The park's cleanliness and prime location near the beach are widely praised, providing easy access to local attractions. Holiday

We are on our way home from a week at Woolacombe Bay's Golden Coast holiday park and thoroughly recommend it as a holiday destination. There was just the 4 of us, myself, my husband, our almost 5 year old and our 6 month old. We stayed in a 3 bedroom gold Lodge which was obviously more than enough space for us as it sleeps 8. We originally had another family member coming and also with a baby with health issues and allergies we needed a proper bath and washing machine. Our first impression was such a positive one, from the beautiful flowers that line the road as you enter to the spotlessly clean lodge that greeted us. We can't fault the cleanliness and tidiness of the whole Park. Especially the furniture, travel cot and highchair. Dirty highchairs are a bug bear of mine and this was immaculate. The furniture around the pools and communal areas in the whole park was clean and well maintained.

We loved the heated outdoor pools and also the indoor pool. We went to a 9.30am aquatots session run by Lauren and both our little ones loved it. We also went made the most of the soft play, inflatable play and the amusements. On our one (extremely) rainy day we filled our time on site and spent several hours at the pottery cafe and then at the various children's activities. The kids disco was a new experience for our boys and the elder one enjoyed it as it was at the right volume for children, we were also able to stay there with the baby as it wasn't loud enough to upset him.

We used the bus for woolacombe itself but also travelled around, the harbour at Ilfracombe and the lovely village of Croyde are definitely worth a visit.

Food - we ordered one takeaway and ate in once at the on site restaurant, we also ate late one evening after a long drive at the old mill. Service was pleasant and food was reasonably priced and of a good standard (the wild mushroom tagliatelle at the old mill was actually delicious). Takeaway menu could have included healthier options which are served in the restaurants. The exciting children's play area at the old mill distracted our 4 year old from a major exhaustion induced meltdown.

Even better ifs: (these are small but worth mentioning).
- lodge windows, only the large windows open and have no security locks so could not be left open at night. They have vents but when our kid's rooms were 26 degrees one night these were little help. We did not feel safe leaving the windows open.
- paid wifi, we only paid for the last 3 days (after the one very rainy day) and found it to be rather intermittent. Not really worth the money.

We would definitely recommend a holiday here and will certainly return to the area and possibly one of the other woolacombe bay parks.

Thank you for taking the time to post a 5-star review of your stay with us in June 2019. I am delighted to read that from the moment you arrived at the Park, you were impressed with the immaculate presentation of the Park, your self-contained Holiday Home accommodation and its facilities. We take great pride in providing a safe haven for our guests to enjoy and it certainly is very rewarding to read how spotlessly clean you found everything upon arrival. It is excellent to learn how thoroughly you and your family enjoyed your break with us here at Golden Coast Holiday Village. We very much appreciate your suggestions and will review them accordingly to further improve the service we provide to you, our loyal guests. We very much hope to welcome you back to our Parks in the future. Orinta Pav – General Manager

Just got back from golden coast and had a great week, first impressions were how beautiful woolacombe itself is. We have done butlins for the last 3 years and found the silver apartment at woolacombe which is their budget accomodation to be of a much higher standard to other places, spotlessly clean and well equipped and check in was very quick and easy. The efforts put in since covid 19 were amazing, hand sanitiser everywhere and filled up constantly, always seing cleaning staff around cleaning touch points, and hand washing stations set up. We could only use the outdoor pool and it was lovely, heated and all slides operating, you are only allowed 30 minute slots but it does ensure everyone got a go and the time we spent in the pool was of better quality as had lots of space and the kids never had to que for the slides so went on again and again.
I would highly recommend food at the old mill it was delicious and well priced! We didn't think anything was over priced on the park really which made a nice change. The entertainment team made a huge effort to do as much as possible with so many limitations and we could see how hard luke, jaz, daisy and Katie worked they literally didn't stop!
As for negatives all I would say was I think the app needs some work As I didn't find it easy to use and I'm ok with tech! The pool times needed monitoring better as one family went in 3 times that we saw which isn't really fair and The entertainment staff shouldn't have to chase peoples kids around because their parents dont keep them in their seats but not sure what the park can do about this.
Over all a fantastic stay and we are looking to book for Easter.

