Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Always lovely to have lunch here & see Jonathan and team. Had my usual Seafood Salad lunch and my Mum and Dad enjoyed Dorset Apple Cake afterwards. There was no rain (just) as promised by Jonathan. A great Fathers Day lunch ;-)

There are only five rooms in this beautiful old property that dates back 550 years and was once the infirmary of the Abbotsbury abbey in whose grounds it is situated. A matter of 50 yards away is the Abbey’s massive tithe barn and mill pond. The setting is idyllic, the gardens beautiful, and the equally ancient ruin of St Catherine’s Chapel sits atop an adjacent hill. The bedrooms are comfortable and well-furnished, and breakfast (which can be served outside in clement weather) freshly prepared to order and very tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our short stay here.

Our second visit to this wonderful place. The host, Jonathan Cooke, is personable and attentive, as are his lovely staff. The rooms are luxurious, with quality bedding and linen. We felt thoroughly relaxed after our 3 nights mini-break here. There are lovely views from the rooms and gardens, which are beautifully kept. The food is delicious and plentiful. Plenty to see in the surrounding areas, a lot of it within walking distance if you don't want to drive. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

As you walk down the path into the garden you feel at home- the stresses and strains of home evaporate! A perfect place for mini break or a break from walking the coastal path. Excellent breakfasts -which can be taken on the lawn on sunny mornings. Home made muesli, proper butter and doorstop slices of toast and comfortable bedrooms. It is an old house so the rooms are not as large as modern built hotels and the hot water takes a while to reach you - but that adds to the charm and encourages you to slow down a notch and take in the views from your bedroom window.

We stopped for just the one night whist visiting the very nearby Swannery, the stay was wonderful, a beautiful location, lovely garden with first class food and service. The property has a fascinating history and is surrounded by historic buildings, which the friendly host explained throughly.
