Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed two nights on 3/4 Feb. Dinner was delicious. Our room, which was not the cheapest was apparantly above the kitchen. We could hear the extractor fan, the back door being banged, every time a kitchen staff member went outside. Until 11 pm we could hear a rather loud TV and then all through the night we heard loud snoring, so did not get a lot of sleep. The culprits were in the room below. I talked to the very nice housekeeper who immediately offered to move us to no 1 which was quiet. However, the chandelier was small and even with that on and two side lights, one could not read. There was a standard lamp in the room, but that was only good for one side of the bed. Next morning I gave up having a shower, because the water ran cold for at least 7 min. My husband tried again and the water was hot. A note should be displayed telling customers that it would take a while. The plug did not work so difficult for shaving water. Whoever is running a hotel needs to sleep in each room to see the problems. We would not stay again which is a shame because we have a daughter living locally and will need to find accommodation a few times a year.

Well what a great surprise….the food this evening was just spot on, everything was beautifully presented and tasted absolutely delicious, when Kirsty took our plates away they were completely scraped clean!! The tomato sorbet accompanying the prawn cocktail was genius, I love a Bloody Mary as all the staff know at the Ollerod and this was so sublime and very well executed. The pork belly was melt in the mouth. Well done Tyler this is possibly the best meal that we have had in so long. Great staff, lovely welcome and we all left very happy. Merry Christmas to all the staff that work so hard to make our dining experience perfect. Thank you xx

If you hadn’t been to the Bridge House Hotel before you went to the Ollerod you probably would have no real issue with the Ollerod. Sadly compared to the Bridge House the cosy feel and atmosphere of the Bridge House has gone through the changes. No issue with the rooms just the public areas which feel cold and not fitting for a country hotel.

A very comfortable and stylish hotel with a very good restaurant. Attentive and friendly staff. Private parking. Just a few minutes walk to the town centre. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and would certainly stay there again.

Not what it once was! We recall back in the days of the BridgeHouse hotel when things seemed to be special and a valid reason for travelling as far as we did, sadly no more. Kitchen staff and management we assume smoking in the car park, with the chefs language beyond acceptable in a kitchen let alone a public space. We won’t be returning and nor will our our friends, we’re still trying to get our head around the guys response when we raised the issue of toilet making an awful noise throughout the night, oh well, you, live, you learn.

We stayed for 5 nights having the apparently the largest room in the hotel (6). Arriving on a Sundays and pre booked the Sunday Roast lunch we checked in and had the Roast £62 for two for 2 course meal. We asked if we could sit in one of the other unused restaurant rooms in the hotel but was told we had to eat in the covered patio area. We were seated in a corner adjacent to where the staff were in/out and the wind kept gusting through the area and eventually our roasts turned cold very quickly. Apart form breakfasts we never ate again at the hotel. The actual breakfasts were okay but nothing really different from many other places, this said each morning we had to ask for serviettes or cutlery that were never set and we noticed many of the crockery cups were chipped. Our room was very nice, spacious and pretty clean, we found the lighting very poor if you wanted to read anything. Also the room was quiet until the last night of our stay, when late at night someone arrived to stay in the room above ours and you certainly heard footsteps and talking. So we were lucky we were leaving the next morning, otherwise we would have had to complain. You need to be aware that if you also stay in this room that you will hear people using the gardens area during opening times as the rooms are not double glazed. The staff were friendly and helpful. Not sure if the owner was about, if he was he did not make himself known which may also reflect in the fact that I see the owners to not reply to the recent reviews about the hotel. Maybe its because as a ex Michelin chef the attitude maybe its not important to see how customers rate you.

This review is based on eating in the fabulous bar area - although there is also a restaurant plus undercover seating area adjacent to a beautiful garden. The menu offers an interesting range of small plates ranging in price - so you can pretty much find anything to suit.