Stayed in an exclusive pet lodge. Lovely weather, had a great time, few little reasons why I didn’t give 5 stars. There was lots of ants in the lodge, my in laws were staying in another lodge and they said theirs was the same with ants. I think the Cutlery and bowls should be replaced. The bowls don’t have great sides on them, and the cutlery is huge. When you have little children using them, like my 2yr old. Trying to eat cereal out the bowl with low sides with a gigantic spoon. I was worried about him using the forks and hurting himself, as the bit that goes in your mouth was huge and longer than regular forks. Just standard bowls and cutlery would be better. I thought having an exclusive lodge, would mean better location on the park. Saw other silver and bronze accommodations that had views of the pond etc, and mine opened onto a main road where cars were constantly up and down, looking out to the camping section. The road was a bit worrying with a dog and a 2yr old, so had to remember to keep the door locked. Also the lack of plug sockets in the property. There was only one in each room, when you have more than one person in each room with things to charge. The bbq looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, inside or out. So didn’t want to cook food on it. Also my in laws said their bbq had no instruments with it, like tongs etc. So because of the those reasons, it was a 4. But there was lots of positives. Showers were lovely and warm, also both the indoor and outdoor pool were very warm. We were able to book activities easily. Pottery painting was fun and we were able to pick it up the next day once glazed. Apart from the ants, the lodge was clean, my dog settled in well there. The entertainment was fun, loved that the children got to join in with bingo as well. Woolacoombe seafront was very very busy, so many people on the paths and beach . My mother in law had to go back to the lodge, as she has a mobility scooter and it was too crowded. We went to croyde beach the next day which was beautiful, and a lot less busy than woolacoombe. My children enjoyed the arcade on site, which we visited a few times. It was open until a good time. Only thing was where you went to get prizes for your tickets, always had a massive queue and was only ever one woman in there at the till. If I had queries, I rang reception and they were very helpful. Nice little touches like the welcome pack, dishwasher tablets etc, dog snacks etc We went to the local Tesco but having nisa on site was handy.

Myself and my wife booked two nights on a touring pitch with our motorhome. On arrival the staff seemed very efficient and we did not ahve to wait tocheck in although this was a Monday. There are 101 touring pitches at this location, we were allocated pitch 91, which was the furthest away from the amenities of the site and the toilet blocks as anyone could be. During the two days we stayed there the maximum number of touring pitches being used were 11. There was absolutely no reason at all for them to put us as far away from everything as they did. Perhaps we could have asked them to move but once you're set up there seems little point in moving especially for only two nights. However, this site would have known how many bookings they had so you would think that they would place people close to amenities on a first come first serve basis.
Also, my wife has a disability and there seems to be noweher on the booking form to advise them of this and it was difficult for her to take the long walk to the toilets. Whilst there we met another couple with a motorhome whose huisband was also disabled and they were placed in the same field on an opposite pitch. His disabled scooter was not working and he was trying to find a way of getting it fixed so that he could head up to the amenities as he could not walk to them. There seems to be no concern by staff for disabled people at this site and in fact there seems to be no consideration at all about where people are located despite how full the park is, and for that reason we will not be coming back here again. I assume this must also be the case for their other parks. Again we will not be visiting those. it's a shame as the facilities here are very good and the onsite shop is the best I've seen at any park.
At this point I would also comment on the showers. The Unisex showers are a great idea as you get a room to yourself with a shower cubicle and sink. However, there is no heating in these rooms at all. The water flow is accessed by a push button which gives a flow for about a minute. I had to push the button four times for warm water to flow, and I mean warm. There is no way of altering the temperature and after around four pushes of warm water I was treated to it reverting back to cold again so had to wait for it to warm up. For the prices they charge at this site I would expect proper taps and a way to make the water hot when I need it. I would also expect some sort of heating in the shower room.
There are many campsites in North Devon which we have used in the past but because our daughter was staying in a chalet here we decided to use this site. We will be returning to other sites who have more consideration for thier customers than this company.

Thank you for taking the time to review your holiday at the Golden Coast Holiday Village. I am sorry to read of your unhappiness regarding the location of your camping pitch. Here on Golden Coast we do indeed have 89 camping pitches and these range from being very close to a short walk away from amenities. We are always happy to change a location as long as there is availability for us to move you too. This time of year, it does not bring as many campers our way, so I'm confident that had you voiced your concerns to a member of our team prior to setting up, every effort would have been made to relocate you to a suitable pitch that you would have enjoyed. I do hope you continue to holiday with the Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks in future and that your experiences get better and better. Orinta Pav - General Manager

