This was our second visit to Gidleigh having visited a number of years ago. The staff could not have been more helpful. The staff came our to greet us and carried all our heavy luggage to the hotel (I still have not managed to adopt a minimal packing approach!). Whilst checking us in they carried all our luggage to the...

It was 12 years since we last visited Gidleigh Park and were keen to return especially to witness the new Chef - Michael Wignal's culinary skills. To get to Gidlieigh you need to travel down a narrow and twisty road for 11/2 miles before the majesty of the hotel shows itself. We were greeted by the Deputy Manager - Mylo...

On a Spinal Tap scale I rate this place six stars. The only thing I could complain about ; they didn't stock my favourite gin but if I was staying longer I'm sure they would of shipped it in. We had the 10 course tasting menu - superb! Put this place on your bucket list, it's a treat

We have stayed here twice and really enjoy the experience. The road surface to the hotel is quite rough- low slung cars beware! Beautiful grounds, do have a walk round. Both rooms we stayed in were very luxurious. Comfortable beds. Nice toiletries. Good showers , as you would expect. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. There are nice...

My husband and I stayed one night following dinner, opting for Michael Wignall's completely brilliant 10 course tasting menu. Having eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world - this is my new NUMBER ONE place. The food is so exquisite that I felt emotionally moved at times! The combination of the Japanese influences with the best of...

If I didn't write a review about our recent adventure at Gidleigh Park - then I might as well take up underwater basket weaving. I had green tea which was so refreshing and light. My husband delighted on his choice of Earl Grey. We received our beautifully created sandwiches delivered by very friendly waiters. Then came the cakes! I can...

My husband and I visited Gidleigh for a short break in November. The leaves were still on the trees but the autumn colours were just 'going over'. Non the less, the grounds were delightful to walk around and the colours on the trees spectacular. Even tha paths towards the river Teigne were sprinkled with lovely mosses. Our room was extremely...

Dear LilyCardiff, We were delighted to read you have enjoyed your Autumnal retreat here at Gidleigh Park, it was a beautiful Autumn and the grounds really do come into their own at this time of year. The grounds wouldn't look as they do if it wasn't for Mr Brimblecombe and his team who look after the Estate and we are...

A wonderful setting with food of the highest quality. All the staff were attentive and keen to maintain the highest standards. The star of the show has to be the food. The 10 course tasting menu was fantastic.

The hotel sits at the top of a valley with stunning views. Owned by Andrew Brownswold (of The Priory Bath fame) the standards are of the highest with prices to match. Only downsde the new chef will not accept non resident diners on xmas day. Such a shame as in previous years this has been a highlight of xmas.

Our rooms were beautiful and the hotel building is extremely comfortable but it is the grounds that make Gidleigh Park so luxurious. The gardens and woods are beautiful and there are so few people around that it feels like staying in your own perfect country home, with easy access to stunning countryside. The staff are wonderfully accommodating and the food...
