My husband and I have just returned from a three night stay at this wonderful hotel. It was not our first visit and will certainly not be our last. The building is impressive, the grounds (and surrounding area) magnificent, the food is wonderful and all the staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Being a listed building there is no lift...

This is our fourth visit to this fantastic hotel, with our dog who is treated royally. There is a mat, two bowls and a ball for him, and if he's very lucky, a sausage for breakfast! Our rooms are always clean, spacious and comfortable. Dinner is a much anticipated event, and the staff as ever are efficient, but warm and...

Oh dear. Here for a wedding of some close friends. Staying for two nights. But even though I am a resident I cannot sign for drinks and have to pay cash. Not sure where the nearest cashpoint is and not enough time to get to it anyway. Groom and bride very upset. Gonna be a dry night. Shame as this...

Spent 3 days here over the New Year, very nice hotel. Room very comfortable, food excellent, staff very friendly. The hotel is found at the end of one of Devon's small single track roads, not far from Kingsbridge. The only negative about the hotel is that there is no lift, if you are on the top floor there are 41...

We were holidaying locally and we were lucky to get a reservation at short notice. This is a grand place, but very friendly and unfussy. The dining room had a grandeur feel to it. Very friendly staff. The menu had choices for pescaterians. I had a cod mousse to start off with and sea bream for mains. Both were simply...

We don't stay at this hotel because it's near our home but we do dine here. It's a wonderful old place, lots of panelling and open fires, a real country house. We chose it for our Boxing Day lunch because of previous good experiences and, with one exception, this was no different. The welcome was warm and friendly and we...

I had not been to Buckland Tout Saints for some 30 years, and it had not really changed (in a very good way) Same beautiful building with no ugly extensions, lovely gardens, the old wood panelling in the public rooms and plenty of country house atmosphere. Our room was very good with everything you could need, clean and comfortable. We...

The hotel is beautiful but unfortunately their afternoon tea was very disappointing. The bread was dry, almost stale, the cakes were very very basic and not very inspirational at all. A meringue which was dry, a banana bread and an odd custard tart. Just not what you expect from a hotel like this. Having visited other hotels in the chain...

I run a B&B myself, so I notice attention to detail. This little hotel got everything right. Immaculate presentation, beautifully decorated and furnished, clean and warm. We had the best welcome, and our dog was not just 'allowed' she was treated like a guest in her own right. Wonderful breakfasts and fine dining dinners. We felt very at home here and...
