The building is very historic, beautiful, with original features, our room was spotlessly clean and had everything we would wish for, a good selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate selection, biscuits, hairdryer all the facilities we would need.

We stayed for bed and breakfast, the breakfast selection was very varied and I also heard someone asking about gluten free - this was no trouble at all and all very well catered for! We had the full English, absolutely gorgeous and a huge portion, toast, yoghurts, fruit juice were also provided, the service was excellent.

The staff were incredibly helpful, and friendly, and couldn't do enough to help - we needed to book a taxi and were offered help on this, we also had drinks in the bar which had a good selection of wine, gin and my husband's favourite real ales!

We had a lovely stay, and will most definitely be coming back, thank you so much to everyone at the Pack O' Cards!

This quirky B&B is superb. Spacious family room, lovely hosts and a delicious breakfast using quality products - plenty of options from full English to pancakes. Walkable to the beach, about 10 minutes.

Here are some of the best bits: great outdoor seating and play area, a bar range of gins, rums etc like I’ve never see (see my photo from a snap taken of the bar in the 40’s to now) free parking, shower gel/shampoo in shower, fan in room, quiet once in room so no external noise.

Really well worth a visit. The ‘museum’ shares all of the history of the building over the years. It was very interesting. Definitely gets the thumbs up from our family.

Booked in advance due to Covid plenty of social distancing and hand sanitizer. The carvery was lovely and the staff very obliging. All of the team serving the carvery were wearing masks. The system worked very well, the meat was lovely albeit the beef was a little tough. Plenty of vegetable options. We would book again.

I made a phone booking on Tuesday for Friday at 700pm . On arrival we were shown to the restaurant and after 10 minutes ordered drinks and food. There were 4 other couples there n the restaurant all waiting for food. The garden was quite busy and people were ordering food and being served quite quickly. However it was 45 minutes before our food arrived, My husbands ribs were fine and I ordered hake with potato salad. Maybe the chef should learn that potato salad is NOT roasted vegetables (which is what was served). The food was tasty but overpriced - a spoonful of white chocolate mousse for £7.50!! Where were the raspberries???? There was a wedding party being served but the landlord knew this when I made the booking so if he couldn’t cope - don’t take the booking!!! When we went to the desk to pay there was a notice saying 45 minute wait for food - maybe we could have been told this on arrival!!! There are more efficiently run eateries in the area so I would not recommend the pack of cards

It can be pretty tricky to find gluten free choices at pubs - but I was really impressed with the Pack O Cards. They had an allergy folder with all of the details in and plenty of choices for meals. This includes chips, garlic bread and best of all gluten free onion rings. They also adapted the salmon meal for me to make it gluten free so it came with chips instead of the pasta. It was really really tasty. Well worth the money, but it was pretty pricy - £24 for the salmon dish and the onion rings. Side orders are particularly expensive at £5.50 for onion rings and £4.95 for a bowl of chips. We ate outside in the sunshine and it was delightful.

Have passed the pack o' Cards many times After 15 months at home decided to take a local trip and spend a couple of nights at this intriguing building. It is a great location for our visits to Heddons Mouth, Arlington Court and Ilfracombe.

Newly refurbished room had everything we needed and breakfasts and evening meals could not be faulted.

A lovely break.

Went there with friends, so disappointed after a 30 minute wait after ordering got our starter a further 30 minutes for main course to arrive, not really up to any acceptable standard of cuisine, salmon overcooked glass noodles used instead of egg noodles. Several dishes removed from the menu and no chefs specials, hardly worth the cost, at least the beer was acceptable. Not on any discerning diners bucket list,

10 of us in total, over two tables had our evening meal at the Pack O Cards last Friday evening. We had an amazing time and will definitely revisit.

We had to book in advance as they were very busy. We’d tried to get in earlier in the week but weren’t able.

When we arrived, we were shown to our tables and as a lovely touch, the staff let us know that nobody else had our tables after us. This made us instantly relaxed, felt welcome and not rushed.

We all had various starters, mains and desserts and all the food was really lovely. I had steak for main and it was melt-in-the-mouth.

The staff were really friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and quick. They all obviously love working at the Pack O Cards and this really rubs off on how they interact with customers. They’re a huge credit to the place and the owners.

Food was a 3/5 but the staff 5/5...polite and helpful. So let's agree 4 ?

Don't expect anything home cooked it's a pub with a small restaurant attached. The food was the same as any local pub or weatherspoons.

A little over priced for what you get on the plate but Children's meals are very big so no going hungry for the little one.

Staff were polite and helpful, would not return as I'm not local

We stayed in Martin Combe area and this pub was recommended by our guest house as a family friendly pub (yes, there were lovely playground for youngsters) so gave it a go.

We were seated quite quickly but their customer service was not attentive at all. They took ages to take our order, even a couple arrived after us had placed their order first. When they delivered our drinks they took their time and gave us the wrong ones. Again, I had to caught their attention in order to get the bill.

The food was all right and the portions was fine. I ordered pork loins and the meat was a bit tough. The best bit was the interesting way of cooking and the chips were nice. However, the price was comparable to restaurants price (there are much better choices outside of this town). By the time we paid at the till, we did not give them any tips and we left with disappointment.
