Come and enjoy the tranquility and beautiful setting of South Allington House for the perfect rural getaway. Nestled in a picturesque secluded valley minutes from the beach, the magnificent Georgian house offers bed and breakfast en-suite rooms, and self-catering barn conversions, within vast grounds. Very comfortable, clean and well kitted out for a large group. Managed to sit 13 of us round the kitchen table for breakfast with enough crockery etc for everyone. Comfortable beds and classy bedding/towels too. Grounds are beautiful and Tesco delivered to back door- bonus!!! Word of warning - satnav not best way from A38- too many narrow lanes, we went back via Kingsbridge which was much better....

After being couped up for the last 18 months, (thanks covid!), I decided this looked like the perfect place to blow away the cobwebs, and enjoy some outdoor living for a few days. I under estimated Devons winding, narrow country lanes! Be prepared to meet large farming vehicles too! So if you’re not a particularly brave driver, this place isn’t for you. It’s quite a way from Kingsbridge town centre, so be prepared to travel. But I will say, the beautiful surroundings kind of make the distance worth it. It’s very quiet, and the site really is very pretty. It has everything going for it. Sadly, the shower blocks really let it down. They’re dark and dingy, and look grubby. The men’s especially. I strongly suggest flip flops or sliders to be worn. I also found it very strange, that no one came to check or greet us. Upon arrival, there is a sign on the door of the Manor House, “campers go to the kitchen door”, this was the first of many “signs”. For a small site, it lacked the personal touch, and wasn’t very welcoming. Perhaps if we stayed in the manor house it’s self, we would have actually met the owner! Also, if you’ve never been to Devon before, make sure you do your homework first, as there is no information available at the site to tell you where anything is. We enjoyed our break, but for me, had I have known about the shower block, it would have been a deal breaker.…

V well set up campsite. Good management of facilities for COVID - bathrooms/showers frequently cleaned and always tidy. Outlook v attractive - surrounded by fields with sheep and cows. Internet connection poor in some areas of the site but in many ways this made us chill out. Dartmouth and Salcombe both about 30mins away. Narrow lanes to get to the campsite - this ensured it was peaceful. Would definitely recommend.

This is a nice little (or actually quite grand) place. A friendly reception and spotlessly clean and comfortable room. The location is also fabulous, set in some stunning countryside and with grounds in which you can relax in the sunshine. The room was very dated, though. I don't actually think this is a problem but the wallpaper in Room 4 does need some attention. And it would be good to have all the information for the room in one place rather than lots of little notices about hot water, WiFi password etc. stuck up all over the place. That all said, I would have no hesitation in returning.

Stayed over a weekend, friendly and great spot very quite, nice place to relax. Good breakfast . The room we had was a little dated but spacious and lovely views over the grounds would go back. Seemed out of the way but once you know where it is pretty handy for local visits

My partner and I, with our dog, camped for 4 nights in the gardens of South Allington House. The grounds were gorgeous, and peaceful and due to the time of year, really quiet. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. There was a small area for washing up, with the use of fridge/freezers and shower/toilet block. These were pretty rustic but clean enough. Although you could have breakfast at the manner house and cream tea, it’s not something we did, so we can’t comment. We traveled out every day to places like Hope Cove, Strete Beach (dog friendly) and Dartmouth Castle where we had the most amazing Cream Tea! We would highly recommend staying here. For the 4 nights, including our dog, in a large 2/3 man tent, we paid £72

Just returned from a family holiday in The Laurels at South Allington house. Altogether there was 9 adults and 3 kids. It was a lovely wing of the main house with the focal point being the huge dining kitchen where everyone spent most evenings. The grounds were stunning and the location of the property is in a stunning area of Devon. The kids loved the grounds and I would highly recommend to any big group.

If you want to totally get away from the madding crowd then this is the place for you. Basic amenities but plenty of space per pitch. The sea is quite a walk away and the local beach is small, don't try driving there with anything bigger than a car! The nearest town, Kingsbridge has all the shops, cafes and amenities you might need for extra entertainment. Beware, no mobile 'phone signal!

Lovely old house tucked away in deepest south hams , not far from lannacombe, Tara and start point , would easily pass by apart from sign advertising cream teas. Sat in the garden in the summer and enjoyed the tranquility whilst eating a perfectly good cream tea . Would recommend as something different

We have been searching for a traditional cream tea in this part of Devon and now we've found the perfect one. Definitely find this place and sample the fabulous afternoon teas (homemade warm scones, cakes, lovely drinks). So very accommodating and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Even opened for us on a day they would normally be closed by pre-arrangement. Lovely, lovely people. A must visit :)
