Where can I really begin, the hotel was just amazing! There were so many different aspects that made my stay a real pleasure.

Firstly I would like to begin with the staff, they were so nice, welcoming and helped with every issue we may have had. In the morning they had a bright smile on their faces to welcome us to breakfast, and loved to share their local knowledge of the area and some nice spots to go for a walk or where to eat out.

Next, Breakfast was absolutely lovely, there were varied options for food and everything was very much COVID safe, with a one way system, social distancing and masks compulsory. The view is absolutely to die for, you feel as though you are at the top of the world, and looking down onto Weymouth is the best companion for some great food.

I also want to say that the location of the hotel is absolutely exceptional. The view is so much better than any pictures could depict, it is in a prime location for a walk around the island of Portland or indeed to Weymouth. There are lots of shops around from lidl down the mountain to a Tesco on the island.

Moving onto the rooms, we had a family room while included a room with a queen sized bed and one with two singles. The first thing that struck me was the cleanliness of the room, it was absolutely pristine. To begin with everything that we would touch and use was placed in bags ensuring that no one else had touched them. The beds the bathrooms were all completely clean. Speaking about the beds they were soo comfortable, honestly one of the best night sleeps I’ve had in a while, the pillows, the duvet all contributed to the overall comfort of the room. Overall the whole room had a very comfortable feeling to it, it was really homely and a nice place to come to at the end of a long day exploring. Overall it had all the amenities anyone could wish for, a Tv in the room, a kettle, a fan and bags of tea coffee sugar and biscuits.

I can’t even being to describe how much this hotel surprised me, I had high expectations and the hotel went above and beyond giving me and my family a marvellous time. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, looking for a nice holiday spot. I can’t wait until we come back!

We wanted to have a short trip this summer after our holiday plans had all been cancelled but didn’t want to be anywhere too busy. After thinking of Weymouth, we moved into Portland and found this hotel. By ringing up rather than going through an app, I was able to get two adjoining rooms for my family at a reduced price. It was still quite costly for a two night break, but we felt the location and the reduced risk was worth it. On arrival we had sandwiches and coffee at the side of the hotel, which were at best average, but were able to sit outside and appreciate the amazing views. We had our temperatures checked and had to keep masks on in all public spaces of the hotel. Hot drinks were available 24/7 from reception for free. Our rooms were fine. Nothing special, but we all slept well and were comfortable. The breakfast which is included was also good. Being able to select what you want, whilst following a one way system and booking in your time before hand. We had dinner at the hotel too and this was pretty good too.
Within a few minutes drive, and if it wasn’t so blisteringly hot a slightly longer walk down is Chisel beach. The beach was practically empty the entire time meaning that we felt totally safe. It’s a pebbly beach, so my saltwater sandals came into their own being able to walk into the sea and swim pain free! Lovely calm waters if not cold!!!, gave us relief from the intense heat. Going to Portland rather than Weymouth was totally the right decision. Lovely little cafe on the beach called quiddles but unfortunately it was fully booked out so we couldn’t try it. We drove over also to church Ope beach which was also
Beautifully and although had a few visitors was mostly empty. Steep walk down and up though. Would definitely recommend for a trip this summer.

This hotel confirms the quote “don’t judge a book by its cover” it is a bit ‘60’s on the outside but wow once inside one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff are amazing, friendly and will accommodate any request with a smile. I would not hesitate to stay here and in fact have already booked my next visit. The location is superb a bus runs right outside every ten minutes to Portland bill or down into Weymouth. Lots of walks on well maintained footpaths are easily accessed.

Stayed for four nights (room 211) this last week. We had been looking forward to our stay at The Heights hotel, mainly because of the great position and views over Chesil beach and the Weymouth area. Good Covid practices were in place at the hotel. Whilst we fully enjoyed the views and the walks around Portland, we sadly came away feeling disappointed with our stay due to:-

1. Room 211 is facing the main road, which is very busy from early morning until late at night. The area appears to suffer from a significant number of boy racers all of whom seem intent on accelerating hard from the roundabout at the front of the hotel. This caused us to suffer significant problems getting to sleep each night, and being woken early in the morning.

2. Room 211 whilst being a good size and quite comfortable, was very dark (only one window), with large areas of dark colours and dark wood, both of which gave a depressing feel to the room. The hotel corridor outside the room was also extremely dark and sombre.

