Absolutely amazing long weekend. If you get the chance to stay, book it! Julia is lovely and the most amazing host. We couldn’t have asked for more. Would recommend to everyone. Feeding the baby lambs was a wonderful bonus.

We had the most cosy, relaxing stay in The Granary. It's spacious with everything you need for your stay, including wonderful bread, jams and fresh apple juice for breakfast. We loved the sauna with views over the countryside- perfect for warming up after a chilly walk. And the wood fired hot tub too. Julia is very friendly and welcoming, and on hand to help with anything you might need.

What doesn’t Devon Yurts offer? A surprisingly spacious yurt with a hotel-level of comfort bed and all made ultra snuggly by the wood burning stove in the corner. Great facilities with a shared kitchen/shower room and of course the very delicious wood fired hot tub. A wonderful rural location. And an excellent host- Julia perfectly balances being on hand to provide advice and helpful suggestions (local pubs, walks and afternoon tea venues) without being intrusive. The awards are well deserved!

We could not have asked for a better holiday in Little Links. It was perfect for me and my kids. They loved feeding the lamb, playing with the puppy, stroking the horses and generally being able to run around. The view is stunning, the hot tub was amazing. The whole set up was brilliant. Julia is a fantastic host and made plenty of time to chat with us and show us around. She also made us some fantastic supers which meant i didn’t have to cook every night! The facilities are brill and Julia made it so easy for us to restock kindling, charcoal, wood, delicious honey, apple juice to die for! Did I mention the kitchen set up is also great with a lovely huge shower, fridge freezer and clothes washing and drying areas. My son described this place as a little slice of heaven and it sure was. We can’t wait to return. Thank you Julia x

Arrived on Monday and met Julia the super helpful owner who told us all we needed to know about the Yurt, hot tub and some of the local walks. What followed was a lovely few days of dog walks on beaches and Dartmoor and a great pub lunch at the Castle Inn at Lydford - again on Julia’s recommendation. The Yurt itself was lovely and comfortable especially the bed. The hot tub was great and all cooking equipment was provided and there is a big shared fridge freezer. Our dog made friends with Julia’s lovely dog too. Highly recommended and we’d love to return next year.

My wife and I had an amazing x4 night stay in the Granary building as part of our trip to Devon and Cornwall. More of a base for trips to Padstow but soon we realised it was much more than that... The Granary bedroom is lovely with the adjoining the loft space which is huge. The bath is a lovely touch and not forgetting the star gazing windows. The whole farm has a rustic charm and is perfect for animal lovers who want to unwind and enjoy nature. Julia is a wonderful host, always around the farm doing jobs and making sure the guests have everything as well as all the animals. Beautiful horses, sheep and the (hilarious) chickens + duck. There is the granary barn + x2 fantastic yurts (with their own hot tubs and facilities) so be sure to look up all the options. If you want butler service, champagne on arrival and slippers put on your feet as you walk across fields then this isn't for you. This is a slice of natural beauty, at one with nature and enjoying the countryside surroundings. We will be back 100%!!! Thanks Julia!!! P.s. To anyone reading the 3/5 Shelly review I would say this is very harsh. To someone complaining about how long it takes to heat up a burner or whether solar lights were in the right place or that the shower was 10m from the yurt or that the host didn't introduce themselves they should maybe stick to a fancy hotel. The yurts are in beautiful nature, organised well with a great host and with the best views will see so the fact your outdoor shower is 10m away which is too far for you doesn't mean you should mark down this amazing gem!

Just back from a weekend at Little Links, our friends stayed in Great Links. Such a gorgeous place - a huge hit with us and our teenager. Julia and her family were the most generous and friendly hosts, letting us get on with our weekend but also around if we wanted to chat or ask anything. They have found the perfect balance between embracing a bit of outdoor living with providing comforts - lovely bed linen and bed, gorgeous shower, wood fired hot tub surrounded by flowers. Even with unpredictable weather, the stars were amazing and the yurts were warm and cosy at night with candles and the wood stove. Each element at Devon Yurts is carefully positioned to make the most of the stunning views. Julia went out of her way to ensure our daughter had a lovely weekend; letting her groom the ponies, introducing her to the friendly sheep or a cuddle with the kittens which made the weekend. We had a fabulous weekend and are all keen to stay again!

