Woolacombe Bay Hotel is a special place you can retreat to escape the hubbub of the everyday. When you stay with us you are invited to enjoy a world of experiences, doing as much (or as little!) as you like. Whether the sky is blue or the waves big and the wind whistling, you can make this your home and fill your days in all the best ways... Much of the Hotel has been lovingly restored from the mid-1800's, creating its unique and tranquil atmosphere. High ceilings, chandeliers, and comfortable, quiet lounges are a testament to that era, and where first-class modern amenities are required, they have been skilfully incorporated into the existing Woolacombe accommodation. We place a high value on our team. Trained to be attentive yet unobtrusive and to provide the kind of personal service that is so often hard to find. There are so many ways you can make your stay at the hotel extra special. From private gym sessions to soul-soothing massages, little in-room surprises to blockbuster movie experiences... it's all possible.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband booked us a few nights as a treat for my birthday as we’ve visited north Devon often and always fancied staying there. It didn’t disappoint. The hotel is just lovely. We had a room with a balcony and sea view. Very modern, clean and comfortable. We made use of the pool, sauna etc, which was included in the price, it was just spa treatments that were extra. We ate one night on site and the food was great. All of the staff were lovely, could not do enough for you. Well worth the money and we will be back

We are so pleased to hear that after many visits to Devon you finally spent a few nights indluging at The Bay for your birthday (well done, husband!) Hotel's Favourite
This is our second stay at this hotel. I can only echo some of the other reviews. Clearly the staff care about their hotel and the hotel is stunning. An older building but I cannot believe how well maintained the hotel is. It had every facility you will ever need. You could stay and never leave the hotel which was our aim. It is so unusual to be looked after so well by staff in a hotel in this country (in my experience). I loved every single thing about our stay and we will definitely return and I’m looking forward to it already. We are at their Brasserie and again - top notch. As mentioned previously by another customer, I’m not quite sure why this is not a 5 star hotel. They can do no more. Thank you for our lovely stay 😊

Dear TreeJones, Thank you for reviewing your second stay with us here at Woolacombe Bay Hotel, we are delighted you chose to return to us. All of our team are extremely passionate about delivering great service and hospitality and it's wonderful to hear that shone through during your stay with us. We're also delighted that you love the overall design and character of The Bay. We have a small in-house team that plan and carry out annual winter refurbishments and enhancements to keep things looking fresh and exciting for our guests and we love that you enjoyed all the facilities available. You've summed up some of our aims perfectly. To create a sanctuary where you can park the car, check in, chill out, and let us take care of you, even if only for a little while...We can't tell you how happy your review makes us feel as hoteliers! We're really looking forward to welcoming you back. Take care, see you soon, Joanna (& The WBH Team)

Well appointed hotel with super staff. The room was beautifully kept, the handmade biscuits delicious and the mattress was good. Good bathroom but we didn’t really use it as we were in the spa as much as poss. The spa was very good and quite new. The jacuzzi could do with a sign as it was very deep which wasn’t visible and it was a hazard.the pool was lovely and clean and was big enough to swim. The cinema was a great addition with really recent movies and so comfortable. The brasserie food was superb. We would have liked more info in the room on opening/ closing times for the various bars and facilities but we had a lovely break the location is second to none. Would love to come back in the spring and see it in a different season and taking advantage of the outdoor pool.thank you to all the waiting, reception and cleaning staff you are the people who made our stay great.

Dear Ever-curios2, Thank you for taking a moment to review your stay with us. We are pleased you enjoyed the handmade biscuits in your hotel bedroom, and you found the bed to be comfortable. We're also delighted to hear that you enjoyed watching a movie in Neo Cinema, and you enoyed your dining expriences in the Bay Brasserie. For 2024 we are planning to present all hotel information in a slightly different format upon arrival, as well as the in-room booklets, which our guests can experience from re-opening in 2024. Thank you for your feedback about this, it's really helpful for us to know. Hopefully we have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the springtime. Kind regards, Joanna WBH

From the moment we walked through the doors to the moment we checked out I can honestly say our 4 night stay was one of the most truly wonderful experiences. The hotel is amazing, the team are world class from breakfast to dinner, through to the amazing cocktails in the evening each day. The food is worthy of a Michelin star. Our suite called the Potters was amazing, spacious and contained everything you could possibly need to make us welcome and have the perfect stay combined with the various facilities it was just 5 star throughout. By the time we left and was checking out it felt like we were saying goodbye to old friends. We will be back to revisit this amazing fabulous hotel and the fantastic team that made our stay one of the best ever. See you soon Clive & Shan

The hotel is out of this world. The staff are lovely and have so much pride for the hotel. Sea view room had a spectacular view. Only a few minutes walk to the beach via a private gate. Spa is fantastic. The hotel is clearly incredibly well run by people who really care and know how to make a hotel stay special. This is our first time here and we will be coming again. Thank you to the staff and owners for a fabulous stay. My 12 year old son absolutely adored it as did I.

We had a lovely time, staff were very kind and attentive including the lovely man overseeing the car park who could not have been nicer. Restaurant and front of house staff equally lovely and helpful. We would definitely stay again, so good that the hotel filters water for guest drinking.

What a wonderful hotel - family run and every attention to detail. It was spotlessly clean which is much appreciated and extremely comfortable. The food was fantastic and the staff charming. In particular Jonathan was outstanding. Can’t wait to have another chance to visit. Oh - and the beach was to die for!

Just returned from a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel, and we're already planning our next visit! It was our first stay, and we were blessed with fantastic weather that let us make the most of the hotel's beachside location and fabulous outdoor pool. We were so glad we booked a sea view room as the views are incredible. We loved the sympathetic way that the hotel decor had been updated, combining original features that ooze tradition and old-style luxury with all the modern conveniences you could wish for. The atmosphere was so relaxing that after two nights we felt like we'd been away for a fortnight. All the staff were so helpful and friendly – nothing was too much trouble for them. Everywhere there were extra little touches – like cafetières and home-made biscuits in the room – that made us feel truly pampered. We ate at the Brasserie on both evenings, and were impressed with the food and service (though it would have been nice to have the option of some salad or fresh fruit dishes). Breakfast in the impressive Doyle's was huge and delicious with so much choice it was difficult to decide! Service everywhere was always impeccable. I had booked two treatments at the spa and they were so lovely that I had to book one more! And in the evenings after a hard day's eating and pampering we were able to catch the latest films in the extremely cushy 30-seater cinema – think squishy sofas, footstools and at-seat waiter service. If you enjoy a relaxed, old-style seaside stay in a classy, traditional atmosphere you will love the Woolacombe Bay Hotel.
