Travellers' Choice
Rudge Farm Cottages is peacefully situated on a gentle south-facing slope, overlooking the beautiful Bride Valley and close to Dorset’s World Heritage coastline. The farm is a haven for peace and tranquility within 20 acres of beautiful countryside of mature woodland, meadows and lakes. The old farm buildings have been thoughtfully converted into ten attractive holiday cottages, maintaining many of the original features, ranged around a flower-decked yard and with spectacular views across the Bride Valley towards the Coast. The cottages are all 4 star tourist board rated and are comfortably furnished with a warm and inviting atmosphere providing the perfect place for families or couples. The cottages vary in size from one to three bedrooms with most accommodation on the ground floor. Around the Farm we have plenty of leisure facilities, a picturesque woodland walk and sporting activities, including an all weather tennis court, for the more active. Alternatively you can enjoy relaxing down by the meadows or perhaps take a gentle row around the lake. The games room and games barn provide plenty of indoor activities if the weather is not so good. These include pool, table tennis, skittle alley and table football. The farm is also ideal for younger children with safe play areas including a sandpit, swings and slides, trampoline and activity pirate ship. Close to Rudge Farm there are plenty of fantastic beaches, including Hive Beach which has the highly recommended (by the Sunday Times) Hive Beach Cafe. There are also great beaches a bit further afield at Lyme Regis and Weymouth. The Dorset Coastline is a World Heritage site and provides some of the most dramatic coastline in the UK with Chesil Beach, Durdle Door and Golden Cap.

The cottage we stayed in was not big but has everything you need, cosy and confortable for 2 people. There is a farm shop around the corner with self service which we found very interesting and special for people who live in thge city. If you want a quiet holiday, this is the right place.

We loved the 3 days we managed to find free at Rudge Farm- 3 daughters 11,13,15 enjoyed playing in the games room and chilling out in the cosy cottage lounge. Rooms were clean and comfortable, kitchen well equipped. Great views when we woke in the morning and on my walk up the lane one morning. You need to know the wifi is only accessible near the main building so bring games and DVDs!! The owner was cheerful and helpful with questions we had... we'll be ack in the summer to try the tennis court and boat!

Pigsty Cottage was overlooking the lake - so a wonderful sight to wake up to each morning. It was also clean, tidy and well equipped. We spent time in and around the cottage itself - lovely walks - and the Nature Trail was especially wild and appreciated. The location was also close enough to the coast and to historic centres to enjoy some seaside walking and some interesting visits.

Lovely cottage, well appointed. Lovely location in courtyard of other properties (former stables?). Nice lake/pond and field. Playground for the kids. Games room too. Friendly/helpful owner who assisted very quickly with helping us with the heating at a late hour. Lots of bats around the property at dusk, which was great. Pool frogs in the pond. Slow-worms in the yard edges. For a widlife fanatic, a nice place to visit. Great for our daily trips to Lyme Regis where accom was unavailable due to Covid staycation madness.
