Birchwood Tourist Park is a touring caravan and camping site located three miles drive from the town of Wareham, and is centrally located for visiting Bournemouth, Poole, The Isle of Purbeck, Dorchester, Weymouth and the Jurassic coastline. We are an open, rural Park surrounded by Wareham Forest, our boundary adjoining the forest so with direct access for walking and cycling. Dogs are welcome on a short lead. We are open most of the year, including over Christmas and New Year when our block-paved hard-standing serviced pitches are open. There is a well-stocked shop in the Reception, two toilet blocks with free showers and we offer a range of pitches; including block-paved hard-standings with gravel area for awning, grass pitches or gravel pitches, fully serviced (16 amp electric hook up, water & drain connection points and TV socket point), or electric hook ups (10 amp) connection and plenty of space for tents. We have a barrier system for entry and exit onto the Park, operated by a number- plate recognition system linked to your booking and which deactivates overnight to prevent cars driving onsite after 10.00 pm and before 7 am. The Park is set in 27 acres and has a large separate games field for ball games, tennis area, kite flying or group activities. We also have a 2 foot (0.6m) deep unheated paddling pool for the children, a sandpit, swings and play area near the central toilet block.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I, and our Cockapoo, enjoyed two nights at Birchwood Tourist Park during our 11 night tour of the Dorset coast and Wales. The site is very well maintained and the facilities provided are brilliant. Would definitely stay again if in the area

A large site within a beautiful forest setting - providing immaculately maintained facilities & especially friendly and helpful staff. We often enjoy lengthy, off-peak stays. Inevitably things may be slightly less peaceful during peak periods. A fine base which enables us to explore and enjoy Dorset’s fabulous Jurassic Coast

Beautiful site however when our son was seriously injured by the play park equipment, (bolt flew out when my 8 year old son was holding onto the rope on the obstacle course). There was no apology but the blame was put onto the teenagers who had vandalised the equipment an hour previously (seen on CTV) the bolt hit him just above his eye, half an inch lower he would have lost his eye. All we wanted was an apology but its definitely not forth coming. What started as a lovely week away was ruined by the incident half way throw the week. We felt brushed aside by management we understand the equipment was damaged throw no fault of their own but it also wasn't my sons fault but he now has a permanent scar above his eye.

Just got back from an Easter break and had a wonderful time. The site is brilliant, with a great playground area, sandpit and a games field which the boys loved playing football on. The onsite shop is well stocked and with helpful items also. Shower and toilet blocks always clean and warm. Whole site was very well maintained and organised. Staff very helpful, friendly and welcoming, would highly recommend this site for good family fun and lovely walks in the forest.

We have just got back from a lovely stay at this park. Checking in was so easy and all staff were so very helpful. The site was spotless and toilets and showers kept immaculately. Beautiful location with lovely walks through Wareham Forest, perfect for walking with or without a furbaby or cycling. However, it was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff that prompted thiw review. They were so good to us as new caravanners, with Simon even popping down to our van at 10 in the evening to check our gas for us after a warning light came on. The Wardens were so friendly. Will definitely love to visit again in the future. Wonderful stay and we were even blessed with beautiful sunshine throughout our duration.

We stayed at Birchwood for 5 nights in June this year and cannot recommend too highly. The Pitches were spacious and well laid out and the Pitch we had looked out onto the Playing Field Area. Amazing walks from the site both for Humans and dogs, and lovely well equipped playarea for children Good shop on Site selling all essentials and the friendly Staff are always on hand to help with enquiries. Bus service to Wareham, Swanage etc and comes right onto the sitewhich is great if you don't want to drive or move a Motorhome. We are now planning our next visit to Birchwood with our Motorhome and know that it will be a good one

This is our 5th visit to this site. It always feels friendly, spacious and safe for children. The on site shop has enough, the children’s play park, sandpit and paddling pool are great. Always keeps out 6yr old entertained. The overall site, the shower and toilets are always clean. The owners and staff here are friendly and seem to care! There are plenty of bike and walking routes accessible from the campsite. The site is dog friendly and has plenty of walking options and a dog shower on site. We love this site 10/10 Will be back again soon!

Lovely place to camp. Lots of plot space for the caravan and awning, grass pitch was levelish and no horrid stones to walk on. The site was extremely busy being a bank holiday weekend but no one was on top of each other and the site was quiet by 10pm. Walks in the woods we’re excellent especially for the dog. Site has a small shop but was over priced locally made bread was £1.75 for less than half a loaf. Two take away vans on site Thursday to Sunday during busy times they arrive about tea time and leave about 8.30-9pm but the curry van states you should pre order to guarantee your selection being available also limited menu As we did not eat from either of the vans we can make no comment as to quality or quantity. The staff are nice and you are actually shown to your pitch on arrival . Our toilet block was clean and regularly maintained including fogging, the only problem was that it is fixed showers so short people get soaking wet hair even if you don’t want to wash your hair. Disabled toilet area is available but I can not comment on this as I did not need access to it on this visit as the shower in the toilet block was accessible and of a reasonable size. Barrier gates locked at 10pm and they do remain locked until the following morning you park in the car park and walk down to your pitch. They do have an emergency medical procedure that the staff can operate if required as the wardens live on site and someone is always on duty it should cause no problem should the need arise. Laundrette looked clean and is operated by tokens which are available. From reception - we did not use it on this occasion. Would recommend staying here, we will be returning here on our next stay in Dorset

The site is ideally located, right on the edge of Wareham Forest and very close to Wareham, Corfe Castle and Swanage. We were met by really friendly staff who were extremely helpful. The toilet and shower block was really clean and it was so nice to be on a site where you don't have to pay extra for a shower. Superb stay, we will most definitely be back. Thank you.
