Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can always rely on Thurlestone Hotel to make your visit a memorable one. The staff are so warm and friendly and the meals are excellent. On this visit it was a birthday celebration and we had Prosecco in our room, a birthday cake and Bucks Fizz with our breakfast.

Hotel's Favourite
We have just returned from celebrating our anniversary at the Thurlestone Hotel and it was perfect - the weather also played ball by laying on two days of beautiful sunshine. From the moment we arrived - and Terry-Louise and her team gave us such a lovely welcome - we knew it was going to be a wonderful stay. We had a seaview room with a balcony, the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a glass of celebratory fizz. We had not been down since the recent refurbishments and the ground floor looked resplendent - particularly the bar area which is bright and welcoming in the early evening and then delightfully cosy later on. We ate breakfast at the hotel and also had an evening meal too on the Saturday. The service throughout the restaurant was attentive, precise and nothing was too much trouble (even having to push back our dinner booking at short notice because of an unscheduled wine delay!). The dinner menu was sensational so choosing was quite the art but as I don't usually have it I chose the guinea fowl and it was unbelievably good. As the weather was so lovely we went out for a couple of morning walks along the coast path before returning to lounge by the outdoor pool. Even though there was a cool easterly breeze the outdoor pool is so well protected from the wind it felt like we were abroad and we had to make a mercy dash to the local shop for some suncream! We were also not sure that we have ever seen the grounds and gardens looking quite so beautiful. We saw a fair few people go off to play golf and play tennis but the poolside was too inviting! Well done to Luke and the team that run this exquisite hotel.

We came to celebrate a birthday weekend as a family and loved the time at the hotel. The service was great, the food lovely and all in all very relaxing. We used the Spa and the tee time at Thurlestone Golf Club so there was something for all of the family to enjoy. Bonus was great weather!

We are considering whether to visit again as the bar service was unacceptable,a problem with the wine list and the road seems to have become much busier than on previous visits which is a problem for guests of our age

Dear Gordon W Thank you for your review following your recent stay with us. I have contacted you directly regarding the bar service on the evening of our Christmas Fayre and the printing issue on our wine list and would like to again extend my apologies that we allowed this to occur. I hope we can welcome you back to stay with us again soon and show that this was a lapse in our usual standards of service. I am afraid there is little I can do about the roads to reach us. Ut will have been busier on the evening of the event due to the number of people who attend the hotel and pub on that day but this is not a common occurrence and our reception team did pre warm any residents and ensure provision was made for their parking. Kind regards Luke Comerford General Manager

The hotel staff are so helpful, the rooms are clean and well equipped. The spa treatment was incredible. The breakfast and the evening meal were both outstanding. The choices for both meals were really good.

Our second time to the Thurlestone and they are consistently good at providing a personal and friendly guest experience for our family of four! We were greeted as returning guests upon arrival and reception confirmed that we wanted the same room as before due to proximity to the family playroom and restaurant. They also made sure that we were eligible for the extra 30% discount for low season that had just been launched the day before. Can’t think of many places that would do this proactively! Paul on the bar was super helpful - even popping the restaurant lights off late one night so we could see the lightning from the impending storm! Terri-Louise from reception was brilliant too. Well definitely be back!
