Travellers' Choice
Small family run country hotel in a convenient location on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. Recently under new ownership and fully renovated, Furzeleigh Mill Hotel retains all the charm and character of the 16th Century former mill building. In between the ancient towns of Buckfastleigh and Ashburton and a stones throw from the historic Buckfast Abbey staying at Furzeleigh Mill provides you with a good base to tour South Devon, the South Hams and Dartmoor itself. The hotel has 10 ensuite rooms, a very well stocked bar and a restaurant situated in the former mill room which serves great food from a regularly updated, seasonal menu. The south facing garden and new terrace has lovely views up the valley and is perfect for enjoying a meal or cocktail in the sunshine. There is also parking on site.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Recently organised a family birthday party for my partner. There was 14 people present and we had an afternoon set 3 course menu. Everyone present said how good the meal was, outstanding food. The patience by Abbie helping me getting it organised was great as were all the staff on the day. I will be going to eat there again and have no hesitation recommending them.

There are very few restaurants for miles around which can offer the choice and quality that one gets at Furzeleigh Mill. The menu is excellent - everyone was very happy with their selections. For beer drinkers there's plenty of variety behind the bar but our group chose wine; several offered by the glass were very good. A huge bonus was the courtesy mini-bus which collected and dropped us - very much appreciated! We had a great evening - looking forward to going back already!

We recently hired this venue for a wake. The team did an excellent job at setting everything up, making sure all our guests were served and topped up with refreshments. They did what we asked like food, drink and photos we wanted put out, they displayed well.

This is a Jewel in the Crown on Dartmoor. Organised annual dinner for 18 people and overnight stay. Recently had real money spent on a superb refurbishment, rooms are 5 Star, super comfy, everything you would need for a luxury stay. Restaraunt is 5 Star + lovely ambience, excellent staff and food worthy of any 5 Star establishment at reasonable prices. We had a an agreed set menu which was absolutely superb, beautifully cooked and served by charming staff. This continues with an excellent, freshly cooked, breakfast. Just perfect to round up a thouraghly enjoyable overnight stay and meal. We'll done Tessa, trust you and your staff have many years ahead running this wonderful Inn/Hotel.

Went for lunch on boxing day, wonderful. A set menu but still good choices and everything of good quality and nicely cooked. The dining areas are beautifully presented but lovely relaxed atmosphere. Probably the bargain of the year.

Great place. Fabulous hot cooked breakfast. Beautifully decorated lovely colours. Staff were brilliant. Only downside is soundproofing we could hear the man in the next room on the phone. Luckily the place wasn't busy and second night was peaceful. Beds really comfy. Everywhere was lovely and warm. Food very good. It's an old building so stairs to bedrooms might be an issue for some. Abbie who checked us in was really good and willing to help with bags.

We stopped off at Furzeleigh Mill for a Sunday lunch whilst travelling home from a break in Cornwall. We were immediately made to feel very welcome and quickly seated at a table in the lovely restaurant area. Our drinks order was taken promptly and we were given plenty of time to make our menu choices. The onion soup starter and roast beef & traditional veg main were delicious and portion sizes spot on. All members of staff were very friendly and provided an excellent service. This was proven further when on returning home I realised I had left my handbag in the restaurant. A telephone call and conversation with Tessa soon reassured me that it was safe and would be returned to me the following day. Huge thanks to Phoebe for keeping me informed and posting my bag which arrived safely today. The Furzleigh Mill team clearly know how to look after their customers :-)
