My family (2 adults, 2 kids aged 4 and 7) stayed at the Coach House for a week over Christmas and no-one wanted to come home. It was spotless, equipped with everything you could need and cosy. My children were thrilled with the enormous climbing frame, trampoline, football nets and the beautiful children's room with a cupboard full of toys. As soon as it got light, my 7 year old pulled on his wellies and escaped for a bounce and a wander round the trees looking for birds and saying hello to the chickens and ducks. My partner loved the comfy beds, the peacefulness and the way that even cooking an unplanned xmas dinner in the kitchen was a breeze. Julie, the host, is very organised (for example providing washing liquid etc - which came in handy when both children slid down muddy banks within the first hour of arriving) and the Coach house has a giant map of the area and a folder with local walks and eateries which makes exploring the area easy. I can't recommend it highly enough and we would definitely like to go back in the summer to explore more of the beautiful local area.…
We stayed in the Garden rooms and this was perfect for 2. The layout is open plan and the apartment had great facilities. All the furniture and appliances were great quality and very clean. There are thoughtful touches with games, books, laundry facilities, cooking & cake! The information book was very useful, with walks & about the town centre. Particularly, the updates with the takeaways offered locally during lockdown, was a great idea. The grounds were beautiful too! Easy access to the town centre by foot and supermarkets by car (5minutes). Julie was great at keeping in touch, as she was not on the premises and was very efficient at responding. Thank you for a relaxing and enjoyable stay 🙂
We stayed for a week in the Coach House & really enjoyed it. The accommodation was spotless and well equipped with everything we could need. The grounds were stunning and Kingsbridge was only a short walk down the hill. The owners were brilliant to deal with - superb communication and even a lovely vegan treat awaited us on arrival! The only thing that would have made our stay better was the weather :) Highly recommend Lower Coombe Royal & would definitely return. Thanks for a great stay
We stayed in cedar lodge for my wife’s 30th birthday for 3 nights and had the best time. Julie was helpful in communicating before our stay and Paul was there to great us on arrival and show us to the lodge. We booked here due to the location and the hot tub and weren’t disappointed on either front, beautiful well equipped safari tent with luxury fixtures and beautiful little touches throughout. The wood fired hot tub was in the perfect location next to the tent and overlooking the trees. Just a magical place to stay and relax and unwind. l can’t say anymore, other than It was perfect. Thanks to Paul and Julie for working so hard to create this place. We can’t wait to come back again.
We stayed in one of the safari tents for two nights in October. The grounds and lodges are amazing and are well equipped with everything you need with fantastic views and scenery. There were just a few things that we felt would of improved our stay. When we arrived we met Paul who we found very helpful showing us around our accommodation and throughout our first evening he did come and check to see how we was getting on. We did however feel some comments were unnecessary. When showing us how to use the facilities he said “ make sure your listening as I don’t want you calling me after 8pm “ Although this did come across in a jokingly manner we did both feel if we did need to contact Paul for any reason we didn’t feel comfortable to do so. When you arrive somewhere you want to feel welcome and comfortable to contact the host regarding any matter and unfortunately this didn’t make us feel that that way. When departing on Sunday on our way to the car I acknowledged Paul first and said good morning and the response I received was “ Are you finished yet “ in regards to have we finished in the lodge along with departing. The conversation didn’t carry on we wasn’t asked how everything was and if we enjoyed our stay. I understand you would of had other change overs to attend to and I can imagine you are always very busy but as a host we would at least you expected a good morning or a short conversation instead of one short response. Throughout booking my stay at Lower Coombe I had been in contact with Julie and she was very helpful and friendly although I didn’t get to meet her as she was away the weekend we stayed. Hot Tub - When booking a short break the majority of people will search for a property that includes a hot tub as this is a luxury to have when staying somewhere. We wasn’t aware that you had to heat the hot tub yourself using a log burner. This ended up taking us five hours and when we eventually was able to use this it was 55 degrees and was unable to stay in the hot tub and by the next morning it was cold again. We decided not to waste anymore time heating the hot tub again as the majority of our first night we spent doing this. I do understand this is more eco however it would of been nice if this was heated up before we arrived as we felt this definitely took the luxury away from the hot tub and found it more of a nuisance. The log burner in the lodge did warm the lounge area with the sofas but the bedroom and bathroom still remained very cold I would recommend bringing a hot water bottle and warm clothes if staying in the cooler months. We did enjoy our stay and would recommend it to others but feel it wasn’t the stay that we had hoped for which is unfortunate. I’m also a part time social influencer and I always blog wherever I stay and I have had a lot of interest in my stay with you at Lower Coombe Royal but have had to be honest in the areas I feel let it down.…