Price was dramatically increased and not all facilities open.
Wave machine is a rip off and my children has a total of 4 minutes each, which cost £40!!!!!
The lodge had supposedly had an upgrade, if you cal a coat of paint, new sofa and mattress toppers an upgrade then yes it had but the rest of the lodge was the same and the utensils diabolical.
However, social distancing was adhered too, one way systems, loads of hand sanitiser and all the staff were helpful and happy.
We would still holiday in Woolacombe but will definitely be looking at other options for accommodation.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are disappointed to read you were not entirely satisfied with your break most recently; we are absolutely committed to providing the very best holiday experience as possible and so your feedback is certainly disheartening. The Wavesurfer can accommodate up to 10 persons on a shared hour-long session although you are able to book it out for sole use and this can prove popular for those wanting to really make the most of an hour on our unique surfing simulator. We work tirelessly all year round to keep costs down for our guests and so please accept our sincere apologies that you do not feel that this is the case. We strive for perfection here at Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks, offering 4 Parks and their facilities for the price of one holiday. We always keep our guests’ satisfaction at the forefront of our minds and will go above and beyond to give you the break you so deserve. Your feedback only encourages us to do better and be more and so thank you again for taking the time to post your review. We very much hope to welcome you back to our four award-winning holiday Parks in the near future for another family break. Orinta Pav – General Manager

We have had a lovely break in Woolacombe but not because of Golden Coast.
I'm throughly disappointed with this holiday venue. We hired one of the bronze holiday homes and they may say its " budget friendly" but it still cost a lot of money and it was filthy! I can guarantee I've left it cleaner than when we arrived.
There were actual cobwebs all over the picture in the double bedroom, I had to wash away someone else's hair out of the bath, the smoke alarm is literally hanging off the ceiling, the shower constantly drips, there were food crumbs under the bucket chairs, there was a layer of dust on every window sil, there is paint missing on the doors, I had to sweep the floor when we arrived as you could feel sand under your feet and in the second bedroom the plug socket is literally coming out of the wall!

Ironically they ask you to leave the house clean and tidy to assist with their deep cleaning..... I think we have different understanding of what a deep clean is.

The receptionist I met wasn't very helpful, they want you to book everything via the Woolacombe to Me app but the Internet is so bad here it's hard to book anything so when we went to reception to book the indoor swimming we weren't greeted with a friendly or understanding person but someone who huffed and said they would only book it for us this once! Great people skills.

The pub is fully booked all week for food unless you want to sit outside which is fine if its not raining or there aren't 50mph winds, no one tells you when checking in that the food venues are fully booked.

The lighting on site is rubbish, you can barely see where you are going at night time, purely as a safety issue they need to invest in a lot more lamps!

I'm at a serious loss at how they can charge the prices they do for the service they offer.
I have written to them and I have sent photos of what we were faced with in the house.

This site has such potential but sadly we aren't happy at all with this site at present.

Stay in the area a few times a year. First visit to the Golden Coast park. We visit to see family in the area so need a base. We upgraded to Poachers Paddock on arrival as the silver apartment we were allocated wasn’t cosy enough for what we wanted.
Lodge we got moved to was nice, recently renovated which is good. Although still the old doors on the rooms. The bedroom doors don’t open properly as they open on to the bed frames. And the bed was by far the hardest I’ve EVER slept on (and I like a hard bed!) it was impossible to sleep on, we had to put the single quilts under the bed sheet just so it felt less like sleeping on a wooden floor.

Heating is fantastic, easy to control and warms up nicely. Shower was good, great temperatures and power, also great heated towel rail. Fully stocked kitchen with dishwasher. TV with freeview in lounge. Very cosy and quaint lodge and felt at home for the week.

The park itself... well, very dated, even from entering reception. pool is grotty and dull. Wouldn’t want to be in there at peak season! Only a few ‘changing rooms’ (huts next to the pool). No children’s area. A plain rectangle pool with a bunch of missing tiles... as I said, dull. The sauna is in the basement of the building nowhere near the pool (found it locked so didn’t bother). Cinema is a cold basement room with a few plastic chairs in.

Arcade is good, looks modern and new, bowling alley is ok (expensive), they could invest in a few more varieties of bowling balls oh and pool cues that are long enough for adults to use.

It’s a nice location for Woolacombe beach but for the nicer park and pool and facilities Woolacombe Bay is worth the extra few minutes drive.

Like several other people have said - ignore bad reviews - we returned from a lovely family week away on Friday. We stayed in a New Wave Bronze 4 berth caravan and although this was all that was available when we booked and despite higher prices than we would have liked, it was absolutely ideal. When you go away in the School holidays you have to accept you are paying more wherever you go. As a teacher we have spent 20 years knowing this is the case and it is what it is.

The welcome we received at Golden Coast was faultless and the check in process was made 5 star by the lovely, welcoming female staff member who greeted us at the bus. A huge thank you to her for starting our holiday just as we needed after a rather eventful journey down.

