Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We opened the door to the roundhouse & all we could say was wow ! It doesn't get better than this ! Location was great , lovely scenery. Lot's of local wildlife, deer, birds of prey - great for nature lovers We found that we spent a great deal of our time sitting outside & enjoying the view. The owners were very welcoming & nothing was too much trouble. Everything was spotlessly clean on this family working farm. Highly recommended !

We’ve just come home from a wonderful stay in Swallows Barn at Drewstone Farm. Swallows barn is the perfect getaway for a family holiday. It’s really well presented, clean adn tidy and finished to a high specification. It really is a fantastic location and our boys loved seeing the wildlife and sheep - they got really excited seeing deer in the field one morning. You can really get away from it all as it is tucked away down a fabulous farm lane. Peace and tranquility for a week, just the sounds of the countryside. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. Possibly one of the best farm stays we've had and we hope to return again soon

We recently stayed in the Roundhouse at Drewstone Farm and have to say it’s probably the best holiday cottage we’ve ever stayed in!! Views and location is superb, the local town is less than 5 mins drive away, and it has everything you could possibly want for a holiday. Would highly recommend this place and we will DEFINITELY be booking again! Thanks to the owners for making us feel very welcome

12 months later we have returned to the roundhouse for 2 weeks, and being our 2nd visit to this property. The property, and views, yes are superb. There's no denying that.. And we had 2 weeks of amazing weather, that one could wish for. However . . . early into the first week, I thought I spotted, and heard a hornet. This was both day, and at night. It appeared I wasn't far wrong, when we had two, that worryingly entered the property, causing some concern. It was from here things became more uncomfortable during our second week. The hornets were on the glass all round the building in the evenings, feeding off the midges etc, aswell as attracted by the lights. So on return from a day trip, we had to keep both doors, and windows closed, in such ridiculous heat, to prevent them coming in. After reporting it to the host, it was stipulated somebody will be attending, to deal with the matter further. And unfortunately we heard nothing more on the subject. Not impressed, especially when children could be present, and the potential of a hornets nest, being in close proximity to the property. When paying good money like we have. It's nice to be able to sit out and chill in the evening, on return after a lovely day out. But don't expect to be watching our backs, in the event of a sting, or multiple stings from hornets in a nearby nest. The idea of a holiday, is to be able to relax, both inside and out.

Response from Drewstone Farm, Owner at Drewstone Farm
Responded 21 Sept 2023
We attended the property immediately when you called regarding the insect, and removed it. We contacted a pest control company, as we said we would. They visited the property the same week, and found no signs of hornet activity at all. The cottage is situated in a very rural area surrounded by trees, therefore it would be impossible to locate and/or eradicate all insects. The pest control man left a full report of the situation, which I attempted to offer you a copy of when I came to see you, but you said you didn't have time to speak. Kind regards Drewstone Farm

The property had everything you could need and more, the luxury of having 3 bathrooms was a dream come true. The little extra touches (like the roses on the table and the treat basket was a real added bonus). The location of this property is outstanding. Power showers, comfy beds and spotlessly clean! Thanks guys for a FABULOUS holiday!!!

Staying at the very lovely Drewstone Arches. I’m writing this as I’m sat looking out over fields full of sheep and lambs. What a beautiful sight to see. Very clean and spacious with lots of extras. Lovely welcome box on arrival and especially the fresh flowers! Seen so many different species of birds, even got to see some deer. The stars at night are absolutely stunning. Feel very relaxed and wishing that we didn’t have to leave tomorrow.

A fabulous week away in the very lovely Drewstone Arches. Exceptionally clean with amazing views. This cottage is detached with a very private garden looking out onto the owners fields which were full of lambs. A great time to visit the farm as it was in the middle of the lambing season. Parking literally outside your door which was ideal with little ones. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing break away in the county side then this is the place for you. Close to Exmoor and beaches. What more could you want!