Just back from a long weekend stay at Great Links. The yurt was amazing, well equipped and the bed was sooo comfortable. We easily lit the hot tub which was warm within an 1hr or so and sat back and enjoyed the view. The hot tub is perfectly situated for the best views over Dartmoor. Julia was an excellent host, explained everything we needed to know when we arrived and was available around the farm all weekend. She really kindly let us cuddle their new kittens. The outside shower was convenient and warm. But we mainly used the barn shower. We also lit the wood fire in the yurt a couple of nights when it got chilly, with the tea lights lit all around the yurt and the wood fire on it was so cosy. Fabulous relaxing weekend would definitely recommend. And thank you Julia for making us feel so welcome.

Prior to our trip, it got cancelled due to Covid-19 however Julia changed the booking with ease. We contacted the host prior to our attendance to ask some questions which were answered promptly. On arrival we pulled up and tried calling the number on the we site as we didn’t know what to do. We are assuming it was Julia that approached our vehicle, unfortunately she never actually introduced herself. We wound down the window and explained that we didn’t know what to do and she asked to give 10 minutes and she would show us around. We were shown an outbuilding with a table with products to which we could purchase and Pay at then end of our trip, we were shown an outbuilding which was for the use of all the guests. It has plug sockets, sink, fridge freezer, washing facilities, shower and toilet. It was warm and clean. We were then taken to Great Links which is a large yurt in a large field. It is approximately 200-300m walk from the vehicle on a grass track. It was awkward carrying all our belongings to the yurt due to the terrain and distance. We were provided with a wheel barrow which helped a lot! Down the track is an outdoor shower it was Luke warm and a sink next to it which produced hot water for cleaning dishes, having a wash etc. The toilet is a lot in this small set up which has no light Inside. Approximately 10-15m from the shower is the outdoor hot tub. It was a shame that the tub wasn’t closer to the yurt but this didn’t affect our experience. The tub looks small but it it did fit the four of us in, it’s deceiving. The tub is heated with a log burner. We were advised that it takes approximately 1 hour to heat heat depending on our paddle skills. No real guidance given to heat it up and were left to our own devices. The first evening, we wasted a fair amount of logs because it wasn’t getting hot, so the following day we used YouTube to find out how to sort it. It took about 3 hours to heat it up, so give yourself time. There is no lighting near the hot tube other than the solar lights that light the path very slightly. It was night at night looking at the stars and moon etc. We took our telescope and the view was amazing as we had clear nights. The hot tube was merky from ash coming into the water but this is normal according to the internet. We then walked to the Yurt, it was large and the main bed was a 6ft solid wooden bed with a very comfortable Matress and bedding. There was a day bed which was a metal frame and looked nice, then we asked where the futon was for our son. This was like a thin cushion less than an inch thick just folded on the floor. Our dogs bed was 3 time thicker than the mat provided. This was disappointing for the money we paid. So be prepared if you are a family of more than 3. My husband ended up driving back home to get one of our camp beds. I wished we’d known prior to going as I feel it was unacceptable. There were rugs which were made of sheep’s fur which were lovely on the floor, it was rustic with two tables, chairs, two bedside tables and a log burner. The log burner was fab, it produced a lovely heat! I would recommend taking a dustpan and brush as there were no cleaning facilities provided to clean up each day. We had disinfectant wipes etc of our own so we could clean our surfaces but never thought to take a brush. It started to get dark and we were looking for the solar lights which is what was advertised, we quickly realised the only solar lights were on the path outside. There were several tea lights around the tent but nothing else. So my husband also picked up more head torches and more tea lights from home when he drove back. We used the head torch to hang above one of the tables which provided us with some light to play games. The hand lamp which was provided needed to be wound up and went out after seconds. We had rain whilst we stayed and soon noticed there were a few holes in the yurt, two of which were above the day bed, they were small hole so not much came through. There were gaps around the yurt which allowed entry to the wasps, this wasn’t so great. It certainly wasn’t glamping, we love camping and thought that is would be great to not have to set up our own tent, however I have to say, we have more facilities in our own tent so wouldn’t return. As a family we made the most of the situation and had a fab time. We didn’t see the host at all until we left for us to pay for what we purchased. If you take a dog the field isn’t enclosed so something to be aware of. Our dog did love running around and due to our space being so large he was able to just run around with no issues. We did visit Lydford gorge, strawberry fields and a bar called fox and grapes. Bring extra head torches, hand torches, citronella

