We have just had 2 nights in this B&B. We were warmly welcomed by our host Steph who after showing us to our room, then went and made us a pot of fresh coffee (and brought us biscuits too 👍). Steph was very knowledgeable about the local area as well as recommendations for places to eat.

Steph gave us a form to fill in about what we would like for breakfast the next morning (you definitely wouldn’t go hungry).

The room itself was large and had twin beds (you could also have this as a double), with two wardrobes, two bedside cabinets both with lamps, a chest of drawers which also housed the kettle, cups, tea/coffee etc, a dressing table that also had a lamp and hair dryer as well as a sofa with a standard lamp. The room was tastefully furnished and the beds were very comfortable. There is also free WiFi in the room.

Our room didn’t have an en-suite but the bathroom was directly opposite and was only for our use. We were given bath robes and slippers for our use. The bathroom had a shower and not a bath but the shower was lovely. It had different settings so you could have it as strong/ soft as you like and no waiting for the water to get hot as it was literally instant!

Breakfast consisted of cereals, yogurts, fruit, toast & jam and fruit juice, then whatever you had chosen from the list (told you you’d never go hungry!) Fresh coffee and tea! You could sit in the dining room or have your breakfast on the patio

This B&B is ideally located. Your a hop, skip and a jump from Corfe Castle, Durdle Door and Swanage to name but a few. The train station is a stones throw away

Seriously, you couldn’t wish to meet a nicer couple in the hosts Steph & Richard, nothing is too much trouble for them and they genuinely want you to enjoy yourselves and take a positive interest in how your day was or your plans for the stay. I’d definitely go back!

We loved our stay at Spurwing. It’s in an ideal location to explore the Isle of Purbeck, and Dorset more widely, and is literally on the doorstep of historic Wareham and Corfe Castle. The bedrooms were of a very high standard- really comfortable, and spotless, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The beautiful garden was a bonus for relaxing in. Steph and Richard were fantastic hosts and could not have been kinder.

Having had to cancel our booking in the last year we finally made it and we are so glad we arrived safe and sound on Friday after the worst of Storm Eunice.
What a warm welcome from Steph, Richard and young Nathan, a lovely family.
Their home is beautiful, and I say home because that’s exactly how we felt, not a cold characterless Guest House which is our usual experience.
Everything is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated with great attention to detail from the cotton pads in the bathroom to the individual breakfast trays in the dining room. Great care and thought has been put into making everything as COVID safe as possible.
The bedroom had the comfiest bed with sumptuous duvet and bed linen. T.V worked great, tea and coffee supplies are generous with yummy biscuits, good kettle and a supply of bottled water these were replenished daily. Heating was easily controlled with a thermostatic controlled radiator.
Bathroom was super clean, Towels are pure brilliant white, soft and generous in size. Water piping hot all hours of the day and one of the best showers I’ve ever had (would love this shower at home).
Breakfast cooked by Richard was delicious! Thank you Richard they set us up for the day. Coffee served in individual cafetières (mine being decaf) was super. Lovely thick warm toast and choice of individual pots of jams, marmalade or honey, great selection of individual cereal packs too.
Fantastic garden which I can see in the better weather would be wonderful to sit out in with several areas to choose from and a wonderful pond with Koi Carp. We took a walk around the garden and Richard came out and told us all about the hard work they have put in to make improvements which were clearly evident they should be justifiably proud of what they have achieved and their plans for the future.
Steph and Richard are aware of keeping things ecological, with a great little bin in the bedroom to separate rubbish and recycling for easy disposal. Little reminders about turning heating and lighting off when not in the room can be found in their very informative guest book.
Guest book included lots of suggestions of places to visit and good eateries.
Our favourite being the 29029! If you’re in the area this is a must!

We would highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere in this area that you couldn’t do better that to stay with this lovely family.

Had another brilliant week stay here with my partner and elderly in-laws. Steph and Richard went over and above when we last stayed there last year and didn't disappoint this year either ! Able to accommodate my vegan diet really well, even introducing me to some vegan food I hadn't known about. The food is beautifully cooked and well presented and plenty of it ! Fruit, fruit juice cereals, yoghurts, toast, jam and cooked breakfast. My partner and in laws (non vegan) were as equally happy with their English breakfasts. Fresh coffee and tea. Steph was very knowledgeable about local restaurants / places to visit. The Spoonbill bedroom was very spacious, dressing gown & slippers available in the room, loads of hangers and 2 single wardrobes and plenty of drawer units for storage. The king size bed was as comfortable as last year and the shower / wc very clean and although just across the corridor didn't present an issue for us this year or last. Free WiFi and TV in the room as well as fresh water, biscuits, tea / coffee facilities. Richard not wanting me to miss out on biscuits delivered vegan friendly ones to our room by the morning of day 2 ! A flask of fresh milk was available and replenished daily. The location is great, right near main routes but lovely and quiet. The train station is within easy walking distance. Such a great place to stay. Steph and Richard always made time to chat and see what adventure we'd been on. My in-laws love it there too. They felt safe and relaxed, as did we. We will definitely return there !

We stayed at Spurwing for 3 nights. We received a lovely warm welcome on arrival, Steph and Richard are excellent hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with them each morning.

