Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was our First visit after many recommendations, we were told the rooms and hotel was dated and it is around 1980. However as an older person I was comfortable with this. The food was lovely wholesome traditional British food. Each meal all the choices were good. I did like by arriving early on your check in day , but bot going to your room which was no great issue with you can start your mini holiday by doing craft classes straight away, great. We did load of classes , they are different prices but around 10 some were more rushed some just right. There is obviously an element of personal talent, as I have none all my cards came out ok , not fantastic. I enjoyed them all. The swimming pool was empty every time I went and spa you have to book There is a small room where you put your name down for each activity. It works well as people change their mind rub out the their name, written in pencil. ( only selfish or utterly disorganised do not so place is lost to others )

This is an absolutely archaic resort that is like something from 1962. There is nothing modern about this place, everything is managed by paper, physical keys, cash deposits and just feels so antiquated. The decor is vile and beyond dated. It’s really hard to find your room in the labyrinth. Signage randomly stops and starts and you have to guess which hallway to go down. The staff are a mix of really nice and helpful young people and grumpy rude staff that make you feel you’re being an inconvenience to them. They weirdly have “evening entertainment” which is worse than could possibly imagine and super cringe. If you’re under 70, avoid.

We are disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your recent stay. Our aim is to appeal to people of all ages and with a 70% repeat customer base we know that we are heading in the right direction. You do not mention all the amazing facilities and activities that we have to offer but we accept that everyone's tastes are different. You only need to look at all the reviews prior to yours to see that we are, on the whole, getting things right.

There is so much to do, you’re be spoiled for choice. I enjoyed our couple of days staying at the Manor hotel. We were able to check in early, just not allowed into our room until 3pm which was not a problem as we used the time to do activities. Reception member of staff could use some customer service skills instead of shouting out our credit card was declined she could have easily established they do not accept American Express. How rude! On a positive note we did several crafts over our short stay. I particularly enjoyed glass fusion, resin dragonflies and stained glass copper foiling. I didn’t really enjoy cottage garden poppies - it’s difficult to get a decent picture and the class is rushed. Each activity cost in the region of £10-£12 (the ones we did anyway!) Our room was surprisingly spacious, for the time we spent in to it was ok. We were able to open the window, it was very hot in the hotel. Cold in the class rooms so take a sweater. Food was pleasant English fare. Roast one day, fish another. All good. Eat as much as you want so you won’t go hungry. Tea and coffee free with meals. The whole hotel could do with being updated, especially the bar area which is very dated and dull. On a positive note it was clean. Staff friendly and welcoming. Parking very easy.

First thing I will say is that I have always wanted to experience this sort of holiday. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. 😁😁 I will review in the following way. Food, Crafts & Activities, Accommodation. MEALS: All three meals are included in the price. There is plenty to choose from and all very high quality. Personally I found them delicious.😋 I have a friend with very specific dietary needs and she was able to talk to the chef about these. CRAFTS & ACTIVITIES: Please be aware they do charge for crafting materials per product. That being said, with so many different crafts and activities on offer you'll be spoilt for choice. I personally took part in Resin Workshops, Glass Fusion, Enameling, Wheelwork Pottery. The instructors for all these activities were very warm, helpful and informative. The non-crafting activities I took part in were Archery, table bowls as well as using the pool/jacuzzi/steam room facilities. ACCOMMODATION: as others have mentioned although the rooms are clean and comfortable they could do with some TLC. All in all I very much enjoyed the experience and we'll definitely be coming again.😁😁

As always we had a great time at the Manor Resort last week, but this week was particularly good as we participated in an excellent two and a half day Pickleball course run by Ray Puddick. I would definitely go on another one of his courses there.

I've stayed several times before and was happy to stay again. My room was spacious, warm and very clean - great for a solo traveller paying a per person price. Food was plentiful with lots of choice. Yes it gets busy at times - everyone wants to eat - but having allocated tables is very sensible. Some crafts get booked up quickly but it's always worth checking back as people change their minds. Prices have gone up considerably but utilities have skyrocketed so I'm not surprised. Most of the crafts offer good quality (but not all 😬 - I'm fussy) and I brought home some lovely items which I found to be good value and brushed up some skills. Craft kits in the shop aren't particularly cheap, but are of excellent quality. You get what you pay for! There is a new crafters' lounge but I was frozen in there so didn't stay long. I used the spa just once this time as I preferred the pool with the spa bath - much nearer to my room and I could swim beforehand. So many sports and activities to try and all free- I like shooting and tried the archery - It can be hard to prioritise. There is entertainment in the evening, as well as 'bingo' (free) I was really pleased with the station pick up - train journey was preferable to the unpredictable motorway journey time from Bedfordshire- very efficient and no train strikes on this occasion. Just a shout out to the staff who are multi skilled and are never seen to be idle! Very helpful. You could not enjoy such a jam packed break without them. I will return (with or without friends or family).

Just brilliant as usual, the sports and crafts available are amazing to try. The staff work so hard to make the stay enjoyable and are helpful. Yes the rooms are dated but clean and comfy but it's not what this hotel is about. They have added lots of new sport and craft facilities which make this an incredible fun holiday. Rather the money go to this than plush rooms.. so if you love sport and crafts book it. We took new friends this time and all said they wanted to come back again. Food good too, thankyou all staff at the Manor and the Ashbury for making a great holiday again, much appreciated x

I booked at the last minute and arrived at around 10pm after a hellish 7 hour drive. From the moment I arrived, everyone was so friendly, yet professional. There was a proper meal waiting for me because I missed dinner - I asked for something because I let them know I would be late - did not expect something so lovely. The room is fine. .. It's warm, , super clean and in good condition . Every single member of staff was accommodating , lovely and very efficient. Food is excellent and plentiful, with wide ranging choices. Outside meal times, access to snacks, hot drinks , water etc is by vending machine. The craft classes available are wide ranging, well organised and planned, taught properly and have clear health & safety profiles where necessary. I didn't use any of the sports or spa facilities, but they are also wide ranging and plentiful! I am traveling solo these days .... This is a really great place for me, and I will be back .
