Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a couple of nights free and booked the Lydford campsite for a short break away & am so very glad we did. I had such an amazing weekend and actually cried when we left as I had enjoyed our visit to the area so much.
The location is brilliant, so close to the Granite way cycle path, pubs, restaurants, Lydford Gorge and all of the delights of Dartmoor!
The site itself is amazingly run, a warm welcome on arrival and shown to your pitch. All of the facilities are very well maintained and run a good token system to ensure everyone is socially distancing and it seemed to work very well throughout our visit.
The views are wonderful (once the morning mist had lifted) and all of the pitches are well spaced out and overall it is pretty peaceful. Lovely to see families enjoying making special memories in a lovely setting and it really is a very special place & very well maintained.
There is so much of our beautiful county that we still need to explore but we have decided that we will definitely return in the near future as we have now found a new favourite site! Thank you all who made it such a wonderful stay.

We have stayed here many times and each time we are not disappointed. It is a lovely site within a lovely friendly village. Great walks, on the outskirts of Dartmoor, Okehampton, Tavistock and within walking distance of a lovely village pub. Also great cycle trail. COVID restrictions have been safely put in place with 3 plaques and hand sanitiser outside to allow only 3 people in the facilities at one time. Unfortunately, when I entered the facilities there was a Scottish lady in there who had not taken a plaque. I asked her to please go back out and take a plaque as it was not fair on others and did not depict the amount of people inside. She said " oh it doesn't matter". I said ( rightly or wrongly) that it does matter and that site Managers work hard to keep us safe. After saying " Well, never mind"..she continued regardless to enter the shower unit.
Please everyone...do not take the attitude of this lady and stay safe..these sites have worked hard to give us great staycations..

This was our first time at Lydford, and we will definately be back. The site is incredbly clean and well presented, and very well run, and good Covid precautions in place.

The wardens were extremley friendly and helpful, with nothing being too much trouble.

Super quiet site, and amazingly dark at night, given beautiful views of the stars. The camping field (Dart field) was well laid out, and we didn't feel cramped.

This is a very dog friendly site, with a path around the entire perimeter for on-lead walking. There's a field nearby for off lead exercise too.

Good proximity to the moor, a lovely pub and some wonderful walks.

We choose this location because of its close proximity to the Granite Way.

As a site its well organised and looked after.

The view you get is very much dependant on the pitch you get and on this occasion the one we had was excellent with clear views of the Moors and Tors.

Sadly as we have found in recent years more and more sites are going over to either Lodges; fixed Caravans or Seasonal Pitches. In this case we were informed the pitch we were given was going to become a seasonal pitch "Money Talks."

As future Touring Caravaners I can only guess we will get what is left; and I'm guessing that won't be the good pitches???

The Staff were very helpful and friendly.

I would recommend as is the case at other sites a Mop Bucket is provided to mop the shower units out and that something is done about the site gate "Security" a proper barrier; key pad operated etc.

Another stay, another wonderful experience. The staff couldn’t be more engaging and helpful, the site couldn’t feel more comfortable or clean and the location takes some beating if you fancy everything Dartmoor, Devon and parts of Cornwall have to offer. We even got to chat to the owners and it’s clear to see the whole operation is top to tail spot on. “We’ll be back”!

Booked for 7 nights so we could use as a base too visit Devon and Cornwall also the moor , the site is well set out , clean tidy and organised . Covid regulated , though getting all too comply wearing masks isn’t easy , it worked for 95% , the shower /toilet block/hook system was ok but could be simpler….. had spray cleaner in shower cubicle but needed a squeegee as those that didn’t leAve shoes outside cubicle made it messy for the person following. Just a simple idea but works on C&MH and C&c sites ….. all this said was a great site and staff were nice so would definitely return

Very warm reception from resident wardens and owners, efforts were made to locate me (a solo cycle tourist in his sixties on the Devon Coast to Coast) as near to the facilities block as possible. The reception sells a number of essential food items and precautions for Covid were evident throughout. Would I stay here again, oh, most certainly!

Fantastic Campsite, right from booking online through to us leaving, we couldn't fault this site at all. Proir to our arrival , we emailed everything we needed to know about the site and were sent additional information about local hikes. On arrival, we were greeted at the gate and shown to our pitch. The site is clean, well spaced out, and fantastic facilities ( showers, hair dryers, washing machine, dryer, and washing lines). The onsite shop has minimal stock, but everything you need and you can buy WiFi for your stay as the phone signal isn't great but the scenery is stunning. The site is well maintained by the onsite wardens who are lovely and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for all four of them, and it makes your stay that much better. You are in walking distance of two very different style pubs which were both welcoming and friendly. In the onsite wash room is a little tourist information area, which is a fantastic little touch
From this site, you're an hour away from Plymouth, Torquay, Brixham, Bude, and any other fantastic beachside towns, so don't forget your paddles boards. We'll.worth a visit

We visited in August with our MH. From our initial booking we were met with such friendly wardens. Pre departure details were received with full details of the site, arrival and local walks which we used a couple of them.
On arrival we were met at the gate by Neil who was friendly and straight away made us feel very welcome. The site is so well kept and you can tell they take such pride in the site.
The toilets and showers were always clean and plenty of hot water. The site has all the facilities you need, water, recycling, washing up area, under cover which was a blessing as in true fashion we had a shower or two, the reception also has a little shop for the essentials.
Neil and Louise are always present if you have any problems, we had to take our awning down due to high winds and Neil immediately stopped by to see if we needed a hand.
Lydford Gorge and the Castle pub are just down the road and the bus stop is close by along with many walks from the site.
We totally recommend this site and are looking forward to visiting again