Response from Julia Martin, Owner at Devon Yurt
Responded 30 Sept 2020
Hi Shelley and thanks for your feedback. As we all know, these are difficult times at the moment, the fact that your May holiday was rescheduled due to corona virus must have been a disappointment for you, however, we were pleased that we could reschedule you to an August break and hope that you appreciated that we didn't add a surcharge even though your holiday was moved to the peak season. As your children were quite little, we didn't offer the extra thick mattresses which we give to our older guests, however, we do however have extra thick futons for any guests should they wish, we just wished that you had asked. We will review the extra bedding packages for next season but in 13 years of hosting holidays here we have had no complaints regarding the bedding and we generally match the needs to the guest very well. At Devon yurt, we offer a glamping holiday and as such still need to retain an element of camping. We are not a hotel, and although of course we wish to maximise everyones' comfort, it is also important to allow living space in the yurts during the day time so a compromise is sought. I hear what you are saying regarding the lighting, last season we used very stylish, remote control LED candles, but due to corona virus we removed those for this season as having different people touching the remote controls was considered too much risk. So for the 2020 season, we returned to tea lights where we use extra large ones beside the beds to maximise the light and numerous other lanterns throughout the yurt. We have extra lanterns and candles available in the log barn should guests need more light and, in our welcome notes, we ask our guests to bring a head torch with them to add extra light when moving around the outside areas. One of the joys of being at Devon Yurt is the beautifully dark night sky so having too much light pollution would distract from that, and the wonderful views of the stars at night. We are not in a street light area - having said that, there will be a LED candle with remote switch turned to Great Link's toilet facility next season and they will be returned to the yurts providing we have moved beyond the current corona virus situation. We will add solar lights around great links yurts' hot tub too next season, as we have with the little links yurt, but will make sure they can be turned off should guests want to truly experience the dark night sky, from our experience though, few people do turn them off so then they lose the full night sky experience, it is a difficult call to please everyone. The yurt canopies do get wear and tear due to the nature of the canvas fabric, be rest assured however, that the top canopy was already programmed to be replaced in full for the 2021 season. If any guest needs help during their stay here at Devon Yurt, I am always on hand as I live on site, I pay particular attention to my guests needs and always provide guests with my mobile and house no. should they need to call at any point 24/7 - we do however, allow our guests optimum privacy and don't interfere with their time here, this has been particularly the case this season due to the corona virus and imposed social distancing rules and the safety of everyone staying and working here. I am sorry that you found it difficult to get the heat into the hot tub, as mentioned during my demonstration of the hot tub with you during your tour of the site, you need to get a strong fire burning in the log chamber for maximum effect. We have a video demonstrating this on our facebook page should guests need further clarity. We always reassure our guests too that if you have any difficulty whatsoever in getting heat into the hot tub, just give us a call and we are on hand to help. Thank you for choosing to stay at Devon Yurt and we hope that you are all well and safe.

After months of lock down in the the city we were eager to get back into nature. We booked 3 nights at Devon Yurts Little Links and it was a heavenly experience from the moment we arrived. Julia has created a magical space to unwind, surrounded by creature comforts whilst still feeling close to the wilderness. Watching sheep graze from the hot tub was a highlight and we could easily drive into Dartmoor for long country walks. The Cornish Arms was open for a hearty Sunday lunch and Strawberry Fields Farm Shop is worth a detour if heading past Lifton. Loved every moment of this weekend of rejuvenation.
