Travellers' Choice
The Watersmeet hotel located on the quiet edge of Woolacombe is one of Devon's finest coastal hotels. It is perfectly perched on the cliff edge above a quiet, sandy beach known as Combesgate beach. All but three of the bedrooms offer spectacular sea views to Lundy Island and Baggy Point. A number of the bedrooms have sea view balconies or terraces where you can sit and watch magnificent sunsets. The seaward side of the hotel offers one long, uninterrupted panorama and whether you're reading the paper in the lounge or dining in the restaurant you can enjoy the most wonderful views of the sea and rolling surf. The very best pocket sprung beds; thick, luxurious duvets; crisp white linen and superior memory foam pillows ensure a comfortable night's sleep. 2 AA rosette awarded the Rock's restaurant and Bistro offer a high standard of cuisine. On the hotel's doorstep is one of the country's best surfing beaches and a top links golf course. The hotel could not be better placed with scenic National Trust land that surround the hotel and beautiful coastal footpaths to Mortehoe Point, Croyde and Lee.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Lived in the area for a long time but never visited this hotel until recently when we decided to treat ourselves for Valentine's day. We booked in quite last minute but we are so happy that we did as it was an amazing night. From the second we walked in we were welcomed by a polite gentleman at reception who directed us to the restaurant and bar where we had complementary bubbly and ordered the special Valentine's cocktail. He later kindly gave us valentine's chocolates, but we were so full we couldn't eat them! The food was delicious and the staff were professional, patient and attentive and the atmosphere was very relaxed which was nice. Thank you Mark for a lovely experience, we will definitely be back with the whole family

Top notch as usual. Lovely, welcoming, professional staff. Everything clean, comfortable and well prepared. Good menu options if you choose to eat in. Can't comment on spa as didn't use it on this occasion. Great position with magnificent views towards Baggy Point and Hartland from room, bar and restaurant. Looking forward to next time.

A very relaxing stay in a hotel situated in a fantastic location. The staff were friendly, the room had great views, the menu had good variety and the walks from the front door were gorgeous. Even guests who weren’t staying in the hotel were treated to the amazing views over the sea from the restaurant. I was hoping for a chilled and luxurious 48 hours and that’s exactly what I got.

Fabulous hotel in a beautiful location with the most friendly and welcoming staff. The breakfast was amazing, perfectly cooked using quality produce. Our room was a deluxe sea view with a triple aspect...perhaps my only criticism would be that the two side windows only had Venetian blinds, allowing light to flood in at sunrise! But overall a wonderful short break, would thoroughly recommend and will hopefully return soon.

Absolutely fabulous hotel! We had a beautiful room, with a balcony overlooking the sea - an amazing view, particularly as it was very windy and there were big waves. The food was really lovely - a wide selection and prepared to perfection. All the staff were outstanding - very professional but very friendly. Will definitely be back and would definitely recommend.

We have known of this hotel and it’s location for the best part of 40 years and had taken an afternoon tea here back in 2016. Why we have taken so long to book a stay here in view our recent experience baffles me. On arrival we felt instantly welcomed by the friendly receptionist. Our room was spotless and the views from our windows superb. Equally the restaurant and lounge had stunning views and well furnished and relaxing. Again all the staff attending on us were very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. There is a great walk along the coast path to Morte Point and beyond with a visit to the centre of the Village on the inland route back. The pool, steam room and jacuzzi were also a great place to relax. All in all a great place for a relaxing break.
