard B&B set in a beautiful landscape. The owners Debbie and Michael are very nice and although we visited under the rules of Covid managed to make us feel at home. The fact that other guests were, in one case on their seventh visit, shows the high quality. We were visiting friends who live in the village and we went to the local pub,The Tradesmans Arms for dinner one night which is walkable but for other restaurants you need to drive. We have booked for next year!!

This is just a b and b in the same way that the Dorchester is just a hotel.Being a spoilt softie, I frankly dreaded the idea of a b and b. Visions of nasty bedding and cold bathrooms prevailed. How wrong i was .This establishment trounces many a 4 star hotel. Spotless , calm , a magnificent shower ,crisp bedding and a spot of tranquility. The welcome from the proprietors was genuinely charming . The offer of tea and cake as I stumbled in just added to my sense of disbelief that somewhere so good could be found in the heart of the countryside . Excellent breakfast too.
Recommended without any reservation.

We've just stayed 4 nights at Mitchelcroft and can't praise it enough. It's a totally perfect base to explore Dartmoor and beyond and just oozes comfort and gorgeousness. The lovely rooms have divine views and everything you could possibly need, the breakfasts are superb, and Debbie and Michael's generous and warm hospitality fill every corner of the place. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts ... we are already planning our next visit!

Beautiful Devon scenery. To throw open the French windows and look out over the wild flower meadow with the sun just warming the air was so uplifting.
Add the warm welcome, and lovely breakfast. It’s a great place to go to recharge your batteries. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Mitchelcroft last weekend, having had to cancel our original booking due to lockdown. So we we’re very much looking forward to our stay.
We were not disappointed in anyway, we stayed in the pond room, what a delight! Spotlessly clean and extremely well thought out accommodation. The view from the room is gorgeous with the pond and the meadow, so peaceful.
Debbie and Michael made us both very welcome, nothing was too much trouble.
Breakfast was well cooked and some nice choices. The homemade cake was delicious!
Their COVID secure arrangements are well thought out and we felt completely safe.
Unfortunately, we had to cut our stay short, but have already re-booked.
What an absolutely fabulous place-can’t wait to return.

Very welcoming and friendly. Nothing too much trouble. Everything including food top quality. Exceptional choice at breakfast. Rooms including ensuite absolutely immaculate and the Pond Room we had was very spacious with glorious outlook.
Our second visit and we will be there again. Well positioned for the area, and with a local pub serving good food only a short walk away if you don't want to drive to one of the other good establishments.
