We only had one night on this, our first visit to Arran. We were delighted to have chosen so well in staying at Butt Lodge. From the moment we arrived, we could see the care and attention to detail involved in creating such a special place to stay. The hard working owners had thought of everything and we enjoyed a fabulous meal of local produce expertly cooked. The location is stunning and we enjoyed a wander to the shoreline to watch the seals and the sunset. We would happily recommend this peaceful and friendly spot. Thank you both.

Property's Favourite Review
Butt Lodge was our first stop on our trip to Arran in the delightful little village/town of Lochranza, on the north side of the island. Cath and Mac were so welcoming on our arrival for our two night stay there and they took us to our lovely, clean and well decorated room in a COVID-safe manner. The service we received was second to none and one of the highlights for us was the fantastic, delicious breakfast they provide. All of the produce is fresh and tasty, and they also provide an amazing selection that accompanies the breakfast, like freshly baked pain au chocolates, which were just delightful. We only wished that we'd had booked evening meals there also because every time we had to leave to drive to our restaurant reservation elsewhere on the island, we had to walk through Butt Lodge's reception area and the cooking smells were just beautiful. Great value for money also, as they did a deal when we stayed. We had a special time on Arran and Butt Lodge was part of that. We will remember the hospitality, kindness and warmth shown by Cath and Mac forever. Thank you so much for our stay. Hopefully we will return in the future. Rob & John (mid-October 2021).

What a fantastic place to stay which absolutely enhanced our exploration of the Isle of Arran! The views from each window of our suite were magical. Beautiful rolling hillside and deer grazing metres away. You can even see the sea from the mezzanine seating area. Cath provides the friending and informative front of house (excellent advice on where to stop for coffees and seafood during our tour around the island). Mac's domain is the kitchen where he creates the delicious evening meals and cooked breakfasts. He still manages to find time to chat to guests during service. Wonderful hosts and a wonderful place to relax and explore this fantastic Scottish island. We will definitely visit again and would highly recommend Butt Lodge!

What a lovely place to start our holiday, we booked a 3 night stay and after arriving a little late in the day due to a ferry being cancelled, we were met with warmth and kindness, we were even able to eat later than we had booked to give us a chance to settle in. The room was clean and very well stocked with coffee/teas. Bathroom also well stocked with Arran aromatics, and fluffy towels all very very nice. From start to finish we felt very welcome by Cath and Mac. The meals that we had were fantastic value for money, we purchased a few bottles of wine and Cath made sure they were well chilled for our dinner. I know it’s all been said before in other reviews but this really is a lovely place with wonderful hosts, would we go again…..ABSOLUTELY YES. Thank you Cath and Mac xx

We had a wonderful stay at Butt Lodge - it was easy to store our bikes in the shed and the room was cosy and immaculate. There’s a lovely terrace to soak up the Scottish sun, watch the mountains and listen to the sheep bleating. We were provided with a dinner menu to choose from a week in advance and the dinner was exceptional (and very affordable at £30/person). Note that they don’t have an alcohol license but if you’re better organised than us you’ll be able to buy drinks at the nearest shop (not in Lochranza) and Cath and Mac will chill it for you. Breakfast was delicious - and Cath even gave us some flapjacks for our bike tour! Couldn’t recommend this wee hotel more if you’re planning to stay on Arran!

It was lovely to meet you and Lukas and we are really glad you enjoyed your stay at Butt Lodge. We too enjoy sitting out in the garden in the sun and taking in the views, when we get a minute 😃 we hope the flapjack provided a boost when you needed it and we wish you well for the rest of your Scottish bike ride.
