Well run site, very clean. Mix of hardstanding & grass pitches minutes from Rosslyn Chapel. Clean toilet block with showers & hairdryer. Veg prep & laundry room. Close to village amenities & country walks.
We were visiting family in Edinburgh and this made a great base. A bus ride into town, it is a lovely rural spot with nice walks locally. The campsite is peaceful with good size pitches and clean facilities. The only slight niggle was very bright lights around the site at night.
Helpful and knowledgeable lady running the site. Immaculately clean toilets and showers never queued once. Large pitches, very quiet site. 5 min walk to a lovely pub serving very nice food. Practically next door to the rosslyn chapel. Highly recommended
We wanted a quiet, dog friendly site with electric hook-up to stay for a few days with nearby pub / shops and bus service to Edinburgh & came across this perfect gem of a site. Situated in the village of Roslin it's only 2 mins walk to Rosslyn Chapel (made famous by Tom Hanks in the Da Vinci Code). The reviews looked great & we were soon glad we chose Slatebarns Caravan Park. We received a warm, friendly greeting from Pam who was very informative about the area & facilities. The no37 bus was only a few minutes walk away & 35 mins to Edinburgh city centre. The site facilities are excellent (minimal but very clean & tidy). Entry & exit is via a coded security barrier, there's very good wifi signal, personal/spacious showers with lockable door & shower curtain (separating the dressing area), sheltered washing up & veg prep area, laundrette facilities, good lighting for dark night walks to the loo & lots of tourist literature for days out & right next to the site is a dog walking woodland. We were able to pick a parking spot for our motorhome to suit us. We would definitely recommend anyone looking for a campsite to stay here (tent, motor home or caravans). A visit to the chapel is a bit costly at £9 per person but the bus was only £1.70 single fare to Edinburgh - bargain price as would cost a lot more in petrol & parking charges.…
I couldn’t recommend this site highly enough. Beautiful well kept site and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but were in walking distance of Roslin village. Warden’s Pam and Brian of the site was lovely and helpful and nothing would be too much trouble. We are just on our way home now after 8 night stay and looking forward to going back. We were just a few miles from Edinbrough and there is a bus from the village that goes there and times are on the hour and half hour and only cost £1.70. The pub in Roslin does beautiful fresh food, highly recommend the steak pie, veg and cheddar mash. Thank you Pam and Brian for making our stay here a lovely one. Also the post office do lovely fresh rolls. All in all a lovely site and village.
