We love staying at Castlekirk. The location is stunning - in the middle of Lochranza with lovely views of the castle, bay and hills. The building is full of character and has a magical feel about it. Vicki is the perfect host and as I am a vegan she really goes out of her way to provide some awesome breakfasts....

It was everything we could expect and more. Beautifully adorned B&B with amazing artwork through out. Directly across from Lochranza Castle. Vickie was a most gracious host. Lots of extra room to congregate and just enjoy the ambiance! A must place to stay on Arran.

Stayed in Castlekirk for 2 nights last week with 2 friends. The location is excellent: The BnB over looks the castle and is stumbling distance from the whisky distillery. Vicki was a lovely host and even went to the trouble of buying and making us sandwiches when the nearby pub was closed. Would definitely stay there again.

Arrived after a long walk on the coastal way after been hit by very stormy weather. Very wet and muddy and worried about the reception we'd get at a b and b. Couldn't believe how kind the host was, nothing was too much trouble, she dried all our clothes, including boots. She'd rang around during the day and found out...

Vicki was a lovely host, very welcoming and cooks a great breakfast! The room was clean and spacious with a good sized ensuite. Awesome old building with excellent views out to the castle and beyond. Seal spotting during breakfast! Would stay again.

Stayed here for 2 nights at the end of September. The deer rut had just started and it was just brilliant to hear them roaring right outside at the shore. Vicki is the nicest host, and her little black kitten, Murtagh, is great fun. Very welcoming. Such a lovely, cosy B&B, with a great breakfast, as others have said. Rooms...

Weekend walking in glorious weather and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Lovely welcome, spotlessly clean and brilliant breakfast. We've stayed at Castlekirk before and love that it hasn't changed much. Without doubt Vicky is the best host in Lochranza.

What a wonderful place to stay with a great kind host set in the most beautiful of surroundings. Our accommodation was very quirky in a converted church which is now a art gallery. Delightful place to stay.

Vicki is a fantastic host and has a beautiful former church converted into a B&B with a variety of rooms, all nice and comfortable. She provides great advice on the Isle of Arran as well from her broad knowledge of the island and the area overall. Her library of helpful local guide books is quite thorough and helpful as well....

We had a lovely time on our first trip to Arran, despite some calamities! Vicki must be the best b&b landlady ever - so kind and helpful way beyond anything one could possibly expect. On a more general note, her amazing breakfasts also reflect her generous spirit! The position of the b & b in Lochranza is great, and a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Steeped in legend and romance, LOCHRANZA is the jewel in Arrans Crown. Occasionally the peace is broken by the calls of oystercatchers annoyed by the odd human intrusion. Seals sit on the rocks whilst herons wade around the waters edge, wild deer can frequently be seen roaming the village, and golden eagles can sometimes be seen circling overhead. Across the Kilbrannan Sound, where the sun sets, awaits Kintyre. Look almost due north for views over to scenic Loch Fyne - the spiritual home of the kipper!CASTLEKIRK is the perfect retreat for artists, musicians, writers and poets, or those who just want to stay in a unique Bed and Breakfast and soak up the friendly creative atmosphere. Guests can enjoy looking at artwork which is displayed throughout the house and in the bedrooms. Artists are encouraged to use the inhouse gallery if they wish to paint whilst on holiday, tuition is available by arrangement, and easels are available to borrow, if any musicians feel so inclined, it’s also a great space to sit and practice! ... more   less
