Sylvia was the perfect host, the welcome with fresh roses, home made apple juice and cake and treats for the dog was a lovely start to our romantic get away in this tranquil setting. Every need was thoughtfully catered for and nothing was too much trouble. Orchard Barn is cosy, warm, beautifully decorated, the hot tub, log burner and free standing bath added to the luxury and we felt so relaxed that we hardly wanted to go out. But when we did explore Dartmoor it was lovely to return to this delightful place where we felt very much at home. Three nights was not long enough, hope to return.

We have had the most amazing 5 days staying here!! Sylvia is a fantastic host and so accommodating. We took our working dogs and used the kennels outside and they were fantastic! Provided us with locks for them and reassurance that they would be kept an eye on whilst out for the day! The perfect place for r&r with the beautiful surrounding countryside, relaxing in the hot tub or in front of the log burner! Close villages and towns to explore and fantastic recommendations for restaurants. Beaches not too far away to explore and walk. We really didn’t want to leave but can’t wait to come back! Thank you for an amazing holiday x

What a superb find this cottage was. Our family of 4 (and 2 Westies) have recently returned home after a fabulous week spent in Cow Barn. The barn is in a beautiful setting and had an awesome view of the surrounding countryside. Sitting up by the apple tree with a glass in hand and just soaking up that view was delightful (sitting in the hot tub looking out was nearly as good). The cottage was homely, spotless and very well equipped. The Nespresso machine was an absolute bonus as I had begrudgingly left mine behind. It was lovely being able to take the dogs straight into the fields and down to the pretty stream, they absolutely loved their holiday. They explored right around the field whilst we played cricket or rounders. It was all dog proofed. Such an array of flora and fauna to enjoy at the property - we saw a Kingfisher and fish in the stream there are chickens, geese, kittens, pippistrelle and Daubenton bats and we even had sheep put into the field right next to our cottage. I was in my element. Sylvia was a brilliant host and extremely welcoming and it was lovely chatting with her when we saw her out and about around the grounds. She really does a great job with great attention to detail but definitely not intrusive in any way. Highlights of our week (other than just sitting chilling) were Dingles Heritage Fairground (our boys of 14 and 11 and a very excitable dad absolutely loved it), Lydford Gorge river trail, the Jamaica Inn smugglers museum and dog friendly restaurant and the drive over Dartmoor seeing the cows, ponies and sheep roaming free against the stark contrast of Dartmoor Prison! Wow. We had a great curry takeaway from Sagor Tandoori and great Chinese takeaway from Launceston. The farmshop is brilliant and you will want to buy everything! We honestly enjoyed everything about this place and hope to go back.

We had a lovely week staying in Apple House, we received a warm welcome from Sylvia with flowers, fresh eggs, bottle of wine along with a delicious cake & some treats for our Labrador, Mollie on arrival. The barn was excellent, everything we needed for the house & garden, with high quality fixtures & fittings so it really felt like home from home. Comfortable bed so slept really well (could do with some firmer pillows please) Wonderful addition to have the fields & stream for the dogs to run in, especially welcome as some of the days of our stay had high temperatures, a dip in the stream for humans & canines was most refreshing. Enjoyed the hot tub & bbq on the evenings. Barn & contents were all very clean & fresh, all full of character. Living in a barn conversion ourselves we battle with cellar spiders on a daily basis, so that would be the only thing as most corners had webs with them in. We had a wonderfully relaxing break, internet access was really good downstairs (was poor upstairs) we would highly recommend staying at DCB. Our dog Mollie was made to feel right at home (even when she decided to ‘visit’ the family next door lol) so if you are looking for luxury accommodation that is also perfect for your four legged friends then look no further.

Well what a special place. Lovely retreat with super views of the valley. Our welcome included a blueberry lemon cake, tea/coffee, milk, wine and roses. Our two dogs were also treated to treats , a ball and poop bags …and chews. We loved the cottage…lovely and cool with the tiled floor. Our favourite space was the snug… great for jigsaws and the log fire was welcome on the cool evening. A hot tub with a view 🥰 Beds were comfy and the spiral stairs is an ideal barrier for the dogs! Loved the walk over the fields … down to the river……the ducks and chickens entertained us too. Oh the EV chargers bliss! The owner couldn’t do enough for us. Great farm shop 2 miles away….lemon curd to die for…you must find Tintagel brewery…..we recommend Happy Valley adventure park, Valley garden, our favourite dog beach was Travarwith Strand. What could be different? Struggled with the shower curtain and a shelf for bottles/soap, enough space to shower without flooding the floor…a really minor issue. Thoroughly recommend! Andy & Caz x

This place is so beautiful, we arrived abit early but our barn was ready and waiting for us and we had a lovely warm welcome by the owner, we were met inside by fresh eggs and a freshly baked cake and picked flowers. The hot tub was ready to go with towels available, the barn itself was beautiful, underfloor heating, fridge, cooker, dishwasher, log fire, a TV with great reception, bbq and chairs outside to chill in the sunshine, they also had kennels for dogs by the car park guests could use if they couldn't take their dog out for the day, amazing place, don't take the kids just go n chill, would definitely recommend and will be going back again soon. Absolutely loved our time here

From the moment we arrived at Cow barn, we felt totally relaxed! Sylvia the owner, was super welcoming and the barn was spotless and equipped with all that we needed and more……flowers, wine and a delicious cake to name a few. The setting of the barn and the large garden with hot tub was an added bonus for us with two energetic dogs and it was lovely to chill in such beautiful surroundings with our family. We will definitely be returning……a very special place! Thank you 😊

We stayed here with our 11 month old for just under a week. Well equipped, clean and in a beautiful setting, Apple House was the backdrop for a great family holiday. We also loved the chickens! We would definitely recommend.
