Just spent 3 nights at the newly refurbished Dolphin Hotel recently purchases by Jo and her business partner. The rooms are freshly decorated, bright and with new beds and furniture. Staff very friendly and the service excellent. Jo and her team very professional and working hard to complete the last few rooms as lock down eases but this had no impact on quality of service provided during our stay. Wide choice of breakfast options (pre-booked due to COVID), well presented and without the hasty removal of dining ware during the meal so common these days. Just a few hundred yards away from the marina and sea front in a quite street. Parking on site provided for our stay and street parking available.. Will be staying again soon. A benchmark for quality service delivered with genuine cheerfulness and enthusiasm.

Just spent one night here with my husband. We usually go to bigger hotels but not much choice in Exmouth and this had a good reviews.

On arrival the hotel was welcoming from the outside and inside and the owner, Jo was so friendly. Offered us complimentary tea, coffee biscuits in the lounge. Hotel was contemporary and tastefully decorated. Our room on the ground floor was cosy and spotless with sanitizer, gloves and masks in the room if we needed. I noticed how she took a genuine interest in her guests, a lot of hotels I have stayed in could learn from her. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was pre-ordered and she insisted we have whatever we want eg. x2 eggs, x2 veggie sausage etc. It was a lovely extensive breakfast menu.

We would definitely stay here again as also good location 5/10 min walk to beach and town so perfect location. We asked if there was perhaps a bigger room when we stay again and she said no problem and knew what room would be better suited to us. A hotel of honest value and good quality standard of cleanliness and service. Look forward to staying again.

Jo is the main person to link the reviews as she gives personal attention to everything. Even when we booked she did not take any deposit because of the Covid uncertainty. We booked for 7 nights received one night free. From the start we were made to feel welcome and although the bar was closed you could order drinks from reception and to our surprise fresh coffee was given free of charge. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable & warm. If you wanted anything or needed a place to eat, Jo would send you in the right direction or even book a table for you. Each day you received a menu for breakfast and so long as you gave it to reception on that day, your breakfast was ready the following morning Choices were enormous and you ticked the box. 5 types of eggs, four types of cereal & they would cook porridge if you wanted it. 4 types of bread, fruit juices, choice o yoghurt, choice of tea or coffee etc. Waitresses had face coverings. Leaflets in reception offering places to go. Comfortable chairs and when we played cards they brought a table into reception for us. No lift so not really suitable for disabled. Some rooms had electric showers but those off the hot water system made it difficult to obtain the correct temperature in the shower, because hey had tank fed hot & main fed cold, so as soon as you opened the cold, the shower was cold. We managed, with patience, to get by. For the money they charge per night it was excellent value, confirmed by being the winners of "Four in a Bed". Well done Jo.
My only complaint is the parking. They have 6 spaces and because Jo is so eager to please everyone, we found our space we booked was taken by others. On the last night I was so pleased I managed to park outside the back door, ready for our cases in the morning. However, some arrogant driver, who like me never paid for the space started kicking up a huge fuss, so I moved into the street to help out. I would charge £5 per night per car when you book on a first come basis, then you can demand your space each day. It would avoid the arguments and make the hotel an extra 210 per week.. Other than this, if you want a hotel close to the town & beach, where you are treated like a family member, then this is the place for you. I have stayed at 5 star Hotels, but never received such attention & kindness before. Well done to everyone involved.

OK, straight off the bat let's address the downside. parking is at best very limited. That said though we were given a reserved parking spot so had no problems. That, Ladies and & Gents, is the only downside of this really lovely, well run Hotel.

The co-owner Jo, greeted us with a genuinely warm welcome and check in was quick and efficient. The public areas of the hotel offered a very good first impression and a relaxing ambience. Covid precautions were obviously being taken seriously with our temperature being taken, hand sanitizer around the hotel, staff wearing masks and regular reminders about social distancing.

We were shown to our room which was spacious, to say the least. The bathroom was big enough to hold a dance in and the bed was truly epic. It was huge as was the wall mounted screen. A really fabulous room.

