Stayed here with all my family for my wedding weekend. Steve and Karen were fantastic and helped to keep everyone happy and relaxed, from a delicious evening meal, cream teas, well stocked bar and spotless rooms. The beautiful setting was a perfect backdrop for the morning photos. Great position, in easy walking distance to Postbridge pub, shop and church! Thank...

Although we did not strictly stay within the hotel we were adjacent staying within the Cottage that is on site, Swallow Cottage. The cottage was fantastic, well equipped spacious and very clean. The owners were extremely polite and accommodating and the freshly baked scones upon arrival was a lovely touch. We traveled in a group of 4 plus a dog,...

This was the highlight of our tour of Devon. A beautiful house set back amongst acres of woodland. Very secluded! The room was pitch black at night. Cosy little bar and sumptuous breakfast. Very spacious room. Lovely friendly dog! Would definitely stay here again.

Before we booked this hotel earlier this year, we looked at Tripadviser and found that virtually everyone gave brilliant reviews. Often, high expectations don't match reality but Lydgate House is an incredible exception. This hotel is a real gem, a peaceful place with great views over the river Dart and the moor. The owners, Steve and Karen, go out of...

If you like seclusion and a quiet place to stay with top quality food this is the place. Absolutely brilliant. 7 rooms with some ensuite and spotlessly clean. The food is absolutely stunning. We had Bream for dinner and is was spectacular. I cannot recommend this place highly enough

Thank you very much for your kind review. Karen and I are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and were impressed with the food. Just to clarify all 7 of our rooms are en suite with toilet and either bath or shower. The extra bathroom you probably observed, not far from your room, is a spare one , which can...

After searching for dog friendly hotels in Dartmoor, we chose to visit Lydgate House. Set in beautiful surroundings we wanted for nothing. Attentive service and amazing food. Better than other 5 star hotels we've visited. Highly recommended!

Evening meal was excellent. Room average as was breakfast next morning. Dogs only allowed in rooms so not really dog friendly as advertised. Dogs not allowed in dining room okay get that not everyone wants dogs around while they're eating. But disappointing not allowed with you in bar for an evening drink. Good views and walks on doorstep.

Lovely setting and nice room with lovely view of Dart river.very nice evening meal and relax in bar afterwards. Good English breakfast included. Dog tolerant rather than dog friendly though - no access to any public areas. Lovely setting in middle of moor, but don't rely on sat ab to get there!

We fell in love with this hotel.....lovely thoughtful touches..... like fresh milk, plenty of variety for the teas.....a little bar.....three course dinners on request...even gluten free bread......and the location could not be better...have not slept so well for months. No complaints.

This is a place to escape the hustle and bustle of real life. The house was originally a late 19th century gentleman’s home, set slightly above the River Dart in a secluded part of the valley, in 36 acres of land on both sides of the river. The setting is beautiful, and the short stroll down to the river leads...
