We booked this hotel as it was right where we wanted to be. After we checked in for our four night stay we had to wait for the room to be finished serviced( no big deal only 5 mins ). Once in the room it was clean spacious and comfortable with a huge bed. You could see Portland Bill and the sea from our window and the view was incredible, even when the weather was bad. The hotel was unfortunately very warm as the aircon was not on due to Covid. The blackout curtains worked perfectly and we got a good sleep. There was a good sized wardrobe with a safe and the bathroom was great. Due to Covid the rooms were not serviced unless requested and we left the bin outside to be emptied daily and left a note asking for any items to be replaced. On the last night they had printed off request forms for this very purpose. Breakfast was great and you could eat as much as you wanted and it was freshly cooked to order. The tea and coffee was brought to the table in cups we believe that teapots would have been better to reduce visits to the table by staff. We only had dinner once. The menu was limited if you were a vegetarian but the staff said they could and would make pretty much anything requested and a new menu was being prepared for Friday. Portion size was great and staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. This hotel was positioned between an academy school, nursery and industrial estate. The kids were out every morning doing sports and exercises though not to early to wake us up. It felt strange to have this in close proximity to a large hotel! At the bottom of the hill ( approximately 10 minutes walk) you could catch the number 1 bus which takes you to the centre of Weymouth and for £5 you could use the bus all day between the hotel and the kings statue. The bus ran every fifteen minutes up until 6 ish then every half hour. We only used midweek. There was no local shop or vending machines in the hotel so once the hotel shut down you were unable to get snacks or drinks. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much.

Well we paid £270 for 2 nights with breakfast.
It really was not worth that in value, is so here is a simple run down:

On entrance the door hardly opens from the car park around the back, so drop your luggage & pull hard!

Real bad smell of old smoke inside on entrance, not pleasent & that is with a face mask on.

The Room needs a lick of paint (ceiling stains & in the bathroom from poor ventilation), the room had a sea view, the air conditioning read error 04 so did not work the whole time, some of the units are in need of replacement (Bathroom cabinet) The kingsize bed was 2 singles joined together & not that comfortable.

The tv had no picture on our second day, we reported, they apologised, it never got fixed, so thank god we never mentioned the air con.
This was really poor as they promised that someone would visit, they could of swapped the TV? So gutted when we got back to watch it after that when we out our feet up.

The food in the restaurant was ok. We ate both nights & it was ok for the price. Although they ran out of curry on our second night? It was less than 50% full on a saturday night.

On the positive:

The older lady serving food was very good, friendly & efficient & wore her face mask at all times, the younger girl on the Saturday evening was the opposite, has the mask on below her nose & made the dining experience very aggressive in her manner? She appeared unfriendly. The food was good, seafood tasted fresh & the steak was ok, not worth the £20 each in my opinion, but it was not bad. Chocolate fudge dessert was good!

View from the sea view room & restaurant windows are great, but they are quite dirty & hard to see the view clearly, either that or they have bad condensation inside the panes. It was rainy & windy during our stay, but they looked like it had been a while since cleaned. A real shame that as it’s such a great view to see.

We saw past the industrial estate it appears from outside & the hidden car park around the back, however the trail to the lighthouse & views help to sell this hotel & give you a good experience, without that the hotel would really struggle on our experience against the competition & will really need to up their game to survive on those prices.

thank you for your review, the error code on the air con is because of the covid rules we are not allowed it on due to the circulation of air from room to room. we are not advertised as having air con for this reason. I am very sorry that your tv was not looked at I will look into this for you. the windows do get cleaned however with the weather how it was the cleaning had to be delayed due to the height of the windows it is not safe for the company to go up there however they have been done since you have left now the wind has dropped. we do hope to see you again so you can see the constant improvements we are making

when you approach the ex M.O.D top secret building you would think a cold War was still going. However, when you walk inside the ambience stands out, you are greeted by the chief Cook and bottle washer. A lovely lady who makes your stay very comfortable. She is still there in the morning inthe dining room overseeing a beautiful breakfast.
All staff are very friendly and accommodating from the cleaners to kitchen staff and hospitality.
Rooms are very spacious and enough amenities in the strange times due to covid19.
We would love to return when everything gets back to normal to appreciate the full hospitality of the hotel, where I am sure we will grant a 5 star status.

