Detailed Reviews
We were a party of 6 so used 3 of the available bedrooms, each had their own unique charm. One at the back of the house even had a small garden room. We had one of the front rooms, large, with generous en-suite and probably one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. Although being on a fairly main road there was very little traffic after about 2100 even though it was a Saturday night. The house has been refurbished to a very high level. We had use of the drawing room, complete with piano and large tasteful Christmas tree. Breakfast was in the dining room, again with a huge Christmas tree, around a huge table, almost sagging under the weight of all the options, fruit, juices etc etc . An excellent cooked breakfast was served. There were 2 vegans in our party and their breakfast too was faultless. The setting felt very "Downton Abbey"
I thought parking might have been an issue, but Sue has a permit to allow parking in the church car pack, which is about 2 minutes walk away, and closer than the public car park.
Would I stay again - without hesitation.

Amazing house built in 1720,we stayed in the White suite which was a beautiful room. Breakfast was delicious freshly cooked & the table in the dining room was set up beautifully. Would highly recommend staying at Queen Anne's House, definitely be back for another stay, the owner was so welcoming.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do a review. It’s hard in these Covid times but I’m glad you enjoyed it. Margaret

This property was built around 1700 I believe and the furniture and decor are in keeping with that even to the operatic music played at breakfast time. The breakfast was good but as everyone sits around one large dining room table social distancing is not achieved which is currently a concern. The garden is lovely but parking is a bit tricky.

We booked the room 8 weeks in advance and paid a premium for a luxury room as it was our 29th wedding anniversary, which we informed the owner of. What we got was a room overlooking a main road, that was furnished with a small double bed, a thread bare carpet (you could see the floor boards in places), a stained bath with no heating in the bathroom. Curtains that let in light, all this and then being woken up at 6.30am by a constant flow of heavy lorries travelling up and down the main road outside our window. This is not what I would call luxury. All in all this b&b did it’s best to spoil our anniversary.
The only positive is that the breakfast although standard B&B fare was presented very well using good quality produce.

This is the place to stay if staying in Portland. We stayed in the White Room for the first night, which was beautiful and had a lovely view of the garden. We were then kindly moved, as I am pregnant and wanted a bath which we previously requested but was not available for the first night, to the Lotus room and this really is a stunning room! The interior made me feel like a princess! The bath is wonderful and although looks out on to the main road, you cannot hear anything. There is also a lovey selection of teas and hot chocolate with after eights in the room and the English breakfast is scrumptious!! We got to pick what we wanted included the night before, there is also a vegetarian option and there were a wide selection of cereals available too. The whole place is so beautiful! And we got free parking :) Margaret, who owns and runs the BnB is so friendly and welcoming and could not have done enough for us. She has great local knowledge and communication prior to our arrival was easy and clear and answered all our questions. Honestly a fantastic host and place to stay!

We only stayed for 4 nights but Margaret has been an absolute gem. A perfect hostess in every way and her cooked breakfast was to die for. The Queen Anne is a quaint little guest house with a beautiful garden and perfectly kept both inside and outside. Our garden room was small but the bathroom, little conservatory and access to the garden made up for it. Very comfortable bed, TV and WiFi and all amenities you would expect. Covid restrictions dealt with appropriately and without making a fuss. Well done Margaret. A credit to you

+1
Really disappointed as I booked what was described as a luxury double room with seating area for three nights for my mums birthday. The room was approximately 6ftx9ft with a dirty stained mattress on a rotting bed base that was held up by blocks of wood. The seating area was a chair that looked like it was ready to fall apart. The wardrobe and drawers were dusty with old Christmas wrapping paper in them and there was a dirty rug with all sorts of different stains. The whole place felt dusty and like it needed a good clean. It’s on a main Road and the traffic noise was horrendous. Parking was at the back in a Church car park which had rubbish dumped, potholes, overgrown with weeds and looked like no one owned it. We stayed one night, had breakfast which was ok but the tablecloth was covered in stains and things just didn’t look clean. We had to sit at a table with two other guests, share serving spoons with all the other guests for fruit and cereal etc but there was a sign telling us not to touch the leaflets 🤣. We cancelled two of our nights and left. It’s a real shame as it’s a beautiful building with lovely gardens but it definitely needs updating, cleaning and the White Room should be a single.

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Queen Anne House B&B. This house dates back to 1720. We had the Garden Room on the ground floor at the back of the house. We were happy having a quiet room away from any road noise possibly at the front of the house. The Garden room is a small double and very compact with such a lovely comfy bed. Margaret was so friendly and cooked the most amazing breakfast...it has to be the best we have ever had. Breakfast was served in a large breakfast room with other guests although on the two mornings we had breakfast we were the only two eating as other guests had eaten and departed for the day. You order breakfast the night before and the choice is amazing and there’s really something for everyone one.... fresh fruit, wide selection of cereals, fruit juices, tea, coffee, full English breakfast. Could not fault service. Thanks so much, a lovely stay.
We visited Portland Bill, saw the 2012 London Olympic Rings.
The only negative is the very distinct lack of places to eat at on Portland in close proximity to the B&B

Margaret gave us the heads up a few weeks before to book a restaurant for dinner which was very helpful and over and above and she also gave us a lovely welcome on arrival. Quirky and elegant accommodation with simply stunning gardens to relax in after a busy day out. We had the Garden Room so had a private conservatory and door into the gardens. The room was very small but comfortable none the less with a well equipped equally quirky bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and served at a stylish table with the other guests although this felt a bit weird after socially distancing for so long. Perfectly situated for us to walk up or down to the tourist attractions. Nothing too much trouble. Thanks for a lovely stay.

We stayed for 2 nights in October. We received a warm welcome from Margaret, our host, who was happy to give some good local recommendations for restaurants. The house is beautiful and the decor reflects the age of the property in style whilst providing all mod cons. We slept in the Oyster room which had bags of space and room for seating.
The property is perfectly placed for accessing all locations in Portland and very close to the highest point on the Island with amazing views that include Weymouth and the sea.
Breakfast was brilliant and catered for our vegetarian/gluten-free diet whilst also being very filling.
We will definitely be returning as the accommodation is a treasure and excellent value for money. If you go, make sure you check out the garden, it’s stunning too.

I am so sorry, we don’t allow pets in Queen Anne House but we do in our self catering houses.
Best regards,
Margaret.
We have two spaces on our drive and two spaces in the church car par two houses down the road.
Best regards,
Margaret Dunlop.