Spurwing is in a great location, a quiet road near to the centre of Wareham and just off the main routes for visiting different parts of Dorset. The off road parking was handy with plenty of room for all guests. Great care and attention has been taken with the decor of the chalet bungalow, it was so nice to feel as though you are actually staying in a family home rather than a B&B.

We stayed in Spoonbill a very spacious, tastefully decorated room with a very comfortable super king size bed, lovely crisp bed linen, ample wardrobe and drawer space and plenty of hangers (a rarity !!). It was nice to have the sofa for extra seating. The large silent alarm clock was useful. Plentiful supply of tea, coffee, fresh bottled water and delicious biscuits each day. Our private shower room was literally a couple of steps from the bedroom, excellent shower and lovely toiletries.

We thoroughly enjoyed Richard's delicious cooked breakfasts each morning and thought the breakfast trays provided on each guests' table were a great idea. We enjoyed looking out onto the large beautiful garden maintained so well by Richard and Steph and wish that we had made time to sit out there when we had returned from our days out. Another time hopefully !! Steph and Richard are such lovely hosts, so approachable and want to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. If you are thinking of visiting Dorset do consider staying at the Spurwing - you won't be disappointed.

We last stayed at this guest house in March 2017 for a trip to Monkey World. Myself and my partner wanted to go back to Monkey World this February, and decided to stay at this guest house again as we knew it was lovely the first time round. The guest house has been taken over by Stephanie and Richard. The rooms available have been freshly decorated and renamed. We had the Dartford Warbler room, which was lovely. The colour scheme in this room was beautiful - and made me feel right at home since it was all my favourite colours. The room was spotlessly clean, cosy, calming, modern and welcoming, with a lovely view of the beautiful garden. The bed was amazing and so comfortable.
Breakfast was amazing and tasty - cooked to your preference and well presented. My partner and I were especially pleased about the wide range of breakfast available - yoghurts, cereal, fresh fruit and cooked breakfasts.
Stephanie and Richard were very friendly and welcoming.
I would not hesitate to recommend this guest house to anyone, and myself and my partner are already talking about going back so that we can explore the surrounding areas more.
Thank you for a lovely start to our week off!!

My stay at Spurwing was just for 2 nights. On arrival l was made to feel very welcome by Steph. My room was very clean and very well appointed nothing l needed. Both mornings my breacfast was excellent and when asked if l wanted tea or coffee as l only drink fruit or herbal tea Steph made some camomile and honey and even gave me some for room. I would recommend Spurwing without hesitation.

Despite this being our 5th time staying at Spurwing Guest House, Steph & Richard, our friendly hosts did not disappoint. Without a doubt exceeded our expectations and making our wedding anniversary extra special. My request for a picnic to surprise my husband with was amazing. We were both stunned with the effort they went to that day. Thank you so much Richard and Steph. We stayed in the Spoonbill, spacious room at the front of the property, with separate, private shower room, huge comfy double bed & a sofa that can convert to provide additional bed. My in laws stayed in the Dartford Warbler overlooking the rear garden with comfy double bed &shower en-suite. The rooms are light and have ample wardrobe / drawer space. Soft white towels and bathrobes provided within the room on arrival. Tea / coffee making facilities & biscuits, including vegan ones ! Fresh milk / Oat milk in a flask available on request. My vegan diet is never a problem here. The breakfast is beautifully presented and tastes as good as it looks. My husband and in laws are not vegan and confirm their food is really tasty and more than enough. Fresh fruit, juice, selection of cereals, yoghurts and jams / marmalade provided in addition to the cooked breakfast. They give a choice of cooked breakfast. Richard did avocado and mushrooms on toast and or vegan sausage with beans / fresh tomatoes. The facilities are clean and the beds / pillows so comfortable. We all slept well. This delightful B&B has ample parking & is located within a short walk of Wareham Rail station and bus stop. My in laws 80 / 85 yrs with some mobility issues managed it easily to catch the heritage train to Swanage and bus service to Weymouth. This was their 3rd time staying at Spurwing. Wareham is within walking distance for my husband & I but not appropriate due to the distance and slight incline for my mother in law with mobility / breathing difficulties. It is a short drive where there are ample pubs / restaurants and parking. Worth checking out their Facebook blog too as they sample and provide information about the local area / tourist attractions. We did one of the Purbeck Safari tours after reading their blog and it was a fantastic experience for all of us. Fantastic 10 days. Thank you so much Steph & Richard !!!!

We had a wonderful stay. Our hosts were gracious, helpful, friendly and so willing to go the extra mile! Breakfast was delicious! The breakfast room looks out onto their beautiful garden! Our room was spacious and clean with a fabulous bed. Their TV in the room provides you with the option to sign into your own Netflix or Amazon Prime accounts. We will certainly book at Spurwing again, when in that part of the country. Thank you, Stephanie and Richard!

Following our first visit to the Spurwing B and B Guest House last summer, we returned for a short break. Since the summer, the rooms have been carefully and stylishly refurbished making the room a wonderful place in which to relax. Each morning the breakfast was fantastic setting us up for variety of day trips into the Dorset countryside for coastal walks, museum trips and a longer journey by train, using the highly convenient mainline train station at the end of the road. Richard and Stephanie made us really welcome and gave us several recommendations of places to visit nearby. A super short break.
