Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had an absolutely wonderful few days staying here. We were in Portland for a stressful Watersports instructor course and the Bunker was the perfect place to return to after the long days. It was cozy, warm, and clean with a lovely communal living/dining room. This facility was great for finishing off work, chatting with the other customers, watching telly, and even playing board games - their collection is extensive! The hosts, Sally and Tony, are the most wonderful people - very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and are always happy to help. They have made a beautiful home environment and it's so lovely that they are willing to share it with others. We must not forget the delicious breakfast that Tony so kindly cooked us every morning which prepared us well for the day ahead. In short, we would highly recommend this place to anyone, on a budget or not, looking to visit Portland!!!

Three nights at The Bunker, wonderfully peaceful and simple accommodation. Everything was very clean and organised, a great kitchen/dining area with everything you would need and more. Hosts are very kind and friendly and I was made to feel very welcome. This is a fantastic, value for money place to stay if in the local area and I would highly recommend and would definitely use again if I was in the area.

The Bunker is fast becoming our dive club’s default accommodation when diving out of Portland. Tony and Sally are superb hosts and are always happy to help out, as well as cook up the most amazing (and huge) breakfasts to set us up for the day. The rooms are clean, small and basic, with comfy beds and hot showers, exactly what we want after a long day’s diving. There is a small car park at the side of the Bunker and a larger, free car park right across the road. The kitchen is located at the end of the lounge area and guests can cook their own meals, or Tony and Sally can cater for you. The Little Ship Inn is just across the road for a drink at the end of the day. Another great stay and we will be back next month.

A really great place. The hosts are on site and very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Shower in room was hot and lots of water. Rooms are simple and basic (as advertised) and what you'd expect for the price. We were here for a sailing event so it was close by. Look forward to staying again in the future.

My second stay was more enjoyable than the first, as this time it was Summer. Also, the fear of Covid had subsided. One of my gripes then was the key safe, but this has been changed, so getting in and out was much easier. Tony and Sally are really friendly people, and took an interest in what I was visiting Portland for. If you throw in breakfast, and the packed lunch I took with me when I left, this is value for money which is becoming a thing of the past.

We spent the weekend diving out of Portland marina and used the bunker as our accommodation base. From booking to arriving, Tony kept us well informed and everything was as it should be when we arrived. The accommodation is basic, but is exactly what we wanted, a comfy bed, shower and clean toilets. There is free on-site parking and a friendly pub just across the road Tony sorted us out with a good quality breakfast on the first morning and then due to a very early start on the Sunday, prepared us all take away bacon and sausage sandwiches. A great location for the marina and surrounding areas makes The Bunker ideal for a range of local activities.

After a failed attempt at camping, due to the Portland wind Tony and Sally kindly puy us up at last minute. Thank you to Tony and Sally for our lovely stay and for being so welcoming. We'll definitely be back. Perfect place to watch the sunset
