Sunday evening spent with some friends at the Crown was just amazing. The hotel itself is totally charming the staff very friendly and welcoming and to say the meal was superb would be an understatement. Presentation by the chef could not have been surpassed in a top London restaurant he really knows his trade, a real asset. Start to finish all food freshly prepared in his kitchen and served without any fuss by a professional team. Could not recommend the Crown hotel highly enough and will look forward to returning soon.

Our aim is always to make you feel at home when coming to the Crown. The head chef has been with us since we first took over the hotel and I can't speak highly enough of the food he produces. All our meals are freshly prepared and cooked with ingredients from local suppliers. Hopefully we'll see you again in the near future and you can explore more of the menu. Best wishes Ellis

I returned to The Crown for a short break in August. I've always enjoyed my trips here pre-covid and I was worried that the new rules would have sucked the charm and the fun out of the place. However nothing to worry about - there were a few additions in the form of hand sanitiser stations and signage and a few changes like not standing around the bar and all breakfast options ordered from your table rather than the buffet arrangement of the past. The important things such as the friendly, jolly atmosphere and the excellent food and beer remained firmly in place. Cleaning routines have been stepped up and anyone can stay here with confidence.

After lock down people really want to get away and we hope when guests stay with us they feel safe but comfortable, so it was really nice to read your review and feel we are achieving this. We didn't stay- though would- but ate a very good pub supper with good beer. The menu was well chosen. The service was prompt and courteous. They seemed to be able to cope well with all the restrictions of the virus. We'd go again.

We ate here tonight taking advantage of the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme. Enjoyed the best steak I’ve had for a long time (ribeye), with the famous ‘Crown sticky toffee pud’ proving to be a great choice too. Food was fantastic and the entertainment was just as good! The tall barman with dark hair and his curly headed sidekick had us in stitches all evening. Highly recommended and they even let me bring my well behaved Jack Russell. 5 stars, we will be back again

Thank you for your review. Glad our staff were entertaining and it was lovely to see Ben the Jack Russell again. We are a very friendly bunch here at the Crown and well behaved dogs are more than welcome. Our food is home made and taking advantage of the eat out, help out scheme made it really great value.. We look forward to seeing you and Ben the dog again. Best wishes Sara

A nice place to pull up en- route across Exmoor. Good hygiene standards and a simple but good menu. Nice range of beers. Easy place to park when we visited. Baguettes well filled. Service prompt despite these difficult times

Thank you for your review and glad you enjoyed your lunch. We have adapted to the 'new normal' and it's nice to know our new way of working is going well. Our lunch menu has snacks as well as full meals so plenty to choose from and our local ales are always popular. Hope fully you will visit again next time you are passing. Best wishes Sara
