Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The second time we have come over to Colstoncraig in Crail. Alan and Audrey treat you like family and the accommodation is very homely. The location is perfect just a 5 minute walk from the most iconic harbour in Scotland. The breakfast certainly sets you up for the day and the sea view from the dining room is spectacular. My daughter, Charlotte and I could not recommend this B&B high enough and we can’t wait till our next visit.

Stayed for 2 nights with family. The rooms were spotlessly clean, lovely bed linen and towels. Really enjoyed the cooked breakfasts and Audrey was very welcoming. Our room had beautiful sea views. Short walking distance from the harbour.

I stayed here for 2 nights and it was a cracking choice. The bed was super comfortable, the Fife Coastal path is just across the road, and Audrey the owner is full of energy and information. I had a superb walk down to St.Monans and back - marvellous few hours. Beautiful views of the Firth of Foth, the Isle of May and the fishing villages passed were dripping with history and points of interest. On return, a quick shower and a gentle trundle down to the Golf Hotel for a couple of pints at the end of the day. Bliss. My car lay untouched for the 2 days - all you need is right on the doorstep here. Audrey was able to provide a perfect breakfast, and great conversation too. You'd be crazy not to tap into the history and local information provided - all delivered gracefully and with great pride by Audrey. Super place and owner, top B&B.

We stayed 4 nights and had a wonderful stay. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. These are experienced and professional hosts who know how to anticipate what you might like to enjoy your stay even more, such as places to visit and get a pint.

We booked a single and a twin room in Colstoncraig. Both rooms were comfortable, warm and welcoming. The hospitality we received from out hosts was outstanding. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Crail.

A very warm welcome from Audrey, and a generous and hearty breakfast. This bit of the coast is blessed with small quaint harbours and Crail is no exception. When we are next in the area Colston Craig will be our first port of call. Also check out Audrey's daughter's art work. Stunning!

Audrey was so welcoming and helpful. I had cycled from Dundee and was worried about leaving my bike outdoors. Audrey locked it in the shed overnight and assured me it would be very safe. I felt the couple were very friendly and made a real fuss over their guests. the bedroom was very clean and comfortable, the bed was amazing and the shower room was very nice. I had a great stay at Colstoncraig and will definitely return. the price was incredible value for the area and time of year so felt very grateful to the couple. Breakfast was outstanding btw, a real treat and just right for a days touring.

We loved staying with Audrey in the family home where she has lived all her life. She was friendly., welcoming and knowledgeable - what more could you want? Good breakfast to set us up for the day's walking. The room we had had a separate private bathroom, all spotlessly clean. Crail is the most beautiful village - Colstoncraig just on the edge and very peaceful - 5 mins walk down to the harbour. Bus stop right by. Perfect for walkers.

We had phoned a number of B&Bs in and around Crail looking for a room for a couple of nights, to no avail. When we called Colstoncraig and Audrey, the owner said she wasn't available but "she didn't want to leave us high and dry". She suggested that we phone the rest of the B&Bs on our list and if we couldn't find a room to call her back. We phoned B&Bs in Crail to Pittenweem but didn't find anything. When we phoned Audrey back she offered us a room and worked around her schedule to provide us with a room. She was wonderful generous. The house was her family house and she had been born in the room we were stayed in. Having been born and grown up in Crail she had great insight and information about the town, what to see, good places to eat, how the town had changed or not changed. It was wonderful to talk with someone who really knew the town. Audrey is a gem of a host and we are extremely thankful she has such a compassionate personality to visitors to Crail

Audrey and Alan were fantastic - friendly and helpful and fun to chat to, just the sort of experience you look for when staying in a B&B and family home. The B&B was very clean and spacious and the breakfast was excellent - would love to stay here again when I next visit Crail.
