Checked in a few hours ago spending 5 days in the area had 2 night at a luxury b and b in a costal village neaded something slightly cheaper for a night.
I still think 62 pound for a singal budget room is a bit steep but I chose this hotal as advertised as a sea view it wasn't and review described a cute bar as a solo travler I'd rather not be walking around a seaside town I don't know and didn't want to spend the entire evening in a small room.
When I booked in the lovely freindely reception nest explain bar shut as no coach party in but said she would happily serve me,which she did .
Manager arrived as I was about to have second drink and was ovbsely not pleased she'd served me.
I was quite happy to sit in empty bar with sea view rather then return to a tiny room with no view and small telly.
I had this happen before with hotals that cater for coach party's but at the height off the session it really shoudnt happen or it should be explained when booking.
I chose this hotal for the facility's and room advertised I rarely book singal rooms but it apered to have other advantages and that why I booked it.
Havent had breakfast yet ovbsely but so far big let down, recepnest is a credit to hotal trered to cater for a geust request.
Management ovbsely only interested in coach oartys

We stayed in room 101 the only room with the big bay window the room was clean and spacious had a large cupboard good for storage.
The view was amazing the beach, sea, gardens.
Every morning we were greeted by the lady on reception talking about walks and the local area she was very polite and made us feel very welcome.
The breakfast was more traditional we prefer cereal and toast, would have been good to have more continental options, fruit yoghurt croissants.
It's a Gem of a hotel got it on a good deal for 7 nights.
The hotel has a lot of character.
It would be good to have a table and chairs in front of the window to sit and look at the amazing view.
Also the bathroom could do with a refurbishment the shower head wasn't powerful.
Overall we would stay again the service is very good and the location the best views of exmouth beach.

Booked into the Ashton Court for one night towards the end of may while visiting the area. It’s in a great location as it’s close to the seafront, train station and town centre however the hotel is in need of a makeover as The bathroom was in need of decorating as well as the carpets. Additionally the single room I had cost £50 for just one night which was very overpriced considering the size of the room al though I did have a lovely view of the seafront.

Checked in yesterday, appears property hasn't been renovated since the 70's, rooms small, bathroom is ridiculously ancient, beds lumpy and super uncomfortable, with springs screeching ( I'm not a large women) kettle dirty, and I had to scrape the inside debris before we could even think about using. Our rate included breakfast and we were told when we checked in that breakfast was at 8:30am, we felt that this was the only time breakfast would be served as this is what reception made it to sound like. We arrived a couple minutes before 8:30, only to find about 80 OAP's q'd up the stairwell leading to the dated and tired looking 70's dining room, at 8:30am they opened the door and once in we proceeded to a two seat table, cups and cutlery dirty, when we finally had a member of staff near us to try and exchange for clean tableware, we were told we were not at the right table and we would need to go to another part of the restaurant, even tho the tables did not indicate that they were meant for anyone else. We just left and found breakfast at a restaurant instead. Experience was horrible and I would suggest you try another property as this one clearly isn't what it claims to be.

I can't understand the great reviews for this hotel. Yes, the staff are very pleasant and the breakfast not bad but the rooms are substandard if ours was the norm. We had room 309. It is tiny. It may be OK for a single person but not for 2. When we arrived one of the cups in the room had lipstick marks, there was an empty toilet roll on the holder and about a quarter of a roll by the toilet. There was a plastic tag from a price tag on the floor that was still there when we left along with a piece of paper under the chair There was no indication of the WiFi password so my partner went to reception and was told it was on the blue card in the room. There was no blue card and I had to go and get one from reception. At reception I noticed mention of a card indicating the room should be cleaned and there wasn't one of those in the room. The receptionist said they were on order.
The room had obviously been repainted fairly recently but the windows were in shocking condition.
In the small cupboard was a luggage stand. I was happy to see it as many hotels do not have them; but there was no space in the room to put it! There was also a stool. All they did was take up hanging space as there was nowhere to put them and our clothes could not hang properly.
The bed was very uncomfortable and creaked at every movement. The duvet cover had what looked like a tea stain.
Our room was not serviced after our first night. The next day I asked for the room to be serviced and was asked why I hadn't put out the card. I said there wasn't one and the receptionist was aware it was missing.
We were offered a complimentary drink for the housekeeping issues when I ordered a second round in the bar on our first night.
We expected to have dinner in the hotel but the restaurant was closed apart from breakfast. I found this odd at the height of tourist season in early August.
I should also mention that parking is a nightmare. The hotel only has about 10 spaces on a first come, first parked basis. When we arrived there was no parking at the hotel or in Louisa Terrace. Thankfully an electrician's van was parked in a hotel space so we waited about 15 minutes til he left.
Although the hotel was reasonably priced I would not recommend it.

