We came here to relax and have found it to be a lovely place to stay with beautiful scenery and good value for the money. The breakfast is excellent and the rooms are kept lovely and clean and fresh towels when needed. The family whom own this work as a team and nice to see that they make time for people. I would recommend this place as its in a beautiful location just be aware of the hills getting here and drive slowly! Thank you for making us so welcome. Carol and Jasmine

Just got back from enjoying 7 days at the Stag Hunter a great hard working team keeping the bar / hotel running in these Covid times Fingers crossed soon to be relaxed . We stayed on a BB &EM basis so happy we did , the Breakfast (full English ) really filled you up for the day and having it served in the Breakfast room overlooking the rear garden was a treat every morning watching the birds . Evening meals from the special's board or from the menu were enough choice even though it was limited again due to Covid and lack of extra staff . Good whole hearted honest food and a nice pint of Exmoor Ale or the cloudy Cider went down well . Wendy, Richard, Simon & James & everyone made us so welcome it was joy to stay at the Stag Hunter . Our room was very clean and tidy overlooking the river ( front view) with enough room to move about . Room was serviced every day and tea/ coffee/ milk replenished TV , kettle , coffee and tea & a nice hot shower. WIFI only worked down stairs in bar area and sitting room & no mobile phone reception at all throughout . So if you wanted to keep in touch or use your mobile you will need to get back up to the A39 for reception . If your not a dog lover I wouldn't advise you to stay here , Dogs like humans are made very welcome here . We knew this before we booked even though we don't have a dog , we have been here many times before but only to drink or eat never stayed . All I can say is we loved our 7 days am sure if you choose to stay here you will also. We did hear the story about reported ghosts roaming the building but luckily we never came across them .

Very lucky to book this lovely inn so close on bank holiday. We spent 2 nights here and I must say we thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality the lovely comfortable rooms excellent evening dinner and breakfast the exquisite surroundings so peaceful & tranquil. We definitely recommend a 3 night stay as 2 nights are not enough to take in all the beautiful surroundings. Will definitely be back in the autumn. Thank you to everyone at the Stag Hunters inn who looked after us.