We were offered a complimentary drink ( Gin & Tonic for us ) on the roof terrace, allowing us to relax and unwind after a hot and sticky day of driving and walking. A most welcome and unexpected bonus. Thank you Jo.

What this hotel has achieved is that it has made a small to medium sized hotel feel like a B&B, with personal service and attention that makes a guest feel genuinely valued. Well done to you and your Team Jo, we will definitely be back when we are next in the area.

I’d like to thank Jo and team for a lovely stay and congratulate them on their covid safety and the general excellence in the hotel. The checkin was easy and we were given a parking space, we even had a well earned beer while we and Jo had a chat and sorted the extra paperwork for covid, it was lovely and relaxed. We were shown to our rooms, mine was an large executive style room with a couple of nice chairs, massive bed and TV, what more could i want !! It fresh and clean with plenty of natural light. The bathroom was small but perfectly formed and fine for a big chap like me. The other room was a twin and again fresh and clean with a nice tv and bathroom. The toiletries were excellent and the really thoughtful things like spare masks and hand wash show great attention to detail. The communal areas were all clean and tidy and we were informed that there is updating going on too.
We had a good nights sleep in the comfy beds and the breakfast was excellent with a great choice and good quality.
Considering the year they have had all the staff were friendly and very helpful with recommendations of what to do in the local area. I’ll definitely come back and stay again

We booked 6 rooms at the dolphin hotel for a one night stay as we were fishing the next day. Initial booking calls were made approximately 6 weeks before the day, i had no problem sorting things out with Jo who was more than accommodating for us.
We arrive in the pouring rain and straight away we got booked in by Jo herself.
The rooms were immaculate and well worth the price, nicely set out, very clean, tea and coffee facilities, shower etc.
The bar was the next step very nicely refurbed and stocked full of a variety of soft and alcoholic drinks. Entertainment we made by ourselves with a little support from Jo again who i might add has an exceptional voice. The rest of the evening continued with singing and dancing a take away meal which Jo again made available all cutlery, with other guest from the hotel joining in on the fun.
We all retired to our rooms for some shut eye ready for fishing the next day.
Breakfast was prepared at a earlier time again by Jo and her staff to a very high standard.
All Covid 19 rules were in place and adhered to by all guests!!
We are looking to re-book again later in in the year as we all agreed ( 6 adults) that the customer service we received was excellent as well as the cleanliness of the hotel!!
Jo we look forward to seeing you soon, say hello to the Parrot!
Our host could not do anything more to make our stay enjoyable - certainly that, which is why I'm writing this review.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel this last week. From the moment we walked through the door we were greeted by professional, Helpful and caring staff.. my partner is in a wheelchair and we were given Room 20 on the ground floor it was spotlessly clean , beautiful thick white fluffy towels, soap, shampoo , conditioner , Hairdryer . The bed was so comfortable, Tea & Coffee facilities Biscuits ,lovely telly and chairs to relax in. The Breakfast had a really good selection from cereals, fruits, yoghurt, Danish pastries and that’s just to start. You had a choice of a lovely cooked breakfast , toast gluten free bread as well, fruit juices tea coffee normal or decaffeinate . Nothing was to much trouble the owner and staff so very very professional. The rooms were cleaned to a very high standard each day. If you wanted to have a Chinese or Indian or bring fish and chips inn you could eat in the bar another lovely place also if you wished to have a drink in the bar of a evening the staff were always there with a smile . Every member of staff that works for this hotel are so dedicated and lovely. If you want to walk to the beach it’s 3 minutes from the hotel and 5 minutes to the shop. This is a hotel my partner and I shall definitely be returning to . A special Hello goes to Harriet .

My friend and I enjoyed a lovely few days at the Dolphin hotel from 17th May. Short walk to sea front and town. It was the first day of opening after the government ruling so some maintenance work was still being carried out. However, nothing was too much trouble for Jo who is the lovely owner. Bed so comfortable and lovely and quiet. Breakfast and coffee very good quality with lots of choice. I will be back!
