On arrival Angela was very welcoming and clearly very hard working. We stayed throughout storm Dennis and just before arrival we went for a walk and was soaking wet and ready to relax. She chatted with us about how our day had been and showed us to our well presented, clean and comfortable room. We went out for dinner and she would recommend where to go and have us a 10% discount voucher for the place that I really wanted to go to.
In the morning Angela and skye(the pup) welcomed us and made sure our night was very nice. She told us about the history of her bnb. Then we had a lovely breakfast which was home made and scrumptious!
I will definitely be booking here any and be recommending to anyone that’ll be in the passing!
Thank you Angela and the family for an amazing stay.

What a treasure, great stay with a very warm welcome from our lovely host Angela. Great breakfast and comfy spacious rooms. superb views and the birds were a treat too, Ideal location for Dartmoor travel and the local village is very close by with good pubs for evening meals, The Peter Tavy is excellent and so is the Castle Inn for alfresco dining. We loved staying with you, Thankyou.

Stayed in large double room on first floor, huge bathroom with lots of extra toiletries to use. Nice views . Comfy bed and pillows. Angela is incredibly hard working and friendly and excellent communication before arrival. Breakfast very good. Shame the parking is not better, a bit of a squeeze to get 2 cars on the parking area, all 3 rooms were occupied when we were there. Nice area to visit and good local pubs

· It's non-refundable for a reason! The room had clearly not been cleaned, pubic hair on the toilet seat, bathroom floor, in the bath, even a long black hair in pot for teabags! The TV remote was filthy and the bedside drawers were revolting. My partner likes coffee but certainly wasn't using the dirty spoons ,or cups with dirty water in them nor the coffee itself which was 4 years out of date. We're quite quiet people and hate confrontation so we decided to not say anything, just clean the room ourselves. However, later on that night when we were about to get into bed we noticed stains on the bedsheet and a lot of hairs. It was late so we didn't want to disturb the host or other guests and decided to sleep on top of the duvet instead and only mention the sheet after breakfast. After breakfast I went over to Angela and quietly asked if we could have a new sheet and said we'd put this on ourselves. Angela became angry and defensive demanding to know why we wanted a new sheet I told her calmly why. Angela stormed upstairs to our room and demanded I show her the hairs. In the space of a few minutes I was sworn at twice and the bed sheet asked for thrown at me, I couldn't believe what I'd just experienced. My partner who's a very anxious person was clearly shaken up and told me that she was told "You can go if you want but you won't be getting a refund." We proceeded to pack everything up and leave, as we clearly wasn't welcome anymore.
I'm quite a well travelled person and stayed in remote places with poor sanitation, but believe me this cottage cleanliness -wise was easily the WORST. I still can't believe how dirty everything was, or how the host treated us. Apologising to the other guests for OUR behaviour, shouting at me and my partner like that ,and swearing and throwing the bedsheet at me. If you've unfortunately already booked here ,I suggest you check your room especially your bed!

I'm not really sure where to start, but do not let the positive reviews fool you because we chose this place based on them. We went here for our anniversary and upon entering our room we noticed things such as hair in the bath, as well as in the corner of the bathroom and a hair on the toilet seat. The room looked as if it hadn't been checked beforehand and the bedside drawers were filthy inside. We're not the sort of people that complain often and we hate confrontation so we decided to not say anything, just clean the room ourselves. However, later on in the evening when we were about to get into bed we notice a stain on the sheet and quite a few hairs. It was quite late so we didn't want to disturb the host so we decided we'd only mention the sheet at breakfast but let the other stuff go. After breakfast my partner went over to Angela and only asked if we could have a new sheet and that we'd put this on ourselves. Straight away Angela became defensive and demanded to know why we wanted a new sheet to which my partner told her but he said it in a calm way. If she had just given us a sheet and apologised it would have been okay but instead she stormed upstairs to our room and demanded he show her the hairs. I was in the breakfast room still and could hear her shouting at my partner from upstairs. I suffer from anxiety and the situation was really getting me on edge. I then got up and waited by the stairs to which Angela stormed back down them and said "I don't know what he's on about, they're new. You can go if you want but you won't be getting a refund." We didn't even once ask for a refund, all we wanted was a clean sheet. I went back upstairs and my partner was very shaken up and informed me that she had sworn at him twice. This is not on at all. Something that could have been sorted easily escalated and we immediately packed our stuff up and left as we did not feel welcome. Just be aware when booking this B&B. They do not like it if you point out anything negative.

This property is found well off the beaten track down a small poorly surfaced lane. It is an attractive little cottage. I parked my vehicle in an off-road parking place and as I left my car I was given a warm welcome by Angela and her small dog. I was shown upstairs to a cosy twin room with an attached large bathroom with both bath and shower. The shower was brilliant. The room was reasonably well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, and a smallish flat screen TV with all the normal free view channels. There is a wi-fi code supplied with the in the room and after some initial problems it connected and was fine. The view from the rear window was great, looking over fields with hill in the background and village church in the distance. Price wise this is a very good deal. B and B for £39.60 is pretty much unbeatable. Breakfast was very good and I would recommend this venue to all.

Went with 2 friends on a very long bike ride. Heather gate was where we stayed after 2 full days cycling on cycle route 27. It's not a boutique style B+B, more like staying in the home of a very clean and tidy relative. We had the family room with a double bed and 2 singles. Lovely bed linen, beds very comfortable. There was a bath and shower, mixer taps a bit difficult, my friends found. We were also allowed to use a second bathroom with a temperature controlled shower, very efficient.. We were very bedraggled having cycled from Torrington in wind and rain. When we asked about where to eat she insisted on driving us to the Castle pub in Lydford and collecting us later, well beyond the call of duty (no taxis in Lydford). Overnight it was completely silent, the farm being a little off the beaten track so we all slept well. I had a veggie breakfast, which was fine, including veg sausages. My friends both thought the bacon and pork sausages were very good. I wouls stay again if in the area.

Booked this last minute as we were due to camp but the weather was awful. Host was lovely and allowed us to use the room to change etc for a wedding even though it wasn’t ready. Lovely breakfast the next day too