Stopped here with my fiancée the night before her birthday. I will be honest and say the building isn’t the most eye pleasing I’ve stayed at and doesn’t look like a hotel( I’d say its more like forces quarters)
Once inside we followed instructions on where to check in, going up to the 1st floor bar. Once informed of our allocated room we found it door wide open and key card in the power slot( clearly their way to deal with CoVid19 regs). No towels in the room, I had to ask on 3 occasions before finally getting some. I picked the hotel for the sea view and glad I’d picked that as the other view was a square courtyard/parade ground.
Looking at reviews on here I thought the restaurant would be worth a go and by god I wish I hadn’t. When asked what the soup of the day was, the waitress replied “ I think it’s tomato, shall I check?”. Thankfully the starters were tasty. The mains were a different matter, Scampi and Chips ( scampi bites most likely Value brand from a supermarket) chips that were clearly not hand cut ( not a difficult thing). BBQ chicken melt with enough skinny fries to source 4 dozen happy meals. Neither were exactly tasty or appetising to look at. The worst was to come, strawberry cheesecake to finish that was clearly frozen and defrosted in the microwave prior to being served as it was warm. Breakfast, less said the better.
When we went to check out we were told “ we can’t touch the keys for 48 hours due to CoVid19 regs. If they were that bothered why did that carry our glasses, plates in their bare hands, pass menus from customer to customer without cleaning them.
Thankfully it was only one night and certainly not worth the money charged for either the hotel or the food. Better tasting for in a truckers cafe.

As we pulled onto the site where the hotel is located, our hearts sank. It does as other reviewers say look like a prison with the word 'Hotel' painted in black letters on the roof. The reception area was dark and deserted at 5.00pm, there was a hand written sign telling us to ring a number for service. We did this, a woman came downstairs and announced that she hadn't eaten for 3 days and had just sat down to be force-fed by the chef when we rang up. She made us feel guilty for checking in. She told us that check in was contactless and the key was in the room. We went to the room, the door was locked and so we made our way back to reception to repeat the process. The woman appeared again and told us that the room had "not come up on the system" and so wasn't quite ready. She told us to wait in the bar. When she came back half an hour later she said "The rooms ready, I'm not a housekeeper so I couldn't pull the bedcovers straight and I just wiped down the dust and that".
We were allowed to go the room and walked down corridors strewn with abandoned vacumn cleaners, sheets spilling from plastic bags off a trolley, a table loaded with discarded water bottles, half full glasses and dirty cutlery. The 'piece de resistance' was an armchair at right angles to our room door with a random Tesco's bag full of underwear on it, at some point someone rifled through the bag and left the underwear all over the chair...its origins and hygiene unknown.
We got into the room and I am 90% certain it had not been cleaned it was just that the last inhabitants were neat and tidy. There were no mugs, no bathmat, no extra toilet roll, no milk sachets and no hairdryer. Already realising that the staff felt that they were doing us a favour by allowing us to stay there we went and foraged for everything that was missing from abandoned rooms and corridors and bought our own toilet roll from the Co-op.
The toilet had terrible limescale staining in the bowl and the seat was wonky. The shower head wouldn't stay at an angle that didn't flood the floor.
We didn't eat dinner there so can't comment.
The continental breakfast was billed as a array of pastries, fruit, meat, local and imported cheeses....we got...a small bowl of apple and grapes, a small yoghurt (luckily we liked the flavours as no choice) a slice of synthetic tasting ham and an even more synthetic tasting croissant. The people on the table next to us got toast and cheese, we were told they had run out and no alternative was offered.
There was no social distancing, forlorn looking tables with watered down sanitiser and paper towels on them and the restaurant tables were being sprayed with what looked like Febreeze. If you value hygiene or consider yourself at all vulnerable to COVID-19 please do not stay at this establishment.

