Greeted with a cup of tea, homemade shortbread and a piece of cake. Good start. The host Lesley was very Covid aware which was great. The bedroom and large bathroom was spotlessly clean as were the linen and towels, I felt very safe. The farmhouse is located outside of the village of Crail but this was an advantage for me, the environment was peaceful and relaxed and the view across the farmland to the sea was lovely. There was a large choice of delicious breakfast items. Delightful. Lots a little extras supplied such as body wash, shampoo, conditioner, cotton wool balls, body lotion, shower cap, bath towel, hand towel, flannel, Tea, coffee, biscuits.

We booked Troustrie for a much needed mini break and couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to get away from it all. Lesley provided such a warm welcome, and the tea and cake was a lovely (and delicious!) surprise. The four poster bed was absolutely gorgeous, and so comfortable we didn't want to get up in the morning! Our room had beautiful views out to the Isle of May and I loved sitting in the window seat as it got dark and watching the lighthouse come to life. The rural location is perfect for some peace and quiet, and we thoroughly enjoyed the 25 min walk across the fields into Crail for fish and chips at the local pub. We appreciated all of Lesley's thoughtful little touches and were particularly impressed with her rewilding initiative and eco credentials - we were thrilled to spot a sparrowhawk as soon as we arrived! We were thoroughly reassured by Lesley's Covid procedures and felt really safe throughout our stay. We felt totally relaxed after our stay and hope to return soon!

My mum and I stayed at Troustrie House for 2 nights while on a short break to Crail. This was our first experience of Troustrie House and it proved to be an excellent choice. The house is set away from the main road, down a private road and in a quiet spot overlooking open fields. We arrived around 6pm and were welcomed with tea and delicious home-baking served in the drawing room. The room was beautifully presented with period furnishings and lit with dappled sunlight which only enhanced the charm and ambience. The Kelpie twin room was spacious and comfortable with views over the front garden and into the field beyond. There was an excellent choice for breakfast, which we selected from the list the night before. Breakfast was served in the dining room; another beautiful room with interesting artefacts and plenty of charm and character. Our breakfast was delicious, satisfying and very filling. Lesley is a wonderful host; attentive and engaging. We enjoyed sharing stories at breakfast and hearing about her travels. Our stay at Troustrie was short but has given us lovely memories to share. We look forward to returning soon.

After four years we managed a return visit and were not disappointed. Welcomed by Lesley with afternoon tea and home baking in the guest lounge(shortbread amazing). We then retired to our four poster room upstairs which has great views over the open countryside to the sea and is well appointed with a large en suite bathroom. Breakfast is chosen the night before from an extensive list and is served in the downstairs dining room. Lesley’s cooking and attention to detail are exemplary as is the house itself. A bit off the beaten track but for those who like the peace and quiet Troustrie provides the perfect location. Handy for all the coastal villages, visitor attractions and only a 20 minute drive to St Andrews. We will return but not wait as long as before

Couple of days booked at fairly short notice were comfortable with excellent attention from Lesley, as usual. We stayed in the twin room which was freshly decorated. The large ensuite had a full sized bath with shower attachment. Lovely open views added to the relaxing feel of Troustrie. Lesley's cooking is excellent complemented by home made preserves. A regular haunt on our Scottish circuit.
