Detailed Reviews
We booked to come to the Hotel in June but that was cancelled due to Covid 19 lockdown so we rebooked for 5 nights in September . We were a little uncertain whether to make the journey due to my wife and I being in our 70’s .
We should not have worried as the Hotel was brilliant, a lovely room with plenty of space (Room 4). Breakfast served in two dining rooms , we had not intended to have Evening Meals but after the first evening we could not think of a better and safer place to eat. Choice of food was excellent and reasonably priced.
We would thoroughly recommend this Hotel. One last thing the staff were very pleasant and cheerful throughout our stay and the cleaning lady exceptionally friendly and making sure we had sufficient refills of refreshments etc.
Victor and Jean.

My wife and myself stayed at Haddon House for 3 nights. The hotel is situated in an ideal position about 5 minutes walk from the sea front, harbour and other attractions, and has ample parking at both the front and rear of the hotel. We stayed in room 6 on the ground floor, and found it very convenient to get to the bar and restaurant through our main door or if we wanted to go to our car we simply made an exit via our French doors straight into the car park. We found the room to be quite large, with a good size TV , and a large bathroom with an individual shower and large jacouzzi style bath. As well as being very comfortable we found it was extremely quiet considering its location by the car park and bar area. All of the staff there are a credit to the hotel, being polite, friendly and helpful, in fact nothing was too much trouble for them and they contributed greatly to the enjoyment of our stay. Finally the food was excellent. The breakfast choice was good and the full English was delicious, varied, tasty and hot. The same can also be said of our evening food, so to fault it would be very hard.
Bearing in mind my above comments I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.

We were so fortunate to find a hotel operating so well under Covid restrictions but Haddon House was so much more. We had four days there and they couldn't have looked after us better. Clean, comfortable and warm in a fantastic location just a short walk from all the attractions of West Bay ... and within very easy reach of lovely Bridport and wonderful Lyme. The owners and staff deserve congratulations at managing to be friendly and helpful in these difficult times. It must have been so heart-breaking for them to know that they'd be closing for another four weeks when we left. Breakfast was absolutely excellent, freshly cooked and plentiful ... service was unobtrusive but always there when we wanted something. They worked wonders to keep fresh choices on the dinner menu right into the second Lockdown - we had delicious fresh fish, lots of seasonal vegetables, good house wine at affordable prices. A hugely enjoyable stay and we have no hesitation in giving five stars. We'd go back at the drop of a hat and we thank them wholeheartedly for 'charging our batteries' ready for Lockdown. When life becomes a bit more 'normal' we'd love to come back, not just to the delights of Dorset but to the hospitality of Haddon House hotel.

Open and waiting for guests. Overnight stay 3 days after the July 4th and the owners have done a great job on complying with the Covid guidelines. Excellent ground floor room number 6 and yes there is at least one room with a whirlpool bath and a tv at the end. Dinner was very good with ample portions and I had the excellent vegetarian breakfast. Plenty of parking. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Booked a 2 night stay for myself and my sister for well deserved pampering weekend away from our busy mum lifestyles. I am SO glad we chose to stay at Haddon House. The hospitality is brilliant, always so friendly, polite, chatty, professional and made us both feel welcomed and at home! Our room was spotless and very clean with kettle, condiments, and gorgeous smelling shampoos, bath soaps ect (honey & mango scented) which felt was a luxury! I honestly have no words to describe just how amazing the food was! I cannot recommend Haddon House enough! The breakfast is sensational! Food tasted so fresh and always cooked to perfection. We chose several starters and meals over our stay. The chicken liver parfait is to die for, calamari was out of this world, triple cooked chips are a MUST, ribeye steak cooked just how I like it (medium/rare) and my sister had the duck with plum sauce which she thoroughly enjoyed. We didn't manage to fit in dessert so had that the next day. I chose the warm brownie with ice cream and my sister chose the raspberry creme brulee, again DIVINE!! If anyone hasn't yet been to Haddon House or is thinking of doing so, don't hesitate, you will NOT regret it! In each room they have spacious jet spa baths which we loved so much and spent a good hour soaking in the bath watching the TV that they have in the bathrooms. I have NOTHING negative to say at all!! Thankyou so much to all the staff at Haddon House, especially Jo who served us over our stay. Jo and the staff were always so hospitable. This won't be our last visit! Hoping to come back again very soon for my amazing food and lots more laughs! Thankyou so much!! 5*

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel; the members of staff in the restaurant were helpful and pleasant and the food in the restaurant was good. Our room was large and spacious and very clean. Spa baths and TVs at the end of the bath in hotels are never used by us so were an unnecessary luxury which add to the somewhat high cost of the room. Unfortunately, however, the manager hasn't yet replied to a letter we sent regarding some concerns we had. We hope this is still to come rather than a response from him/her here.

Where staff are both friendly and efficient, where food is plentiful and cooked with style, and breakfast is everything you could wish for, including Eggs Benedict, smoked salmon and the good old full English, plus a vegetarian version. The rooms are spotless and cosy with a comfy bed and a spa bath, and the location is ideal. One point however if you are visiting at the moment take some bathroom cleaner and be prepared to make your own bed.....Covid apparently....we will return and hopefully next time there will be chambermaids.

Haddon House is a lovely small hotel. I've just had a very enjoyable break here.
The room was large, comfortably furnished and quiet. The spa bath with tv in the bathroom a lovely added luxury. The location of the hotel is quiet - I slept well.
Food is excellent. Breakfast offers a wide choice of staples from cereals and fruit to a full cooked breakfast. The scrambled eggs, salmon and muffin are particularly good. We also had three evening meals at the hotel, all were delicious with very generous portions - pork medallions in calvados sauce and the blackcurrant cheesecake were particular favourites.
The location of the hotel is excellent - only a couple of minutes' walk from West Bay harbour and beach. The lively market town of Bridport is only a few minutes' drive, and the lovely seaside towns of Lyme Regis and Weymouth are around 30 minutes' drive.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. This is a great place to stay when exploring the beautiful Jurassic coast.

Stayed at Haddon House Hotel for three nights in September. Comfortable hotel and very efficient and friendly staff. All covid safety procedures are in place and were followed by guests and staff throughout my stay. Notice of these procedures is on the website and is reinforced in writing on check-in to make sure everyone is aware and compliant.
Room very comfortable and restaurant serves an extensive menu suiting all tastes. Generous helpings satisfy the most healthy of appetites. Thoroughly enjoyed all meals and especially the lamb shank in rich mint gravy and the pork belly in a coarse grain mustard sauce. Very nicely prepared and tastefully served with local vegetables.
Breakfast offered many options and was excellent.
The owners of this hotel are fully involved in its day to day operation and actively encourage the high level of service that they require. They have developed an enthusiastic, friendly and professional team who look after their guests well. I wish them well during these difficult times and thank them for a most enjoyable stay.
I would thoroughly recommend this hotel which has a good location in West Bay and look forward to seeing you again.
