Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Perfectly situated within minutes of the beach. Small, beautifully decorated B&B. Ample parking. Excellent cooked breakfast. Good shower. Slightly hard mattress but overall a very nice small hotel/B&B. Honesty bar serving mainly wine and beer. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

We chose this B&B based on the previous reviews, the location, parking and the fact that it is free of dogs. We spent a very pleasant week here and if I returned to Charmouth this would be my first choice to stay. Parking here is easy and the spaces are wide enough for even large cars. The rooms are immaculate and are a very comforting space to be in. Breakfast is freshly good and of a high standard. The owners and staff are also very friendly and happy to provide advice about the local area. Location wise, the B&B is a very short stroll to the beach or a couple of minutes walk from the nearest bus stop. These buses take you between Axminster and Weymouth stopping at most towns like Lyme Regis en-route.

An absolutely immaculate house with plenty of private parking, on a very quiet road leading down to Charmouth beach - great for fossil hunters! Decor was tasteful and modern with quality furnishings and carpets. There is a spacious breakfast room, a comfortable guest lounge with honesty bar (very reasonable prices) and loads of local information to look at. Our bedroom was compact but easily comfortable enough for three nights. Breakfasts were good, not a huge choice but very nicely cooked and well presented, plus fruit, cereals and yoghourt etc. There are two pubs in the village for evening meals, both ok, and a chipshop which does pizza too. Jane the owner kindly offered to let us bring takeaway food back to eat in the breakfast room if we wanted to. If we had wanted to drive out to eat, there are many nice pubs and restaurants in nearby Lyme Regis.

Fantastic kerb appeal with ample parking for all guests. Welcomed on arrival, clean, open and airy dining room with an adjacent lounge for guests. The room was well appointed, recently refitted/upgraded/decorated. So quiet. Breakfast included everything we needed, served by friendly and efficient staff, cooked to order. Short walk to the beach one way, and the pub and local store. Ideal for travelling to Lyme, Bridport and other nearby attractions. We’re looking to return in the near future to explore further.

Stayed here some 5 or 6 years ago since when hotel has undergone an upgrade. Beautifully clean and well appointed. Rooms comfortable with modern bathrooms. Ideally located within walking distance of Charmouth beach famous for its fossils and the town. Friendly hosts and great breakfasts, local ingredients, freshly cooked to order.

We have just stayed here for two nights! It’s a lovely bright airy B&B. The room was really nice, beds were comfortable and the shower was very clean and powerful. The breakfast was very tasty with a good variety of cooked items. Parking was easy, there was enough spaces for all the rooms! It’s a fabulous area with Lyme Regis very close by! We will definitely be back!!

A lovely bed and breakfast set in a very convenient spot for Charmouth seafront. Our room (the smaller double) was comfortable with a shower/en suite, tv and coffee/tea maker plus the useful addition of a hairdryer. There are a number of different rooms to be seen on the website. We really enjoyed the breakfast served with a smile in a bright room with 8 tables (you sit at the table with your room number on it so you know where to go). The menu is very good with a wide choice including kippers and you can help yourself to cereal and fruit. You can have a very good meal to set yourself up for the day. There is a lounge area for guests and an honour bar providing wine and beer. This is great for a B & B ad it was nice to be able to relax after an eveinng out. If we returned to the area I woud definitely book again. Almost forgot...big plus is the parking as you have a space if you have a room. This is a must in this busy area and it reduces the stress some of us have with parking issues!!

Hensleigh House, in my opinion, is quite frankly the very best place that you can stay in the Charmouth/Lyme Regis area. The accommodation is wonderful, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast is delicious. Jane and Warren are fabulous and nothing is too much trouble for them. Will keep returning!!!

We stayed for two nights at this delightful B&B on our way back from Cornwall. We had never been to Charmouth before and liked the reviews for Hensleigh House. They are not exaggerating - it's quite a find. Well located - just a few minutes walk from the beach and, in the opposite direction, the high street. Our room was spotlessly clean, as was everything about HH. Jayne and the lady that helped at breakfast couldn't have been more helpful. Our freshly cooked breakfasts were excellent and my kipper delicious. We will definitely go back to Charmouth - knowing nothing about the area we're so glad we chose Charmouth over Lyme Regis, what a disappointment that would have been. Charmouth is totally unspoilt and I can't imagine that it's changed much over the years apart, that is, from the constantly eroding 'coastal path' which no longer exists in the direction of Lyme Regis. Foolishly we decided that we would walk the new coastal path in that direction - well, that was a challenge: finding it as well as walking it! We opted to eat at the Royal Oak one night and were very impressed - best to book beforehand though because tables go fast. I'm a 'hotel' girl at heart and my first choice wouldn't be a B&B but for Hensleigh House I would made an exception and we will be returning.

The B&B has off street parking, comfortable rooms that are tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and a nice breakfast offering. For me it’s the seaside location of this B&B that is truly the best. It takes around just five minutes to walk to Charmouth Beach. Huge thank you to Jayne, Warren and Ali for your wonderful hospitality! Looking forward to staying with you again soon.
