Warm welcome, nothing too much trouble, reasonably priced food which was delicious!. Staff very friendly. They also have a caravan park out the back so will definitely be back in the summer with our camper to walk the moors and enjoy more lovely food!

We stayed at The Fox and Hounds in September 2023. Booked via a popular booking site, we paid £75 for B&B for 1 night, double room with shared bathroom. Upon arrival we parked up in the car park next to the pub. Plenty of spaces available. Warm welcome by the landlord as we entered and were checked in quickly and efficiently. A warning about low beams was given (it’s a very old property!) and we found our way to the room up some narrow stairs (and the low beam). Room was pretty small but functional, with a double bed, wardrobe and kettle. Tea and coffee but no decaf or biscuits. Turned on the tiny TV and no channels picked up, even with retune. Mentioned this to the landlord but he didn’t seem too concerned. Also the WiFi code provided didn’t work and with very little mobile signal it was difficult to keep in touch with family. The shared bathroom was functional but very dated too. On a positive note, we went down to the bar for food and drink. Drinks were very reasonably priced and food was delicious, served quickly and efficiently. Breakfast the next morning was also well presented, with different size portions available to suit appetites. Check out was quick and easy too, everything paid in advance. We left with mixed feelings. Great food but let down by tired room and a lack of care for the facilities. If you’re looking for a simple accommodation on Dartmoor then this hotel is great, but if wanting more comforts then maybe look to pay a little more at an alternative venue.

Room Tip: Duck! That low beam at the top of the stairs hurts!

This pub has proved itself to be great value not just monetary value. It is so friendly the food was amazing. We had done a cycle ride and used it as a stop over so we could enjoy Lydford and Bretor the next day. No it’s not modern but it is very clean, the warm shower was welcome after our adventure. Breakfast was included in price and excellent.

Room very clean and beds comfortable. Evening meal was very tasty and the homemade Chicken Liver Pate is the best i have ever had, will have 2 next time. Breakfast was very filling and again tasty. Tea and Coffee was good as well, no nasty bitter taste to the coffee.

The service and the staff at this hotel were, lovely, helpful and very welcoming. They were very accomodating by storing our bikes in a safe place. The food in the pub/restaurant was excellent both for evening meal and breakfast. The room was very dated but that being said it had everything we needed and it was clean. The value of the room was excellent as well and I would definitely recommend this place, even if it's just to stop and have a friendly pint.

Brilliant experience, excellent value and exactly what we were looking for. The most dog friendly place we've ever stayed at, the staff were brilliant, accommodation topnotch and breakfast really done well. We stayed for two nights supporting the Ten Tors event and will definitely come again if the opportunity arises.

What a find, a lovely place to put your head down whilst supporting the 10 tors teams. So welcoming and so keen to keep us happy. The hotel and accommodation had a very homely feel. Would definitely come back. Breakfast was A* in morning, loved the sausages

Lovely welcome from the staff, warm and comfortable Inn. As it was Subsay we had the most tasty Sunday roast, we had the beef. Dave was very helpful and pleasant. The room is nice with all the usual amenities, tea, coffee etc. It's a shame we are only here for one night.

Arrived early evening on Tuesday 14th February with my business colleague. The bar was warm and clean and we received a warm welcome from Alec the duty manager that evening. We enjoyed a tasty bar meal and a couple of drinks. Alec could not be more friendly and helpful. Room was warm and clean and bed very comfortable. The following morning we enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast served by the manager Neil. All in all a very enjoyable stay and excellent value for money.
