Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at Cliffend for four nights during the recent bank holiday weekend. The ocean view is phenomenal and the garden is terrific. Outstanding breakfast and easy access to the beach, to town, and to Lyme Regis.

We did not really want to write this review because we did not want this idyllic bed and breakfast to ever be fully booked up so that we could not return when we wanted to, but that would be really selfish as Janice and Peter work very hard to make this such a special place. We have certainly travelled a lot and have spend the last four years wandering around the globe, living out of suitcases but this little oasis of Dorset coastline had everything we could want and really touched the heart strings. We arrived to the most wonderful welcome with coffee and cake served to us in their garden with the stunning Jurassic coastline right in front of us. You would pay a small fortune just for this view in any hotel around the world and the same view greeted us in our comfortable room. We planned to hike part of the SW coastal path and were hoping to catch a bus into Seaton and walk back along the coast to Charmouth via Lyme Regis. Alas it was the winter time table and there was not a suitable bus but Peter kindly drove us to the start of the hike - thank you Peter that was most kind. This B&B is spotless and you could not want for anything more as you are lulled to sleep in a comfy bed with the waves lapping nearby and know that a scrumptious breakfast will be waiting for you when you wake up.

This has to be the best b&b we have ever visited. Fantastic views, fantastic location, fantastic room, fantastic breakfasts and fantastic hosts. Breakfast of fresh fruit, cold meats and cheeses and homemade breads. Nothing was too much trouble for Janice & Peter the hosts. Will be visiting my mum, who lives about 5 miles away, more often to stay here. The views to the beach and sea are outstanding.

More than a B&B, this is an experience. The gardens, the views from the room, and the keepers. As friendly as you can be, more than eco friendly, and imaginative. A step from the coastal pathway which leads to the beach. Keeps you out of the hassle of Lyme Regis and yet you are a short drive and possible walk along the beach to the city.

This is a very good B&B. The view is fantastic. The rooms are lovely and clean. The breakfast is top quality, and is not the same everyday. The owners are lovely and helpful, and speak English and German (and maybe more). The garden out the back leads down to the beach, and the photos are exactly what it looks like. Our king bed was made up of two single beds pushed together, but that is not a problem for us. A very good choice of B&B for couples or friends.

This was without doubt THE best Bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in. We arrived in the late afternoon, and were greeted with a smile and a lovely tea tray to relax with in the stunning garden - this set the tone for our stay :) The room was immaculate, with everything you could want, comfy, clean, and very well furnished. The location - stunning, the views from the bedroom and the garden wonderful. The garden opened straight out onto the coastal path. The breakfast - goodness me, how lovely can a meal be - THIS lovely. The bread was homemade, the cold fruit - best ever, the cooked breakfast - wonderful. We loved staying here, so much so I am going to return in the summer and bring my mum with me. Thank you Janice and Peter.

If you're looking for peace and quiet by the sea this really is the place. My wife and I were here for four nights this week. The two guest rooms have expansive sea views, the ambient atmosphere of quiet Charmouth is everywhere around, and it's a couple of minutes down to the beach - via the back garden gate if you wish - where you can join others in the perennial search for fossils, for which this part of the south coast is famous. The house is spotlessly clean and tidy, the breakfasts superb and the hosts, Janice and Peter, most hospitable

My wife and i stayed for three nights in September 2012.The two dormer guest rooms offer a wonderful view from the rear of this very comfortable bungalow, with a large, tidy garden that you can relax in or extend your legs to the clifftop and it's view's to the Jurassic Coast.Staying midweek was so peaceful,we had the room with the adjustable beds,so comfy, everything for us was just perfect.Janice and Peter have been host's for eight years showing much pride in their lovely home with many personal touches offering lots of local interest. The breakfast was just all we needed to enjoy our time at Charmouth and the Lyme Regis area.Perhaps we shall return.