3. We had breakfast each day and ate in the restaurant twice for evening meals. The food was nice but the evening meals were expensive for the what is served. We presume the hotel feel they can charge a higher than reasonable price purely because of the location. Had the food been more sensibly priced, we would have eaten there each night of stay, but given the high prices decided to try the many options available in Weymouth (only 10-15 minutes away).

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate your feedback. We strive to exceed our guests' expectations, with your stay being no exception. We too were disappointed with the noise of cars on the occasion that you mentioned. This was due to a one-off event which had been organised as a local 'meet', much to the annoyance of local residents. Nonetheless, we hope this didn't change your enjoyment of the room. We have taken on-board your comments regarding your dining experience. However, we are in-line with nearby establishments offering similar experiences, and so our prices are set to take this into account. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Be sure to get in touch for the best rates direct.

We booked for five days and felt very safe during our stay. It is also worth booking your evening meal as there are not many places to eat around here and the hotel provides really good standards of hygiene and excellent food. all staff wore face masks, well ventilated hotel, with automatic hand sanitizers around the hotel. It's a lovely walking area, many nice walks within the hotel location.

Lot's of free parking at the hotel and surrounding areas of portland - very handy.
We would go again but book directly through the hotel as we understand you get a better rate/room.

I was apprehensive about travelling and staying in a hotel but did so in order to spend time with my sister who was staying in a caravan park in Weymouth. From entering the hotel, I felt as safe as possible and that the staff did all that they could to ensure procedures were followed. Temperatures were taken before entry; hand sanitisers were placed throughout the hotel; breakfast was booked in advance so numbers were limited and this was managed extremely well. The room was spotless, particularly the bathroom which was newly refurbished and very clean.

We booked a long weekend here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel is in a commanding position overlooking Chesil Beach. We were impressed with the Covid protocols the hotel had implemented and felt very safe. Temperature taken on arrival and at other times if necessary. The rooms do not overlook the sea but are spacious and comfortable. They do not service the rooms for a short stay which is fine in the present situation. The dining room has the most stupendous view over the sea and harbour which is truly breathtaking. Once again tables are spaced out, sanitiser is there to use and a one way system in place especially at breakfast. The staff were top quality and worked really hard to ensure we felt safe. A very welcoming hotel. We will consider staying in the future as it's such a good position to explore the fascinating area.

Warmly greeted on arrival and pleased that our temperatures were monitored prior to checking in. Had a bit of a struggle with carrying case to first floor room. Room was clean and spacious. Pleased that we were able to open bedroom window for ventilation. Plenty of hand sanitiser provided around the hotel and all guests wore masks in the public areas. Breakfast time had to be booked in advance. Breakfast was plentiful with good selection. Evening meal was very nicely presented by a delightful young waitress (Alicia) who was very efficient and had a great sense of humour. All in all a lovely break and will definitely be visiting again.

I travelled with my wife and 7 year old daughter and we absolutely loved our stay. Everything was very nicely organized & laid out (including Covid-19 procedures) and we felt very safe through out our stay. Staff was very friendly making us feel home. Location was simply stunning with view over to main land and beach line, we enjoyed our walks in beach and also other parts of the Portland island (like Portland Bill light-house); found to be very relaxing even in mid winter. We enjoyed our breakfasts looking over shoreline hence was way longer than we normally do. Location also gave us the advantage to access all the amenities in Weymouth and places like parks (during our stay we visited Weymouth See Life Aquarium which was just 20 minute drive) which my daughter absolutely loved. All in all, it was a great holiday and we will definitely visit Heights Hotel again..!!

We stayed for a long weekend, as part of a private party. We had upgraded to the delux room and were not disappointed. The bed was so comfortable, the room and bathroom both really well appointed, with numerous toiletries and extras. The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I have dietary needs, but these were well taken care off, the standard of food was outstanding, plenty of choice, and nicely cooked fresh veg. A few weeks ago we stayed at a Warners Hotel, but for us this was far superior, by way of the quality and standard of the food on offer. although, obviously not the day time activities. There is a local bus which stops every 10mins out side the hotel going into Weymouth, and the bus station. Would not hesitate to recomend, or to return again.
