A great pub/hotel a short bus ride from Edinburgh city centre. We stayed for 3 nights and found all the staff helpful and friendly. There was a great choice of food at breakfast and an excellent evening menu. The food was delicious. Rooms are unfussy but comfortable and the shower was good(not always the case in many hotels) A big... More

This is one of the best budget hotels I've stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. All of the staff were equally friendly and helpful. Cracking breakfast, and for once, I didn't feel like a leper because I was vegetarian. I even got a tin-foiled roll for elevenses. I spend a lot of time visiting schools and I... More

Spent only one night but for the price it was great. A little tired but beds clean and comfortable. The staff were fabulous as was the food. Terrific breakfast. Will definitely go back. Bonus there was an open mike night and the music was first class

The rooms are small and quite old, but overall good for the price. We had two twin beds, which can't be combined, as they're on different sides of the wall, a small table with tea-making facilities, a small shower and a tiny TV. The wi-fi wasn't very good. The breakfast was really nice, but cutlery was a bit greasy. The... More

Booked for 2 nights. On arrival we were greeted by the manager and another member of staff who immediately offered to take our bags up to our room for us. We have stayed here before and once again were not disappointed. We took the bus, which is right outside the hotel into Edinburgh. We returned in the evening for a... More

Stayed for two nights. Nice comfortable hotel. Rooms very clean. The bus stop into the city is right outside the hotel and takes about 20 mins. Breakfast both mornings very good. All the staff very helpful. Will definitely be staying again.

Small room, tired bed, poor cushions. Nice bathroom, believe I was told it was the only room with a bath. This was an en route stop for us, stayed outside Edinburgh because while the price here was not exactly budget, in Edinburgh I found costs of B&B and hotels excessive. Very nice pub here, kind & enthusiastic landlord and pleasant... More

We spent one night at the Laird & Dog Inn. The people are wonderfully kind and friendly. The rooms are small but that is not a problem. Stayed in a lovely B and B round the corner and needed a place to eat that would allow dogs. I contacted the pub via email and received an instant response, dogs are allowed in sections of the pub, which was ideal. I ordered smoked haddock and pea risotto, and my husband and daughter both had the chicken stuffed with... More