The first couple of times we stayed here, it was the Ocean Spa Hotel. Since then it's been the Maritime Hotel and now it's The Admiralty Hotel. Still the same grim Cold War military college concrete exterior, still the same deceptively comfortable interior. Then there is the accomodation. Room 338. The Maiden Castle Suite. Or the Penthouse. All three names are on the same door, so we'll just say the Penthouse. This is an actual suite. Four rooms if you count the entry hall. The bedroom and the bathroom are well appointed, and both have beautiful views of the three lighthouses down at Portland Bill. The sitting room is the same size as the bedroom, with stunning dual aspect views south and east. The only issue with the sitting room is that it is over furnished. In addition to the huge and very comfortable L shape leather couch, there is another leather tub chair which just takes up space. As well as the long glass top coffee table there is a full size glass dining table and three chairs, which is just odd. There are three champaigne flutes and three cups in the corner cabinet, two knives and a dessert spoon in the cutlery tray. We have no idea why the sitting room is furnished for three, but in the end it just came down to moving aside all the surplus stuff to free the space. Regarding the dining experience overall, things went well, One of our three breakfasts was very makeshift, while the other two were exceptionally good. An entirely reasonable cause for this has since been provided. The evening menu is slightly limited (almost everything with chips) and things tend to be over rather than under cooked. We like what the new owners are trying to do with the hotel, and look forward to going back soon.

Stayed here whilst diving for the weekend from the marina. Was stunned by the views from the hotel when I got here.

Check in was easy and staff are very friendly. Parking was plentiful and easy to access

Room was very big and clean and exceptionally quiet which is great after a hard day on boats and having to shout at each other!

Now that I am diving more regularly this way, I will certainly be looking to stay here more often on the weekend dives.

Can’t comment on evening meal as I was out with friends but the breakfast was great.

Fantastic hotel, owners and staff.
Kerry the owner literally saved our holiday.
We had booked to stay at a different location and when we turned up it was filthy, our holiday was ruined and we were panicking about COVID and didn’t know what to do or where we would go.
We called Admiralty to see if they could accommodate 6 of us and nothing was too much trouble.By the afternoon they had managed to find us rooms and a delicious Carvery roast. The rooms are spotlessly clean and spacious. They are following all of the social distancing rules and there’s hand sanitiser everywhere. The staff are very attentive and friendly and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome ( Laura,Matthew, Justine and the housekeeping staff)
Matthew the chef is a kitchen genius. The food is mouth watering, huge portions and great value for money
The owners and the staff are amazingly kind, totally professional and are working hard to make this hotel amazing.
We have really been overwhelmed with kindness and that’s hard to find these days.
Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be coming back in the future to stay , in fact we will be making sure We only book here in future
You can’t put a price on feeling safe.

Rooms not properly equipped for two and tea tray/area filthy. Get the impression cleaners and kitchen don’t care or enjoy working there. Food cold, very very slow in delivery ( 1 hour for a prawn cocktail including soil!!) and only 6 people in the restaurant. Breakfast even worse, not offered choice of eggs, arrived with inedible scrambled egg and chopped tinned tomatoes with a veggie burger😂. Took back to waitress and got no apology or offer to replace. Avoided breakfast following day. Carpets revolting -food worse and watching the chef from the roof terrace doing clean up was best entertainment of all!😝🤪

I recently visited this hotel midweek during the very hot period of August 2020. On arrival the receptionist was lovely and accommodating and showed us to our room. Our room was large and very clean. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was not working making it unbearable to sleep as the windows only opened slightly. Additionally, the breakfast was very basic and the service was terribly slow. The staff are all very friendly and the hotel is located in a lovely quiet/isolated area with plenty of parking. There is a bus that runs into town (number 1) quite frequently and the bus stop is only a 15 minutes away from the hotel. It takes approximately an hour to get into Weymouth.

If you want to social distance away from big crowds then this hotel is ideal due to its location. If you want to be more central you'd need a car or to get busses regularly.

There is a beautiful coastal walk close to the hotel and the lighthouse area is beautiful and worth a visit!

thank you for your feedback, we are glad you found your room to be of a good standard this is something we are very passionate about. unfortunately the air conditioning units are not in service and for this reason we do not advertise as being air conditioned. this was a very hot period and we appreciate the fact that it did get uncomfortable. the breakfast service was slow due to the fact we could not do our usual buffet style breakfast however we have now been allowed to start this again so this problem does not happen in the future. we really do hope to see you again so you can see the improvements that we are making

Hello Jennifer, thank you for your question. Unfortunately our main lift is still out of order - after multiple visits of few engineers and replacing a lot of parts - it's still failing to work properly. We're constantly working on it and hopefully we will be able to fix it in the next couple of weeks. We do have fully working and safe staff lift in the hotel which is twice as big as the main lift. It's is available for guests use at all times; we're also more than happy to assist you to the room / lift and carry your luggage.
