6 of us visited having walked along coast path. We were welcomed by the staff who assisted by checking bus time and location of current stops. Lunches lovely and well priced. We will be back later in the year x

This used to be an lovely pub with great food but sadly not the case anymore. We had a very disappointing lunchtime visit between Christmas and New year. I would add that we were a larger group of adults and children and we hadn't booked but the staff said they could accommodate us. We ordered a variety of meals from the lunch menu including jacket potatoes, soup, sandwiched and fish and chips, plus some children's meals. Firstly the potatoes - the ones that had tuna seemed to be ok, however the chilli ones had cold and frozen chilli. Also missing coleslaw which wasn't a massive issue. The soup was bright red, not sure what it was supposed to be but was informed after that there was little flavour to it and texture was a bit strange. The roll that accompanied it was also rock hard. When ordered the sandwiches we were asked what bread we would like, we asked for granary, but what we received was brown. Would have been fine but it was the most basic, thin sliced bread, not what you would expect for around £7 I was told that the fish and chips were fine so no problem there, the children's meals also we're ok. Staff seemed nice and at the time we all thought it was just out meal that was disappointing so didn't want to ruin it for the others otherwise we would have said something. The guest having the frozen chilli arrived late, ate only a few bites as didn't want to get sick and left the rest but didn't want to upset anyone by complaining at the time. Despite seeing that there are many positive reviews I'm not sure I'd risk going back again as half of the food was of a really poor standard. I love supporting local pubs and restaurants when I can but will be going somewhere else next time. Shame as it's always been lovely food in there

Received a call earlier today and then again late night on 29/12 Saying no breakfast and can't believe I'd booked your place? Which was available on Booking.com when I booked. The call was very unsettling and I’ve got a really bad vibe!! Very disappointing Please let me know? I’ve messaged you from number you called me on last night. Looking to stay just before meeting friends New Year’s Day, but if it’s a problem please refund or cancel immediately for me.

Room Tip: Really check it’s what you want. It seems like a very noisy pub!

As usual I sat at the head of the table. After all someone has to keep these humans in order! David Sue Rachel and John had a great lunch and afternoon gossip. The beer Tomothy Tailors was excent, the food was very good, well cooked and a good selection at very reasonable price. Nat the assistant Manager looked after us very well in Jade's absence. If you want a pub with a traditional atmosphere great food and beer look no further than here. Oh and the water and dog biscuits are pretty good as well! 😂

Thank you very much for taking the time to drop us a review. Maggie, you and your human companions were an absolute delight to serve. We're so pleased that they enjoyed both the ale and food. It's so good to be able to have a good catch up between friends. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Kind Regards, The Wayfarer
