Mitchelcroft is set in 5 acres of hayfields and garden and lies within the Dartmoor National Park, nestling in a beautiful patchwork of hillsides on the edge of the moor. Scoriton makes a good base for a longer stay. Wonderful walking either on the coast (a short drive away), the National Trust's Hembury Woods with its wild daffodils, bluebells and river dart at its base, or, of course, Dartmoor is on the doorstep. There is secure bike storage and some wonderful routes over Dartmoor direct from the house if cycling is your interest. A five minute walk from the house takes you to our lovely local pub, The Tradesman's Arms, serving great food every night of the week.Mitchelcroft is close to Holne, Ashburton, Buckfastleigh

A quiet and peaceful welcoming stay from start to finish. Arriving after a long drive we were given tea and cake upon arrival! We had a delightful breakfast selection to choose from to have whilst looking over the beautiful view to set you up for the day. We were rewarded from our long walks with more cake in our room and one of the best showers I've had with underfloor heating in the bathroom to help us unwind.

My daughter and I stayed for one night on a quick trip to Dartmoor and couldn’t have been more pleased with our accommodation We received a warm welcome, advice on local eateries and both rooms were beautifully furnished and warm. Bathrooms were warm spotlessly clean with toiletries and warm soft towels. Breakfast was varied and delicious and the views from the dining and bedrooms were stunning.

Really enjoyed our stay. The property is lovely, the owners are very friendly and breakfast was 5 star! We stayed in the pond room which was breath taking. The room had a extra large bed and was still incredibly spacious. It also had a private decking area and pond. A perfect getaway.

Such a warm welcome, a stunningly beautiful home, a treasure trove of an explorers delights with maps and books for all walking abilities, The breakfast - we'll be rolling up the moors having devoured a feast of freshly baked croissants, smashed avacado on delicious rye bread, hallumi and roasted tomatoes and fresh coffee. Like visiting family, nothing is too much trouble for Debbie and Michael. Funds of information about the area, particularly the Moor. Want the fire lit for when you get back from the pub? No problem. Got a sweet tooth? Then you will love the cake left in your room each afternoon!!

I just returned from my stay at Mitchelcroft and really didn't want to leave! We booked it as we were going to a wedding in the local area so only stayed 2 nights. The location is so beautiful and great for exploring nearby Dartmoor. The rooms were really nicely furnished and spotlessly clean, also nice and warm which is v important for me! There was a great selection of options for breakfast, I had fresh fruit followed by full English breakfast which was delicious and set me up for the day nicely. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.

Parking is off the road which is very convenient. The room we stayed in had lovely views over the meadows. I think was the Holden and Hambery rooms. Great selection of food for breakfast. The poached eggs are very good with the local bacon.

We have been staying at Mitchel Croft for over 3 years now and can’t fault any part of our stays. Debbie and Micheal make you feel extremely welcome and nothing is to much trouble. We recommend eating at Mitchelcroft at least for one night as the platters Debbie produces are excellent!!
