We stayed at the Lowertown Farm B&B on our way to Cornwall in July. The location could be a little tricky to find but the directions given were spot on. The B&B is on a working farm and you enter into the hall and common living room. Our room was fine, a little dusty in the corners but the bed... More

We had a marvellous stay. When we found out that we were going to arrive late we contacted Luke and Hannah to inform them as asked. Luke phoned us back to let us know that as it was a Sunday the local pubs all shut early and we wouldn't be able to eat an evening meal and told us that... More

A very nice B&B located on a farm out in the countryside. It is a perfect place to stay if you want to explore Dartmoor either by car or on foot. The rooms are nice and comfortable and the breakfast is delicious and made from localy produced ingredients. The nature is really breathtaking and defenitly worth a visit.

I'm a regular guest at Lowertown Farm with my most recent stay being a week in early August of this year. Lowertown is tucked in a beautiful valley with immediate access to beautiful walks, and unlimited activities and sites to see if you have a vehicle. Ideal for the outdoorsy type or those looking for some peace and quiet. Rooms... More

Do not book this place unless you are absolutely sure you will not need to change or cancel your booking. I rang to check I could cancel the booking at short notice and was told I could. Later on, and without ringing me, they retracted this in an email, when I was already on my way to the wedding. When... More

Thank you for your review of Lowertown Farm despite the fact that you did not stay with us. We are a small business, so cancellations can have a major impact upon us, especially if we have turned away other guests in favour of someone who has already booked and who then cancels at the last minute, plus additional factors such... Lovely farmhouse with a comfortable family room. There is a lounge and drink station for guests along with the shared bathroom. Hannah let our daughter feed the pigs and watch the hens being fed, with a stroke of the pecan hen and the horses. The breakfast was smashing- great sausages! lovely countryside and garden.

Wonderful, friendly hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for our group of four riders and horses. Comfortable rooms for us with breakfast to set you up for a days riding across the beautiful moor. It was lovely to see the horses happily grazing from our bedroom window. Already planning a return trip.

The location of this farm B&B is absolutely stunning and completely surrounded by nature. I was only able to stay one night, but you could easily spend a week here and have some amazing walks without even thinking about using the car. There's easy access to quiet lanes, ancient woodland, riverside walks as well as open moorland. The B&B itself... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lowertown Farm Bed & Breakfast and Horse Retirement Yard is set in a peaceful rural hamlet within the Dart valley, three miles away from the picturesque village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. The farmhouse is 500 years old. Luke and Hannah, the second generation to live at the farmhouse, welcome you with a warm log fire (perfect for those cold winter nights), comfy sofas and full English breakfasts.Whether it's kayaking, climbing the granite tors, riding a horse across the moors or exploring the beauty of Dartmoor, Hannah and Luke, with their keen interest in the outdoors, are able to provide you with an enjoyable stay. Luke is an experienced kayaker and climber and can give you advice on local rivers and crags. We have three rooms, all at reasonable prices. Our visitor book is full of positive comments from previous guests, many of whom come back time and time again. For your evening meals there are a number of good quality pubs in the area, one of which is just a short walk though the fields.Lowertown Farm B&B is only minutes away from the popular River Dart, making it a perfect base for your kayaking holiday. We can cater for groups, families, couples or singles but we try to limit ourselves to a maximum of six guests at any time, ensuring that you have an enjoyable, peaceful stay. All guest rooms are upstairs and share a bathroom (bath with shower above) - please bear this in mind. As the three guest rooms share a bathroom not only does it save water, but it also means that we can keep a close eye on it - keeping it clean, hygienic and topped up with good quality eco-friendly toiletries, all made in the UK. ... more   less