Despite arriving nearly an hour early our accommodation was ready and we were directed clearly. We were staying in Cleavewood and had a lovely caravan situated without any caravans too close by... Result! (55)

The caravan was clean and modern and whilst simple it was all we needed for a family of 4. It was well maintained, clean and tidy and smelt fresh.

The park had reasonable facilities and we particularly enjoyed the outdoor pool and arcades.

The evening entertainment was fun and although it was busy in the club house frankly it is up to YOU as an individual to decide whether you feel COVID safe or not! The park has all of the hand sanitising stations and guidance necessary, clearly displayed and in line with current department for health guidelines. If you want to wear a mask or stay distanced you can. Many people chose not to and that is their decision - the park can only advise and as adults it is your responsibility to make choices about your own risk.

It was a shame the clubhouse was the only place to eat out on site but we could not really understand why people would spend so much on quick convenience food when you can buy a pizza and chips in the on site shop for a total fraction of the price equally there are food outlets nearby and you can cook in your accommodation which is by far the more sensible option cost wise. We loved the local fish and chips and even did some hunter gathering on the beaches, cooking some lovely shellfish 😊

We were regularly communicated with and the ParkStarz were awesome! The leaving text suggesting we left by 8:30am on departure day to avoid M5 congestion was a brilliant bit of advice and we were more than happy to follow it... Happily it saved us 3 hour delays had we left much later!

Woolacombe Golden Coast was great fun and our 9 and 7 year old loved it. Golden Coast provided us with exactly the perfect stay cation we all needed! Would love to come back again.

A huge thank you and more than happy to recommend!

Me and my partner arrived on Friday for 6nights. We stayed in a silver apartment with a balcony , when we arrived we were made feel very welcome. Our apartment was very clean and had a range of own utensils and equipment for us to use. The bathroom was immaculate. The only problem with the apartment is that the fridge was tiny , barely any room , the hot water run for about 5 minutes and then went cold and never returned hot , so had a cold shower.
Our cooker handle broke on the first night of using it , however when reporting this issue , was responded to within 5minutes. The maintenance staff were very friendly.
There is a good range of activity’s for the children such as the wave surfer , high ropes , swimming both indoor and outdoor and parks , amusmants etc..

The arising issues during this holiday is that there wasn’t much communication during the holiday , we never were told much and that we had to book things in advance , we arrived at the park not knowing about entertainment times which were 5:30 or 8:30 , which you had to be in for. When booking swimming indoors was 45minutes long a session which was fine but we never were told any of this about times and session bookings before we arrived at the park so we weren’t very organised. Entertainment on the night were really good me and my partner enjoyed the bingo , quizzes and live music. The staff were all so very lovely and made you feel very welcoming there.

The old mill pub on the site was a lovely place to eat and drink the food was beautifully cooked. There wasn’t much range for food and drink at all to be honest but food was lovely and came out quick. The food and drink prices were ridiculously high me and my partner were not aware of how high the prices were. We had 2 burger and chips meals with 2 pints which cost us over 30 pound. This is obviously as expected with being on holiday prices to be sky high. But we weren’t made aware of any of this.

Over all the holiday park was very friendly , clean and had regulations in place which knowing that the booking isn’t really the parks fault and something they have to follow. Amazing place if you have children lots to do to keep them entertained. We will be returning , at least now knowing what to expect.

Well very disappointed on a arrival to getting our keys and entering the caravan we were welcomed to a dirty caravan, crumbs on the floor, pizza left in the oven, dirty fridge, dirty sheets, rubbish on the floor outside.
We had to clean our own bedding & wash the stuff in the caravan as the man behind the reception didn’t want to see the photos he just sent down house keeping that did half a job
The signal was really bad down where we were at the bottom so we paid £25 for WiFi that didn’t work all week.
The breakfast we ordered was sent to us with it all leaking out the bag.
We had to go down to reception to ask for the table number as it wasn’t wrote on the caravan wall, couldn’t ring as no signal.
Didn’t get put anywhere near my parents who stayed on site.
There place wasn’t even clean they had a dishwasher full of stuff from the previous guests.
All they could offer us was 4 free tickets for the bungee trampoline & climbing wall.
It’s absolutely appalling

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I am disappointed to learn that the cleanliness levels were not up to standard within the accommodation allocated to you, this is something we do not deem acceptable. Cleanliness is vital and we have a thorough process in place to help ensure the high standards needed and expected are met, so it extremely disappointing to hear that these standards were not met, and this be investigated further to stop this from happening again. We very much hope to welcome you back in the future so that we can restore your faith in us as a family holiday provider. Orinta Pav – General Manager
