We booked a Silver caravan for 1 week. I had a couple of queries prior to visit and contacted John Fowlers direct (booked through Hoseasons who i couldn't get through to) and they were very helpful. Arrived after a long journey, check in was quick and easy, and caravan was ready earlier than stated. However when we went to caravan found someone else parked next to it, so couldn't park up. The site staff were very helpful to try and locate the owner, but we ended up parking in the overspill overnight. We were satisfied with the caravan, well equiped (big fridge/freezer and dishwasher) and it was comfortable enough for the 3 of us. The Covid cleaning wasn't quite 100% though, as we found a cudly toy, and childs pop bottle left by previous visitors. We had a good view out to sea, although did seem quite close to the ciffe top lol!. The park isn't too big, and the swimming pool is a bonus. The only problem is that the parking next to some of the vans needs some work. The grass area next to our van was on quite a slant (about 30 deg) and uneven, with a dip before the road. As the ground was quite wet it was very difficult to get off the grass and almost got stuck. Really needs either flagstones laying or making more even. We ate a few times in the club house, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was basic, but was nice with good portions and a reasonable price. There wasn't any entertainment on due to Covid restrictions. The walk down to Combe Martin is very pleasent (although the steep part can be a challenge if un-fit) and avoids the main road. It's not a big place but enjoyed a few drinks outside a couple of the pubs in the bay. Overall we enjoyed the holiday and exploring the area. I probably would book a John Fowler holiday again, although not this area as I think we have exhausted all there is to do. …
We visited the park on the 23-10-20, using the sun vouchers & I'm glad we did. This park is cheap & cheerful with friendly staff, who are always on hand with a smile. The outside heated pool is anything, but heated. You get in & freeze! The lifeguards are chatty & interacted with the kids, which made them laugh. On our first night there we went into the club & ordered food, which was deep fat fried & after waiting 45 minutes when there was only two tables occupied was frustrating. I ended up getting my money back & fetched chips from down the road. Don't order food from the club would be my recommendation. Our caravan was clean, but very dated & the boiler constantly cut off being really old, which left us without hot water at times. If you look at photo's you can see that even when the windows are closed the wind stills blows in through the gap because they don't shut properly. The beach at the far end of the park is well worth the steep walk. Its a wonderful secluded beach where people leave messages on the rocks.…
We booked a platinum plus caravan for a weeks stay in October. These vans are located in the best spot at the top of the park with amazing views and verandas with lovely furniture. For what we paid the caravan was ideal, great central heating, dishwasher, clean and tidy, outdoor furniture, powerful shower! The only negative was the lack of signal/WiFi but when your on holiday isn't it lovely to switch off and forget. We didn't use the pool or other facilities so cannot comment on those but we found this site a great base for exploring North Devon. Mermaids cove was a lovely spot below the site! A definite must visit whilst there. Thanks Sandaway we had a great week
Sandaway Beach by the John Fowler company provided me and my family with good accommodation, brilliant ocean-views all at affordable prices. The caravan we stayed in was excellent value for money. We payed just eighty-nine pounds for a two bedroom static. There was a kitchenette and it was well equipped with appliances. The living room was quite practical with a spacious sofa and a dining table. Obviously, we went during the Corona Virus Outbreak. The camp provided us with brand new and fresh bedding and a sterilized caravan. The John Fowler park enforced safe measures for all of their customers, and we felt safe. Unfortunately, there was no entertainment on due to COVID-19, and the restaurant and bar applied early shutting but the staff did put on films and music for kids. The food and drink served in the park was average, but the system for ordering was simple and well thought of. You simply fill in a form of what drinks/snacks you want. Finally, the camp has it's own private beach or "Mermaid Cove." It is quite a tiring trek to get up and down though. The whole campsite is quite a hilly and steep area, and it isn't lit well at night. It has a nice, clean pool area with a lifeguard, and a quaint store to buy essentials from. Outside the camp is a central area of town where you can go to the coast (very rocky) and purchase various souvenirs. Overall, Sandaway Beach Holiday Park is an affordable, pet-friendly and child-friendly spot with bracing breezes and astonishing views. …
You cannot beat the views from this site, they are stunning! Lovely cove to walk down to and great coastal walks from the site. We even swam in the outside pool, which was warmer than we anticipated. Staff in the bar were very friendly. However, the caravan(30) we were put in was horrendous. It smelt of dogs, it had broken furniture and the deco was hanging off. The smell was so bad, I was feeling sick! We complained and were moved to another caravan which was definitely cleaner and didnt smell. However there was still lots of broken furniture, the floor of the shower was cracked, there was left over parts of old furniture eg old heaters, lights, bunk bed attachments. Really these caravans need replacing or drastically upgrading! If I returned again, it would not be to stay in a bronze caravan! …