I had booked to stay at The Ashton Court with Torquay Travel who unfortunately had to cancel their visit. Having stayed here before several times. I rang the Hotel direct & to my delight they had a room available with a sea view. Not having a car I explained that I would only be able to come down if the trains were running. The Ashton Court could not have been more helpful & understanding. I was offered a very nice price & on arrival delighted to find some people I had met on a previous stay were also visiting. As their brief says it is a budget hotel. The choice at Breakfast & Dinner is good, servings are generous . The room very clean. Plenty of hot water. It is an old building Grade 11 listed which does put some restrictions on what the owner can do. The staff genuinely want to please visitors & will do their best to help you.
The bar prices are the lowest I've seen. Sometimes there is evening entertainment on in the bar area - my advice is to muck in and enjoy yourself.
The location is a five star just a few minutes walk from the beach, town & railway station. In high season a little land train runs if you don't want to walk back at the end of the day. Near by places to visit within easy reach by public transport include Otterton Water Mill, Bicton Gardens, Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Topsham, Honiton & Exeter. If you have a car the little church at Otterley St Mary has a very interesting roof (inside). Or just chill out on Exmouth seafront at Mickeys Beach Bar. I'm already planning my next visit.
(I hope the wedding went smoothly, it was certainly a hot day)

My wife & I have just returned from a four night stay at the Ashton Court Hotel & was very pleasantly surprised how good this hotel was.
A lovely clean hotel which has had quite a lot of refurbishment work carried out by the new owners recently. Our room on the second floor (Room 202} was very good, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water with everything how it should be. High speed free wifi & a passenger lift to all floors.

Our breakfast & three course evening dinner was excellent served by the very pleasant waitress Emily. Always polite & very helpfull.
A wide choice of food options was available every day catering well for customers with varied dietary requirements.

Ashton Court Hotel is ideally located along the Exmouth Beacon only a few minutes away from the town centre, seafront & Marina.

I would have no hesitation whatsoever recommending this hotel.
Travelled with Forest Travel Holidays.

I visited with Mystic Isle coach trip, our first floor room which was recently decorated was large enough with comfy beds and a sea view. There was a good choice of food for both breakfast and dinner and covid restrictions and regulations were in place and everything went smoothly. The manager and staff were very friendly and helpful.

The room was spotless and warm, very comfortable bed and furnishings, bathroom, shower & hot water all excellent.

The whole hotel was very clean and well presented with an attractive lounge bar.

All the staff including the Owner and his Manager were extremely polite and welcoming, nothing too much trouble.

For my 4 nights stay the deal included breakfast and dinner which were excellent, generous portions with dinner being 3 courses good restaurant quality.

Superb location, great views with tour railway outside the hotel.
Would definitely stay again,

Staff in reception very friendly, lovely girls serving breakfast but didn’t really know how to speak to the guests just came over and said are you ready to order no Good morning or anything.
We stayed in room 305 had a stunning sea view room but was right at the top of the house very old fashioned bed was awful but was only for 2 nights bedroom on a slope squeaky floor boards and squeaky bed. Pillows were so flat and felt very old. The room was clean apart from mould around the bath and old bathroom needs updating.
Other than that not a bad place to stay

Not that I know of. My room was a shower over the bath. It is a old fashioned hotel not sure they would have anything like a walk in shower. Strange because it seems to be a bit of a favourite with the seniors.
